Terrible, just terrible. I am really unsure of when the next time I am stepping into a stylists chair again. It's been a year for me now.

After watching Tabatha's show I'm not surprised some stylists do this. She watched a customer ask for an inch trim and the stylist trimmed too much. When Tabatha asked the stylist how much she thought an inch was she held up her fingers about 3 inches apart. So whoever comes in there asking her for an inch trim is getting a 3 inch trim regardless. I'm sure many more do this or a variation of this

I think that a lot of it had to do with the fact that the woman was distracted with her 2 year old. Never bring a young child in the salong with you if they cannot sit still and behave yourself.

But to what Foxglove has said i have found that to be the truth. Sometimes customers will come in and as for 2 inches off and then I take out my comb and make sure that we are talking the same two inches 8 times out of 10 they want a little bit more cut off than one they said. Example when they hold up their thumb and index finger to say show 2 inches that they are actually showing is 2.5-3 inches.

This is why I don't understand why stylists don't pull out rulers. If I were a stylist, please believe if someone was asking me for a specific amount, out would come the ruler.

I would be watching my own a** so to speak, or maybe literally, since some of y'all was threatening bodily harm :lachen:.

It seems like it would be good to have the ruler to make sure the stylist and client are on the same page. Then trim a piece, let the client see. Then trim the row and let the client see. If it's all good, then keep on trimming.

Time consuming, but it seems like it would be worth it...for the happiness and safety  of all involved.:yep:

A foot off of somebody's head? Wow. She did that on purpose. How you gon' cut a foot of hair off when they told you 5 inches? Shoot. I would have got back to my roots in a quick minute!

I agree, that was no accident. You cannot stand there and cut off 12 inches without knowing what you're doing. I'll be honest there have been times I've let a stylist cut an 1-2 inches without saying anything, but 2 YEARS WORTH OF GROWTH?!?!?! Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, no!

I was reading through this thread... and i told my mom about this

12 inches?! Really? If that ever happened to me, my new name would be Inmate #22567490 instead of Erica...

quote... :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: and she asked me did I tell ya'll about what happened to her hair? (I think she's becoming one of us)... :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

My mom got a touch-up three weeks ago. The stylist asked her if she wanted bangs (My mom is 70 years old). She told her she hates bangs. Not only did my mom come home with most of the front of her hair at about four to six inches, her formerly APL length hair in the back is now grazing her shoulders.

I think that she'd already cut the hair before she asked. Plus, she was ticked off because I talked my mom into doing a ten-week stretch. I wash, condition, and rollerset my mom's hair once a week. So really, all she has to do is put the relaxer in. But before I moved back home my mom went to her every two weeks and faithfully relaxed every six weeks. So her $$$$ from my mom have been greatly reduced.

I personally do my own relaxers. The last time I needed a trim this stylist did it for me, but SHE KNOWS BETTER than to cut off more than I ask for!!!!! :hardslap: I do not think she is going to be cutting mom's hair for a while! :lachen:

That's true, that is kind of extreme for a mistake. what a shame :nono:
