OP: Thanks I needed that...After a long week of snow storms...

Happy Hair Growing!

... WoW... She dedicated a whole 7 minutes to people changing their hair type? However, I do someone that does this. She's a 3c/4a that claims to be 4z. But she also claims not being light skinned either, perhaps an identity complex? Ah well. *Kanye shrug*

first it's conditions on having long hair. i gotta tell how tall or short i am, and if i had long hair as a child/teenager/while in utero. or it's because my hair is a different texture

NOW there are conditions on your hair type and heaven forbid someone doesnt agree with you, they give you a scathing look with the superior eyebrow.

this is why....i just dont care. im gonna keep playing with my hair products and my NOOK and read as many books as i can.

Actually I think it's a lot more common for 4as to claim the title of 3c. Seems people wanna go down but never up....

These type of youtube rants really get on my nerves. If someone is claiming to be 4a... who are you to assume they're lying? Take Kimmaytube for example, some people are saying that she's not really 4a. She looks 4a to me. Plus hairtyping is not an exact science. If she wants to be 4a then who cares? I remember someone leaving a comment on Amazon for Chicoro's book. They said something like Chicoro's hair wasn't african american hair and that her book is deceiving because she obviously has good hair. Absolutely ridiculous.

So if you're 3C you can't complain about your hair? If my hair frizzes up you best believe I"m going to complain LOL
I don't usually watch videos of people with a looser texture than myself, but I certainly don't "dismiss" them of not having any knowledge of hair in general. I just say ok this isn't for me, keep it moving. I can't say they're not natural just because their hair isn't 4zzz.

This whole natural hair movement is ridiculous and just divides people. I've gotten to the point where I can't even read blogs or watch videos anymore.

I didn't watch the video, but some people need to stop with the hair policing. Save yourself some stress and irritation and worry about YOUR head. It ain't like I'm committing insurance fraud, I mean come on. :/

I haven't watched the video but I have seen a lot of people with what appears to be type 3 hair saying that they are a 4. And my hair looks nothing like thieir hair and I considered myself to be a 4a , it all just gets confusing... I'm just trying to keep my hair on my head :spinning:

EmpressRI I can only imagine the nasty comments you have to deal with
I know some people have "accused" you of being mixed :lachen:

Yeah I see that a lot. I remember one woman doing a video of her transition. She said her hair had no curl so she must be a 2a.. you could clearly see her hair was probably more like 4b. I don't know if she ever BC'd... I hope she didn't! If she did, most likely she slapped a relaxer back on her hair.

LMAO!!!!!!!!! The women with relaxed hair got it so good. They don't have to think about all this nonsense :lachen: I don't see any lye or no-lye wars up in hea!

That is practically the same ish. :nono: It's like relaxed girls walkin' around sayin' they're a lye head or a no-lye head. It doesn't matter. It's still relaxed. Same with hair typing. No matter what your hair type is, 3c 4a, 1a whatever, you're still natural. Just leave it alone. I honestly think there is more important things to worry about in errbody's hair besides the type. Like maybe how to care for it  which is not always dependent on the texture type.

WOW re: Chicoro...people are nuts. I'm so over this! People are continuously making up excuses for why their hair won't do xyz so when someone's hair does they just dismiss it as them having "good hair" or a lower hair type...and 99% of the time they do not consider texture AT ALL. Kimmaytube is a PERFECT example of this...seriously? Type 4 hair doesn't elongate when it's wet??? :perplexed:perplexed:perplexed

People need to learn about hair and educate themselves rather than rely on a vague and faulty system.

Oh my, this is getting nutz. I don't really care how someone types their hair on their head. It's all pretty subjective anyway. I don't have to comb that persons hair or deal w/it so I don't care what type they choose to call it. I've learned great info from people with type 2 hair from LHC so I don't get caught up in that anyway.

I'm convinced this is in response to the talks about KT being a 3c.

It's hair. Be it 123 or 4 abcdef....it's hair. I am a full blown subsaharan African and I have Type 1 hair. See below::look:

Omg...ppl are off the chain with this hair type crap. I believe I'm a 4a..honestly I really don't care. I'm just trying to be one hair type..and that's hair type HEALTHY!

this is so old. deja vu much?

For real, I learned how to twist from RusticBeauty and her hair ain't nothin' like mine. She just had the best tutorial. :lachen:

I'm only transitioning right now, but I already know that I'm a 1a. Thats why I dont even know why my mama even gave me a relaxer when I was younger.

I know my whole head of hair changed on me, cause for ten years I was heat trained to a looser texture and didn't know it, when I chopped and it grew back out my hair was completely different, funny I was a 3c with heat trained hair/with waves and still a 3c with tight coils, but dang it that I asked about it (with pics 4 proof), cause some 'know it all newly natural' did accuse me of trying to fit in to the 4type.....so stupid!!!. Excuse me chickadee, I been natural 17 years , I don't feel the need to fit in N E WHERE! I've had plenty of time to get comfortable with being natural period. Said member shall remain nameless lol

You forgot about having a neck OR no neck :lachen:

i remember that:lachen:

I don't know what I'm. I have 3 textures and nothing I can do about it. Some folks say they have a looser texture when truly said hair is damaged.

Most people have multiple textures and many naturals manipulate their hair with curl defining product/ butter/ conditioner or stretching ie. braidout. As it grows, the weight will elongate the coil also, changing the overall appearance. When you first see these typing descriptions, it can be a little confusion. I misclassified when I started, but I don't believe it is deliberate for those who seem to do that.
