THAT *@#%$ CUT MY HAIR OFF! (long rant inside)

So sorry about your set back. I will be getting my hair relaxed soon after a year plus stretch and I have this anxiety...I know I'll need a trim, but I don't want to lose all of this progress to a SHS who thinks that I have the length to spare. Going off your experience- no one will trim my hair but me!

**Off to start Youtubing self trimming videos.**

On the plus side- your ends look very nice and full; your hair looks healthy. You are going to get back to BSL and it is going to look very lovely.

I want one of these...

I actually ordered one of these this morning. I had been getting trims at Supercuts, but now that I'm within strking distance of my goal length, I don't even trust them anymore. It would be so easy for someone to turn a simple trim into a giant setback.

OP, I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's incredible to me that a trusted stylist would do this. For what it's worth, your hair actually looks longer and fuller than it did in your starting pic. I have no doubt that your hair will be back in no time.

OP, I am so sorry about the "cut" you got, instead of a trim. I would be soooo mad and disappointed. FWIW, your hair is gorgeous, with thick ends. Summer is coming so hopefully you'll get a growth spurt. I hope you reach all of your hair goals.

I want one of these...

OT...it funny you posted this link. Last week, I decided that I wanted a U-shaped cut (instead of blunt) but didn't trust a stylist to do it. So, I ordered the creaclip. While I was waiting to receive it, I started second-guessing my decision to buy it. Well, not anymore...the creaclip came today, and I'm glad I got it. No more stylists for me! :nono:

OP, you have my empathy. I've come to the conclusion that there has to be a problem in the styling industry because we hear these types of stories all too often. I'm not sure how a fully grown adult mistakes "trim" for "haircut."

That B-word! Don't let it get you down, just think of this as the trim or trims that you will not have to get once you reach your goal....just continue your hh journey, you hair will be right back...

Wow lilsparkle, I don't know what to say, except I'm sorry this has happened to you and upset you. I would have been very upset myself had it happned to me.

Why can't we have contracts drawn up for these hair stylists to sign, agreeing to our terms of how much hair they are a allowed to cut off and if they cut even a quarter inch more, they'll have to pay through the eyeballs for the pain and suffering they cause us:sad:.

I know this is taking it a little far but they must be stopped:wallbash:.

Oh by the way, now that my rant is over, I wanted to add that your ends look really great, if that is any consolation at all.

~hugs & kisses~

I know you don't want to hear this, but please take it as a complement:

Your hair looks so much thicker ...and I like the shape better.

- in 4 months (16 weeks/one stretch) it will be back.

My hugs to you and I do so know how you feel. I am dealing with an issue with my hair that gives me that despair feeling too...I will post new thread later.

Hugs

Oh, no! I'm sorry to hear about your cut. You're not "crying" over spilled milk. Sometimes, it's necessary to vent a little and we don't mind. We'd feel the same way.
The good news is your hair still looks fabulous. :o)

LilSparkle, your hair looks beautiful. Some stylists have a thing about making hair 'even'. The good thing..a little rainbow for you....she cut your hair on a lunar phase day for thickening.

(((((Big Hugs)))) So sorry that this happened to you lilsparkle825. I know you've worked so hard to get your hair to the point that it was. It will grow back and you know what to do to get it there. Next time, by December, it'll be better than it was before!

I'm sorry that this happened to you, but I don't think she took much off and it looks good. :yep:
The second picture in my sig is now my "before" pic. It was almost BSB  but this is the same thing my mom said, it wasn't that much. It feels like EVERYTHING to me!
Are you sure going back to her to tell you how dissatisfied you are won't help?
Nope :lachen:I can't guarantee she won't hear from me in the next few days!

This lunar phase day thing really made me feel better. I had always wanted to trim on one of those days, but forgot. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear about your setback trim, but your hair looks great in the picture. It will grow back in no time.

So sorry this happened to you lilsparkle. You trusted her :nono: On the plus side, your hair looks so healthy! :yep: at least now you have great ends. you got it to BSL it'll get there again. Maybe you could keep it up in PS, so you don't have to see it for a bit. Take your mind off.

Sorry Chica... I know that sucks. But at least now you know you can get to BSL.... You'll get back there in no time... Also, good thing you found out at BSL that you can't trust your stylist. Imagine if you went in there at MBL and you found out that she doesn't know a trim from a cut...

Sending big hugs your way AND I love you Joel Osteen quote!!!

Did she cut a different amount than what she showed you/pointed to? It really does look nice.

I went to SuperCuts for a trim. The guy did a great job, followed my instructions exactly, but in the next few days my hair felt shorter. I think it was me and my "hair anorexia" and not him...losing any amount of length while trying to grow your hair can feel devastating. Even though I need a trim, I haven't gotten once since...too scared.

ETA: As much as I speak up for the Dominicans, I never let them cut my hair - except once when I first started my journey. I did get my bangs trimmed. I saw them cut a lady's hair once...it was very long, WL, but she left with much shorter hair. My hair was too short to risk it lol.

i have had this happen to me soooo many times once i passed shoulder length. i mean for YEARS i would go to stylists and get a "trim" and have my little struggling tresses that aspired to reach to pass my shoulders get chopped the @$&#@! off by a scissor happy stylist.

please please please learn how to trim your own hair. now that you ends are blunt and healthy start dusting your own ends and when stylists, even the ones you trust, say you need a "trim", say "BACK OFF DEVIL!!!"

here is a link to teach you how to do it. this is from the KISS blog of fellow member Traycee.... excellent tutorial.

good luck and God's speed to MBL! (((HUGS)))

Your hair looks great. I know you're mad (and rightfully so) but know that just like you hit BSL once, you'll do it again.
