LoL Some you tubers take this hair stuff way too far!! Seriously though why lie it's usually pretty obvious just by looking at the head. Honestly I usually watch the 4 type's on you tube, just because I can relate. Cant wait to see the video responses she gets...

*hangs head* Yes, I've claimed to be a 4ab just to fit in on this site. I am actually a 1...my great-grandmother is white so I got that good hurr. :yep:

I just watched the video and she is asking do some women say they are a 4a and they are a 3c just to be considered a real natural.

She said that the ones in the 3 range dont get taken seriously and that they are dismissed because women in the 4's typically take longer.

ETA: I dont really know, I do know that hair typing is a bit difficult so that may be one of the reasons it is done.

Yes, I am.
My mom is Indian, which is really Asian according to Bonnet Girl, so I'm a 2...but I claim 4z. :lachen::lachen:

oh for **** sake. ive already had one psycho come through my YT channel today.

to sum my thoughts up about that video....there are some folks that have issues beyond tissues. i dont give two damns about them.

keep it moving.

lol@ the hair typing paranoia , the underhanded spreading of 'shame in being a type 3"

what?

why is or should there be shame in any type? This always has and always will baffle me

first it was paranoia over lowering the type, now there is paranoia over upping the type

this is just dumb

Finally watched it, so many distractions... :look:

There's so many issues with black people these days I can't keep up. Now a 3c claiming to be 4a is bad because it's more legit? I thought natural hair was natural regardless. Oh goodness I laughed throughout the whole video, so many 'issues' these days that should not even arise. It's like black Youtubers these days are trying to reach a certain quota or something.

Oh I have a fun hairtyping story!

So I have a male coworker that normally keeps his hair braided but since we work saturdays and it was pretty empty in the office, he had his hair in a not so combed out fro (he's a 4c). So after we teased him a bit about him not combing it out, everyone in the office (about four of us) move on to the next subject of conversation and start working and all of that. So this one gal who works upstairs came to our office claims she has "mixed girl hair" though she's always wearing wigs and weaves and I've seen her edges previously so I took everything she says about her hair with a grain of salt.

Well she comes in with a hairbag on (not allowed by the by) and starts going on and on about my co-worker's hair and how it's nappy this and nappy that and generally causing a scene. She THEN goes on to say how her hair was so soft and curly and how she has 'mixed girl hair'. So my male coworker says "Ok, prove it, take off your cap! Show us that mixed girl hair!" So he reaches out and acts as though he's gonna take off her cap and she flips and start going on about how she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone and she knows how her hair is and she doesn't have to show us anything. There was a lot of finger waggin' and neck rollin' to be had. She's going on just as loud and just as ghetto as she wants to be and I'm in the corner crackin up because she's been called on her bluff and pissed off because of it. I've -seen- her real hair when she had some unfortunate not so well done crochet in her hair and it's 4a if that. Needless to say, she doesn't talk about her hair texture anymore.

it's funny because I see a lot of 4's and think "you seem like a 3 to me". Then I see women that swear they are 3a-3bs and think "how so"?......
Personally, I can't type my hair because I have mixed textures. Once it is close to 100% healthy I may know, but that could be never............

People put their hair texture one step up all the time. I find it irritating, but can you do?:ohwell:
I just try to ignore it.

I remember the whole break down on here of what is the difference between a 'courser' 3c and a 'silky' 4a :wallbash:

Im from back in the day when the main division was relaxed/natural, that was ridiculous enough, then the strict anti-straight-heat naturals/against the tolerant ones- Then the really dumb division with anti-tamed hair naturals against tamed styled naturals *oy* Ive seen those lines blur more and more over time but to see all these divisions amongst naturals with the hair typing being birthed slowly into existence before my eyes was just plain sad to watch

to see this vid today-was just the train wreck some of us saw coming in slow motion-I just didn't want to believe it

I hope these lines blur over time too

I do think that some people do this, but it didn't warrant a video.

TBH, last year I saw this cute shirt on Mane and Chic that said "Curls" and had a 3 on it...and people tell me I am 3c/4a...but I felt uncomfortable getting it because I didn't want to look like I was trying to rep having "good hair," but I didn't want the 4 shirt that said "Kinks" because I usually call my hair curly, and then I just got all confused about hair typing and didn't buy anything...lol

^What??

They actually have shirts with the hair type printed on them? Curls =3 and Kinks = 4 huh?

Oh boy....

But I didn't like the numbers so I just got all confused and didn't get one. Oh, but when I first wanted it she didn't have a coils one.

Smh, the natural hair community is HILARIOUS!!
I hope not to offend any of you guys, but Lawd!! Didn't it just used to be that you can't have relaxer or jheri curl to be down? Now you gotta have no relaxer, no jheri curl, no BKT, no heat, no comb, no brush, no color/henna, no gel, no twist-out, no braid-out, no manmade product of any kind...and now no Type 1-3? Only 4?

All these rules!! :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

OMG, some people have nothing better to do other than to make a video about some"people's" hair in their spare time. She babbled on about nothing....I stopped listening and found Jenko's story interesting as I tuned that video out.
