Misses: Products with glycerin as one of the ingredients, especially if it is high on the ingredients list. I revisited a lot of products with no success. This includes all the "juices" for me. So that means no S-Curl, Hawaiian Silky, Care Free, KBB milk/nectar, Darcy's leave-in and the list goes on. My hair hates glycerin and it gets hard as heck to manage. No thank you!

I think I might be the same. Just got these KBB milks and my hair feels dry. I have never felt dryness in all my naturaldom. Weird, I know. Gonna try it out a few more times to make sure though.

Hits:
Vigorols Curls cream
NutraLift gel
Aquage Illuminating Gelade - I'm a bad CG; it has mineral oil and a heavy scent, but it's nice, in small quantities, for my ends.

Misses:
Yes to Cucumbers leave in - so many 4a's love this -- I don't see why
Nutralift moisturizing conditioner - not only not moisturizing, makes my hair feel rough
Wiseways Herbals Apple Cider Vineger/Herbal Hair tonic - nice product but an ACV rinse doesn't fit well into my routine.

Hit: Pink Ecostyler Gel
I've tried them all--clear, yellow, blue, brown, olive oil, and now pink-- and this one is my favorite so far. It's the "anti-itch formula", so it has a slightly cooling effect on my scalp.

HITS
Kinky Kurly Knot Today--as a leave in & detangler. I finally tried it as a leave in and my hair loves it.

Peaceloveandsunshine's Cutie Juice--simple product that I use for full head baggying or as a refresher and it gets the job done.

Mega Hit: Using Herbal Essences Drench to Quench conditioner as a leave in. My hair is incredibly soft it's amazing! I have finally found something that makes my NG super moisturized.

Hits: kenra moisturizing conditioner, porosity control, keracare oil sheen w/ humidity block
On the fence: Joico k-pak reconstructor (GVP)
Miss: Organix coconut milk conditioner. left my hair stripped :nono: even though it doesnt contain ones

Aw, sorry to hear that. That conditioner has a lot of protein in it, that could of been the cause. I loved it on transitioning hair but it was too much protein for my natural hair.

The key though, is not to apply too much or your hair will just clump together. When I first tried it, I hated it and didn't understand what all the raves were about. Now that I'm using the right amount for my hair...about a dime size...it makes my hair nice and soft and it smells good. :lick: I find that it works best (makes my hair softest) when I apply it at night when I M&S and scarf my hair. My hair is deliciously soft by morning. I use Scurl, HE LTR and seal with argan oil twice daily. I use a very small amount of each prod.

HIT:
Mizani Butter Blends No-Lye relaxer + the butter blends system (minus the butter base)
Avene Proport Intensive Mask infused with oat (keratin formula)

the relaxer left my hair feeling silky, fab and soft without dryness and breakage! The Avene conditioner is sample large packs that my hair stylist gave me and it's wonderful!! The comb glided through my hair, my hair felt strong and is shiny... After all my packets run out I may have to get this!

HITS:
Qhemet Biologics Moisturize & Style Products - didn't work instant miracles but I believe with consistent use, it will benefit my hair. I love that it's not too heavy nor too light. I'm light-handed so a little will go a long way. These products might be staples. :yep:

UNDECIDED:
KBB Hair Milk - it felt a little waxy on my hair and the next morning my hair was dry, which is unusual for me. I tried another leave-in under it the next day (on dry hair, not damp or wet) and the result was better.

Hits:
HE Hydralicious worked great as a dc
Honeyquat
Omega 3 vitamins

Semi hit:
Ori Organics Masque

Miss:
Ori Organics Mango Curl Cream

MISS: Aubrey's Organic Island Natural Shampoo- this stuff is verrrrryy drying.. i really wanted to like it too.

Official "MISS" but a total hit on the mom's hair so now she's stocked up :giggle:

Adding whole leaf aloe vera juice to a conditioner. Wow! I poured a good amount into some old nasty Proclaim cholesterol condish that I had under the sink and the difference is night and day. By itself this stuff is awful! I thought my hair hated aloe vera but I guess I was wrong?

Now I throw it in just about everything

Hit: Revlon Realistic Lye Relaxer...best results I've gotten with a lye relaxer. Rollersetting is also a hit, no more flat-irons for me.

How do you use your honeyquat? In what proportions? I am still playing around with this. I have been using it in 1 to 3 ratios (1part honeyquat: 3 part water)

HITS:

Lustrasilk Shea & Mango Cholesterol- boy oh boy, i should've never strayed from this stuff. i just used in my hair as a dc, mixed with glycerin, olive oil, and honey. it is the bomb! a little bit goes a looooong way. my hair is inbetween sl and apl, and i used less than 2 spoonfuls of this stuff, which is great for my wallet, since i'm on a budget. it glided on my hair so easily, and provided so much moisture and slip, which brings me to...

Finger Detangling- now in the past, i never really wanted to get into finger detangling because i figured it would only get the job half done. well not with the right conditioner. Lustrasilk provided me with so much slip that my fingers glided straight through my hair like a knife through room temperature butter. no snags, no pulling, and no tearing. my hair is fully detangled, only using my fingers! this is great! now i feel more comfortable putting away my Denman more often, even though it is awesome.

Teri's Tightly Curly Method- but not just for wash and gos. for DEEP CONDITIONING! this method is amazing. a few weeks ago, i was having trouble with my crown. although i was dc'ing weekly, it was still dry and rough and snapping when i touched it. i was totally confuzzled because i put dc on it every week. or so i thought. then one day i was browsing Teri's site, and her method stood out to me. for a few weeks now i have been applying my dc the TC way, and i'm not having problems with my hair anymore.

Giovanni Smooth As Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner- this stuff is awesome! it really does make my hair smooth and silk like, lol. it also provides great slip. its like every strand is covered in slippery silk. i used it as a leave-in tonight. this stuff rivals my HE LTR leave-in. and so little goes a long way.

twisting on dry hair: WOW. just WOW. this is amazing. my hair looks SO good and i love it! recently i've been in a funk over my hair. but i am loving this style. ♥

MISSES:

twisting at night: smfh. don't EVA do this. i started twisting my hair at 10 pm, thinking i would be done in like two hours. SIKE! i didn't finish twisting until 3 am and i was super tired. i didn't wake up til 11!

Suave Almond & Shea Butter Conditioner- um no thanks. after months of hype, i finally bought this conditioner. the smell is great, but thats it. i tried this as a cowash, and the softness it provided was super temporary. as a detangler, no dice. the slip just wasn't there. tried it as a leave-in - hurr was dry the same day. at the same time, my hair felt coated. i really just can't find anyway to make myself like this. i even disliked the thickness of it. so i'm going to put one spoon of it in my dc every week until its gone. i hate being wasteful, especially with my money. ♥

You can use it to shave with. My legs love this, :lachen:.

Miss: Silk Elements MegaSilk Leave-In Hair Moisturizing Creme

My hair didn't like this after all. The cone really seemed to make my hair feel coated. 'CYCLOPENTASILOXANE'
I was trying to find a moisturizer that I could buy locally, but it seems like I am not having much luck with that, everything has cones that I try to buy at the store. I'm trying to stay away from cones and glycerin, also mineral oil and petroleum.

Off to find a natural moisturizer that my hair likes.

I've been so busy using up what I have - I forgot about some all-time favorites:

Major hits:
Scurl - this leaves (sticky until it dries) my natural hair incredibly soft
Castor Oil - this is heavy but nothing helps with detangling better
