Checkin in! I massaged my scalp yesterday with some coconut oil and mahabringraj oil. I warmed it up in the microwave and poured it on my scalp. After massaging for 15 min, I put a plastic cap on for an hour. My scalp was tingling like crazy! After my co-wash, I was in love with the way it felt. I would reccomend mahabringraj oil to anyone who is having trouble with growth. It cools the scalp and makes the hair feel great.

Im going to try that

^^So am I, my sister is braiding my hair this week so it will be easy to massage my scalp again on a regular basis. How is everybody else doing?

Did a 15 minute massage and steam treatment with mahabringraj oil. Can we say softness? This challenge has really had me focused on my scalp and its health. My hair is thicker, the new growth is much more dense than the first time I transitioned, and my hair is stronger from the root. I am so happy today.

I made myself watch some TV last night to keep my fingers in my hair and away from my keyboard. I watched Mind Over Money and massaged my scalp for as long as the program was on (~45 mins). I didn't get the tingling sensation like everyone else :(, but at least I know I gave my hear some love.

I feel u on the braids. For me in the spring/summer it's the best thing for me to do. I'm gonna get some individuals and hopefully that'll make it easier for me to get to my scalp it's kinda tough with twists. By the way what do you use to cleanse with when you have braids? I haven't had them professionally done in about 2 years, that was before I was on the whole healthy hair journey so what would you suggest that won't leave me with build up. I was thinkin taliah waajid's moisture cleanse but not sure.

whew, i just permed yesterday, so i can finally get back to massaging again now that i can finally get through to my roots and not have to worry about tangles!

last night, i only did a few minutes, but i sure felt the tingle.

i also must add that in the beginning months (jan-march) i really noticed alot of growth from the massaging/tapping and hope to find a new way to continue this useful technique even in the latter months (like march-may) when the ng is heavy.

I just use regular shampoo, usually a clarifying one since I'm only washing my hair once a month.

I really need to get back on my massage game. I massage oils only a few minutes to evenly distribute over my scalp but, 30, 45, 60 minutes? I'm way too lazy for that. I do intend to do better but, I think the 10-15 minutes is helping. I just reordered more jbco today. BTW, there's a sale @ sam's caribbean on the 8oz bottles. Usually $9.99, on sale for $6.99. This sale was extended from Mother's Day.

Tis all.

I'm checking in, after falling off the wagon for some time. I REALLY try not to scratch my scalp…it's so hard. I haven't been using any special oil for massaging, but maybe I should, since I'm trying to get to APL by December, and I've lived my life with a measly SL.

Welp I'm checking in, I joined the ceramides challenge so I did a massage with my electric massager and wheat germ oil. I didn't time it probably about 5 minutes and I know I should do 15 plus to get an effect so I'll do it again before I deep condition and of course while I shampoo. Does anyone use a shampoo brush to massage or would that not be good because of single strand knots? I'm debating the purchase let me know your thoughts please

How coiled is your hair? I know a shampoo brush would probably be bad news for my hair, since I'm 4b. My fingertips seem to work just fine for me—and they're free!

last night i massaged for an hour and 10 min.!

it was the first time in a long time, but i just watched a movie and did it!

it felt great to be back on track again! (i finally just permed, so now, i can actually feel my scalp without the tangles!)

last night was the first time this week that i didn't massage my scalp, and whew, did i ever miss it!

i had my overnight dc on, so i couldn't but i cannot wait to get back to my massaging tonight!!!

whew, was i ever happy when i washed off my dc last night!

i put on my M-T-G and massaged for nearly 20 minutes!

i also gently tapped my hairline and nape areas for about 8 minutes...!

it felt great! i got lots of tingles all over my scalp for a long time after i had finished....!

c'mon ladies...don't be shy.....i know i'm not the only one doing this stuff....

im very frustrated because i never notice a difference with massages!!!!!!

i understand your frustration, Lamaria!
it took me months to really "notice" a difference, but when it happens, believe me, you will be so grateful that you persevered!:yep:
stick with it, you'll see what i mean.....

just checkin in.....

i did my 20 minutes of scalp massage last night.

i also tapped my edges for about 10 minutes.

this week, i'm gonna pick a movie i like, that i know will occupy my mind so that i can watch that while i do my extra long massage.

i started doing that type of technique to up my time frame around february of this year and found that when i set the timer and just watched something interesting while massaging, i'd look up after the movie and find over an hour had just so easily passed by.

it really benifited my hair and scalp alot, so i gotta remember to keep it up!

uhhhh, hello ladies.....ummmmm, where are you???

ok, i know i'm not in this thread by myself, lol, but hopefully, just checking in will get the ball rolling!

i did my massage last night, but only 25 minutes.

still gotta find that good film to help me get over the time hump...

I'm here, grow! Not really doing any extended massaging. I massage to apply my mix to my scalp and may massage about 15 - 20 mins tops. I love the feeling of a good scalp massage and the tingles afterwards. So, I'm still hanging in. Can't say that I've been consistent for the duration of the challenge tho but, I'm here.

i'm soooo glad you're here, NJoy!

but, heh.....are we the only two or are there some other ladies out there massaging their scalps?

I didn't see this thread at the start of the challenge but I've been massaging my scalp everyday for the past week or so. So although I am not an official challenge participant, I have been getting my massage on .

Everyday I massage my scalp with my hair growth oil mixture (grapeseed oil, jojoba, rosemary, lavender, lemon, cedarwood and thyme). I put it in the fridge and then oil my scalp with it like a pomade. It is less oily this way as compared to using an applicator bottle.

On co-wash and wash days, I massage my scalp with my two cayenne pepper tonics I created (one liniment and one oil infusion) and let that marinate for a minimum of 1.5 hours before washing and then after washing/conditioning/etc massage again with my hair growth oil mixture :yep:.

I massage for 10-20 minutes. I couldn't imagine massaging for an hour. You'se a bad woman grow! My wrists and fingers would be all sore and cramping .

I'm messaging! I try a scalp message at least every other day. I usually use either Indian oils or a coconut oil mixture. I only message for about 10
minutes so I guess I have some more work to do.

Janda, there was a time when i couldn't even massage for 10 minutes, so congratulate yourself for getting it started and just try to stay consitent with what you have! it will get easier and easier!

and Avaya, you crack me up talking about me being bad with my long massages! lol!
i'll tell you a secret....at first, it did cramp my fingers, so i learned to alternate arms and hands! i don't think i physically could manage to keep BOTH my arms up and in my head for long lengths of time!

now tell us more about this growth oil mixture you made! that sounds fab!
i love the herb mix, too!
i just made one in evoo with dried herbs of:
Burdock Root
Rosemary
Thyme
Sage
Lavender
Horsetail
Nettle
Fenugreek
and a bit of Mint, too!
i massage with those, i also do the cayenne pepper to which i have added ginger (it heats it up on my scalp!) and i also do an Ayurveda oil mixture.
since after my last perm on june 30th., i've been using M-T-G, too!

Um…I'm kind of massaging. I try to sneak a few seconds here and there in the morning and night before bed. If I wasn't so addicted to the computer, I'd get off and pamper my scalp more!

I massaged with some tea tree oil for a short time today and a few days ago I mixed jbco and evco and massaged a good amount

I massaged my scalp yesterday, I always use a mixture of jojoba oil and a few drops of peppermint oil.

Are you leaving your cayenne pepper mix on your scalp or do you wash your hair afterward?

The growth oil mixture I use is:

2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil
3 drops cedarwood EO
3 drops lavender EO
3 drops lemon EO
3 drops rosemary EO
3 drops thyme EO

This mixture has been clinically proven to regrow the hair of folks with alopecia and male pattern baldness.
