my WORRIES about natural Hair!

I didn't read through all of the responses but let me say, I met my boyfriend ~1 year in my natural journey wearing braids most of the times and experimenting with my hair between braid jobs. My boyfriend was clean shaven, suit wearing guy.

The 1st time I twist my hair, he took one look at me and told me to never do that again. The 1st time he saw my hair after the wash he called me the scary lady (lol!). Basically saying he was scared.

Let me say that we have now been married 10 years, I'm the twist queen, he now wears locs as well as our 7 yo son.

I have been noticing the he doesn't like our 5 yo daughter's hair to be "nappy". I keep telling him that her hair is fine and won't lay down like he wants. Just go with it. But I see him trying to smooth her hair up and it's starting to piss me off. So after 10 years I still have to do a little more work on him.

I guess what I'm saying is be you! Don't worry about what he thinks. If he is meant to be your man, he'll be your man.
hey scary lady!!!! see that i can appreciate, he was honest about his feelings

also @diva04
no guy will see my natural right now (unless wash day<>-----my point)
b/c i don't like the style as much on me
plus i'm really tall, not trying to go all serena on em'!

i actually wore braids 90% of the time in my relaxed days ....just adore braids....but to properly treat, they have to come down frequently

one of the BIGGEST...... MAY THE WHOLE REASON I DECIDE NATURAL WAS THE BOMB WAS B/C OF YOUTUBER----> LONGHAIRDONTCARE2011

SICK WIT IT!
JUST SICK<---- HER "NATURAL" HAIR IN BRAIDS & TWISTS
SO ONCE I GET THRU THE $1,000 (at least) braiding hair in my house (SO SERIOUS PEOPLE.... YA'LL DON'T KNOW HOW OCD I AM ABOUT HAIR PRODUCTS, ETC)...... THEN NO MORE WEAVE (HOPEFULLY EVER)

NOW DIVA04<----HOLLA IF YOU WANNA SELL SOME OF THOSE ITCHY PRODUCTS

I think she meant it as, most people Relax their kids hair at an early age and some at 2-3 years old. So if your niece was relaxed she wouldn't be surprised. But I think it was just a general statement, not nothing to offend you or your Family.

Yeah thats what i meant. I forgot about this thread. :yep::yep:

I think most folks like the pibbs on here. It's so bad, ladies give their steamers names. It's funny I know, but If I had a pibbs steamer, I'd name her too.:lachen:

If you do a search, you'll find folks with the 514, 512. Here are some starter threads to read, you might find a steamer of interest;

He didn't like it at first but it grew on him. But that was over 2 years ago and it has grown quite a bit too. He loves it now. Now if I could just get him to keep his hands off of it.

If you do your research and follow the "napptural protocol" :) your hair will be conditioner tamed and on it's very best behavior when you get out of the shower. Some people think their wet with conditioner look is their best hair of the day. You won't be using an afro pick ... unless you want one. Most people these days use wide toothed detangler/shower combs and/or denman brushes. At that point you either blow dry or stretch with twists, braids, etc., etc. Once you get the hang of it - it is easy and you'll look good.

For what it's worth, I don't think Bo Derek looked good.

Yay, my first post

For realz, if your dating a black guy he's seen his sister/moms whoever walk around for days halfway through taking out braids/weave/whatevers nothing you show him will shock him.
If he's not black he won't even notice, for reals, wont notice at all.

Now how do you bring up the issue of tying your satin scarf/bonnet at night thats what i wanna know??? do you put it in your purse so you can whip it out when you do sleepovers???
