Same here:ohwell:. I have yet to have men oogle over me with long hair. I have worn long weave and I usually get :perplexed. I even had hair a little longer than SL and recieved nada. When I rocked my short cut you could not tell me anything and men picked up on that. I was always amazed how much attention I recieved from my short cut(for vanity reasons this really makes me miss it).:perplexed

I have always said I am giving this long hair thing a try and if I ain't feeling it, goodbye!

EXACTLY! That's why I would sometimes let my hair grow out of the pixie cut to SL and cut it right back short again after getting bored. I did this probably 4 times in my life. I remember growing it back and then I'd see Malinda Williams or Nia with a fresh cut and get mine cut short again the next day. There is NOTHING like that feeling. I hope I feel that confidence again when I get past this length and I can fling my hair around and smack people in the face with it. That'll get their attention. Just kidding.

I wear weaves occasionally for a PS or just for a change but the paranoia of being found out if a track shows when the wind blows overtakes the confidence so I don't feel prettier in a weave. Of course that insecurity is picked up by men. However, looking in the mirror at home I feel prettier with the weave........ until I walk out the door.:look:

That's really interesting. Do you think it might be because these men would actually prefer real hair (however short) over weaves or a hair length that could be perceived as a weave?

I think it depends. Many women do look better with long hair but there are some for whom it just sorta shadows their looks.

For instance, I never noticed how beautiful Halle Berry was until I saw her sport that short do in Boomerang. :notworthy And then there's our very own Arosieworld. If I had power over that girl, she'd stay bald for life. She was FIYAH w/o any hair on her head, I almost proposed.

Ahhh thanks! I think girls look good in anything that works for their face but with short hair you have to try so much harder to be seen as feminine. Your make up and clothes and jewelry has to be on point because from far away you just look bald to most people which is associated with masculinity.

Depends on their face, like Halle Berry looks more stunning with shorter hair.

very few can refute that halle looks soooooooooooooooooooo much better with short hair
she's even said so herself

i agree that it all depends on the face

i 1000000% agree
I always stare at your bald shot:lachen: straight FIYAAA'

I think it depends on the individual. Some people just dont have the face for long hair!!!! And some dont for short!!!! I have seen some women with long hair and their face, or head shape just does not fit it!!! Likewise with short. So it depends. All though long hair is wonderful, its just not for everyone.

I chose "depends on the individual". My first thought after reading this question was Halle Berry. She ALWAYS looks better with short hair, IMO. Something else to consider: I've had both long, short, and in-between hair, and I ALWAYS get hit on more when my hair is short. When I BC'ed my hair was the shortest it's ever been, and I got hit on the most I ever have in life. I attribute that to the confidence that came out of the cut. I felt liberated, free, excited, and sexy, and I'm sure that it showed on the outside. I've always felt that the best accessory is confidence, and the experiences that I have had in life have verified that (for me at least).

I've heard people mention that they would feel prettier with long hair and think women with long hair are percieved as prettier, but I haven't personally experienced this. I haven't recieved any "beauty points" just because of my hair. Physically I'm plain/not pretty and I haven't had anyone think otherwise just because of my hair. So I was just curious about everyone else's experiences.

I think you get points when you use your hair to gain them. It can't just be there. It has to be styled and you gotta add a little sexy to it: well-fitting jeans, tops that fit well and show some curves, a little make-up, heels don't hurt, and a little attitude. Just having long hair used to be enough back in the day but I think now with so many wearing weaves and braids you have to do something extra especially if you are plain. You have to up your game all-around.

Gosh, I think we have the same brain! Because this whole post is EXACTLY me to a T:yep::yep::yep:!

I have the exact same sentiments. And it never helped that my relatives and my husband would tell me so. You are so right about the tracks and the funniness of the head shape and everything about the weave not being believeable really didn't help me rocking weave:nono:.

I really think deep down inside I am a short haired girl. But I willl give this long hair thing a shot, to know for sure:look:.

I really don't know. But some women got hella attention with long weaves. THAT IS NOT me. I get the opposite:ohwell:. Something about it may not agree with my features. Don't get me wrong, they would look from afar, but when they got up close :nono::look:. However with short hair I think it was the opposite reaction. From afar it was like :ohwell:, but I think I really suprised them how good i would look up close, I guess.

All I know is that I got more 'you are beautiful, you are sexy', whatever with short hair.

With long hair, if it was a look, it was no compliments or even an approach. But every woman is different. I will test this hypothesis when my hair gets to APL:grin:. Also keep in mind, I tend to be less confident in weave and longer hair. So maybe its just confidence:yep:.

I think I'm a 6/10 on the beauty scale and when I had a short (I call it Anita Baker style 'cause that's my era), I was HAWT judging by the attention I got from men. But then again I was in my late teens to early twenties and at the peak of my health and physical beauty (no stretch marks, cellulite...) .
....

Your description sounds like me, except I definitely rate myself 8.5/10 :lachen:

I think a very large amount of women do look better with long hair. But not everyone.

My hair has been layered neck length for the past 7 years and I am always getting compliments on my hair from men and women and people telling me they like my hair at this length. A short halle cut would NOT be cute on me, but the right above SL with layers look seems to fit me well.

I also look silly in long weaves and don't feel cute at all. I do want to grow my real hair to at least APL tho to see what it looks like. I will still have layers and lots of body tho. Long straight hair just hanging there would not be a good look on me.

I've actually always wanted short hair like Halle's or shorter but thanks to genetics i would look like a big headed fool, so i just stick with the long hair and admire the short haired beauties.

It depends on the woman and her face but in general, I think most women do.

I think very few women can pull off short hair. It's masculine and you need a delicate, beautiful face to offset that.

i agree that it all depends on the face

That after picture must have been after she had given birth? She looks heavier and not as pretty.

OK, just to add: I reckon that it seems to be much prettier faces that can get away with shorter hairstyles more easily than less pretty women. And so, the less pretty women would look better with longer hair in order to compensate the femininity, if that makes sense. I'm not meaning to cause offence to anyone by the way (I even think I'm a not-so-pretty girl who can't do short hair :ohwell:), and I know prettiness is subjective as well, but this is just a general thing I've thought of.

Just had something interesting to add:

Emma Watson recently chopped her hair from long to very short and considering she's wearing about the same amount of makeup in both shots I think she looks quite better with shorter hair.

^^^ OMG, "Hermoine" does look awesome w/o long hair. I loved her hair but WOW at not having it.

Are you sure? Because you have women straight drooling over your hair. I stalk your fotki all the time, my names probably in your visitor section right now.

You know who else looks HAWT with hardly any hair? Our very own SweetNic_JA. I didn't even realize I had just spied her pics till I saw the later pics and recognized her. That first model-esque pic looked so beautiful I didn't think it belonged to anyone I knew.

Here's the post where she posted her pics and blew me away with her short crop pic: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showpost.php?p=11659384&postcount=175

God bless her bone structure, some women just rock it with no hair on top. arosieworld too makes me so impressed with her pretty face.

I know right??? She's obviously a very pretty girl but I tell ya...when there's no hair to hide behind you really do see a woman for everything she is. In this case she just looks ridiculously pretty.

Thank you.

I do sometimes recieve comments on my hair but I think men view things differently than women. Years ago I wore my hair BSL, relaxed with highlights and bangs to frame my face and I don't think this made me anymore attractive to guys. I have never been considered "hot", "fine", "pretty", etc. (not that it matters; there's more important things in life)--- even back then with the relaxer, cut, and highlights. I just don't think long hair makes a woman more attractive, at least to men. I don't think men care if a woman wears a weave as long as it suits her. I don't even think hairstyle matters much to men as long as it suits the individual woman.

Largely yes. Rarely there are those few who have the bone structure and features to rock short do's or even no do at all (helloooooo bald Natalie Portman! Sup pixie cut Halle Berry!), but that is the exception and not the rule. Overall women by and far look better with some kind of hair chin length and longer. It's prettier, more feminine, and grandly complementing with most facial features.

It depends, I have seen some women with relaxed hair on YT and on this site:look:. Their hair is considered long but it is so thin, I wish they would chop it off to shoulder length. When my hair was almost APL years ago, it was so thin I hated it and chopped it off back to shoulder length. The men were loving it but, it had to go, It was over-processed bone straight.

IMO I think thick healthy hair is better than long hair. Together and you have a match made in heaven.

:amen: finally somebody says it... when i see threads that say... "woohoo! i made mbl!" and it's only 3 strands of hair... i :nono::perplexed:ohwell:

edited to add: i look at some ppl and just wish that they would rock a short cut. but the key about short hair is that it has to be on purpose. and actual cut and style...nothing worse than a short relaxed do that hasn't seen a curling iron/flat iron/shape up in weeks. Rihanna, for example... looks gorgeous with short hair...compared to her long hair days.

I think i look better with long hair, imo. I just bc'd for the second time, but i've never done a short relaxed do. ***considers strongly***

ok...i'm back...lol i know that when I am anywhere above SL relaxed...big curls vs. super sleek hair works better for me. I will be rocking weaves/half wigs until i'm SL/APL stretched not bc i'm ashamed of my natural...but bc i think that SL and beyond is more flattering on my round face.

Wow this is something that I fear will happen to me!!!! Lololol! Seriously, because when I take my weaves out it thins out the bottom of my hair and I dont care how much length I gain I have to cut the ends because it just isnt cute with a thin ends!!!!! OMG!!! So I have not been rockin a weave since May due to this, however I think this happened because I left the weave in too long.

I voted yes. What's the name of this forum again? How many members? How many lurkers? How many beauty supply stores? How many dollars spent on human and synthetic hair?

Most women I have seen with long hair are beautiful because of the hair. If the hair was short, wouldn't get a second look. My opinion.

I think it depends on the individual. Although I have never had hair past APL I feel that my most flattering length was a chin length bob. It highlighted my jawline. I think whether its long or short hair depends on the cut. I've seen women with very unflattering long hair.

That doesn't mean they look better with longer hair:ohwell:. Beauty supplies are selling dreams. There are a dozen weaves out there and there are VERY FEW that rock it well:ohwell:. I have even seen long hair on some women that made them appear older than they were.

I think one of the problems with so called social conditioning is that there are sooo many exceptions. I mean not everyone is meant to be light skinned or have grey eyes or even long hair. I hate to say it, but so many face shapes and I don't think everyone is meant to wear it.

I also think that long hair may not make an ugly woman more attractive, BUT if a person is average(which alot of women fall in this catagory to me:look:), it can bump them up.

OP, this is very interesting coming from you. I think because many people really think they would look very beautiful if they grew there hair out. I for one also believes this:look:, especially the older I get. There are also many long haired women that speak of the accolades of having long hair and that everyone will be chasing them til dawn. So this, coming from you is a bit of an eye-opener. And it goes to show maybe the grass isn't always greener on the other side:ohwell:. You have beautiful hair, though:yep:!
