I just wanted to get a feel for the average height of some of you WL beauties. :) This thread is not meant to shortchange anyone's achievements. I'd love to see pics of tall WL women. If ya'll have any, please post! Pretty please. :)

ETA: If you guys have measurements, please post those too! Thanks! :)

I'm 5.2-5.3". When measured from the front hairline, my longest layers are around 30". Hope that helps?

It shouldn't since the lenght of neck and torso matter. I have a very tall friend with a very short torso who reached WL in months and I've been at it for years LOL!

I'm 5'1" with a long neck.

I am an inch from WL and I am 5'6". I know that there are some tall WL members that I've met IRL - Tee and SuperGirl.

My older daughter is butt length but she is only 4'7". They younger one is WL and 5'0".

Wow!! That's a lot of hair! I think that would be WL on me too!

You're right. I wanted to ask for the measurements because I know some of us have longer/shorter torsos, or longer/shorter necks, but I don't think many measure by inches.

Thanks Ms.Bianca!!:yep:

Thank you for this poll. And ladies, if you have kept track of actual measurements, please let us know! I think that's the most accurate way of judging since torsos can be an issue.

I'm 5'8" and wish i was even taller:grin:.

ETA....I think we should go back to measuring our hair in inches. I remember when i first joined that's all everyone did. Most everyone had their hair inches in their siggy. Anyone else remember that?

I think that would definitely help, but um...where exactly do measure, from the very back, or the longest layer, etc? I've thought about this before, and got all confused. lol

I have 1-2 inches to go before i reach WL but i am 5'8....i'm the shortest in my house!! My little sister is 6'1...she's natural and on BHM...and then my mom is 5'10-11 and my dad is 6'7.

If I remember correctly everyone was measuring from the hairline all the way back to the ends.

Jealous of your height!! Your hair must be super long!! I would love to be taller myself 5'8" - 6'0".

I don't think I was lurking back then, but I totally agree that this is a superior method. I tired to start a thread on this but I got no real interest: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=450898&highlight=length

Maybe we can start the trend by using inches when we talk about our hair, putting actual numbers in our sigs and prompting people to give inch numbers instead of body spots. I've been whining about this since I re-joined, so I'm all down for a movement!

Yea I just find the inches to be interesting because the body parts and bra straps are so different on everyone. It's not a huge deal, i just find it more interesting/accurate. Wonder why members stopped doing that?....it wasn't just here but all over the hair boards, hmmm.

I'll try to measure mine one day and put it in my siggy. I hope I can do it myself because I think I'm embarassed to ask anyone.:look:

I wish I was already WL, but I hope to be there by Dec. 2010 at the latest (unstretched). Though I'm only 5'2.5", or 62.5 inches, I still have a little ways to go to get to WL (3 inches). I might already be there, but I haven't straightened my hair hard in a long time...my hair hangs at MBL unstretched with NG unstraightened, so maybe pressed it would be at WL. Who knows? lol Last summer in July, I decided to measure my hair and length marks in inches (i.e. BSL on me is 14 inches, MBL=17 inches, WL=20-21", TL/Classic=26", HL=25.5"). The HL mark is slightly shorter, because the hip bone sits up higher than the sacral region/coccyx or tailbone.

I have a good 9 inches to get to my main goal of TL or Classic. I agree that measuring in inches is a bit more specific than just saying "WL" since everyone's height is different, and the time it takes to get there varies widely due to height and stature (i.e. long torso, short-waisted, etc).

I did say that it's my longest layers. Those layers are or very close to hip length.

There's no way I can measure where it hits on my waist without having someone do it for me (no way I'm getting anyone in my family to do that so they'll thing I'm 1 can short of 6-pack :lachen:)

I guess the bottom line is long hair is long hair and regardless of whether you're short, regular or tall - it looks long and pretty and that's what really counts, right?

I'd just hate to see us start dividing ourselves (more) - we've already got natural vs. relaxed sensitives running rampant, this would be just another log to add to the marcel oven.

Well, I'm wishing you gain your weight and grow your hair so you can be as lovely as our friend Bernice from the hula festival. :yep: I have about 6" - 8" to go for my goal length. But hey, we only have about a year left if we grow and retain properly. That's cool.

LOL! I'm sure you can do it yourself, but I hope you can find someone who is down with your hair affair. If you're not opposed to white lies you can just say you want to buy a hair product that's for X-inches (like curlformers or something) and you don't know how long your hair is.

I'd just hate to see us start dividing ourselves (more) - we've already got natural vs. relaxed sensitives running rampant, this would be just another log to add to the marcel oven.

Actually it's, quite the opposite. If we do something in a uniform way we will be more unified as a group overall. Uniformity bonds people. I fail how wanting to be more accurate in understanding each others' hair is a negative thing.

I'm 5'3. For me, full waist length is about 31 inches. I started measuring when I was at about APL, which was 23 inches. It took me about 21 months to make reach waist from APL, but I did some trimming along the way to maintain an even hemline.

I'm nowhere near WL, but I agree! Quoting from a member's siggy "A watched pot never boils!" Knowing someone's height, neck, torso still doesn't tell you when you will get to your hair goal length. It's determined by your growth rate and hair retention. I've seen many who are my height (5'2) and lower go from a BC to WL in 3 years, yet I'm barely at APL and have been trying to grow for 2 1/2 years! It is what it is.

This is soo inspirational! And althought my goal is MBL it will be a major achievement for me since i'm 6'0 tall :) I was about an inch and a half away about 4 months ago but had a set back that took about 4" off my hair. :( I'm currently back at BSL with the hopes of reaching full MBL Dec of 2010.

Here's my hypothetical LHCF (or any board for that matter) scenario:

Happy Camper: Hooray, I'm BSL!!!!! Finally!!!! **jumps up and down with joy**!!

?: How many inches is your hair and how tall are you?

Happy Camper: My hair is 10" and I'm 4.5".

?: Oh. (or) That's nice but that would only be EL for me because I'm 5.11".

**hears the sounds of deflated balloons in the room**

Enyo - just call me the crazy lady 'cause I might not say stuff but I sure do be thinking it .

Your first post actually made me remember how it used to be with the inches.

I don't think you can get anymore divided than it is here now, lol. One of the reasons I don't frequent the hair section anymore.

OK, Lynnie. I got you. LOL! I guess it's my mentality. Like I said in my other thread, I just have to ways of looking at it. If someone says "this made my hair grow to WL", we are all gonna flock to the thread. But if we find out chica is 4' tall, we aren't going to be doing back flips to the store to buy the product she used. I'd still be happy, but I'd be able to put it in to perspective for myself. I want to be supportive, but I also want to be able to gauge people's success if I'm considering copying their technique.

I understand your point too :D but I'd hope board members don't toss the baby out with the bath water because whether you're 4ft or 7 ft, if something grew 6 inches of hair in 9 months, we all need to be paying attention.

Hell I do LOL! Doesn't mean imma put any ole junk up in my hair or walk around with a wet head all day but if someone said they oiled their scalp with EVOO or CO/co-washed/whatever for an entire 9 months and had that kind of growth - HUMPH - I'm clicking that link :lachen: to see what's up. Might not agree with it but I will click that link with an open mind.

I'm 5'8
It took me 2 yrs to go from Apl to WL. And an additional year to get majority of my hair length there(to get rid of the v shape). Now I'm working towards hip length.

I am 5'3, and like you I have a long neck. Body compostion matters much more than height. I completely agree with you. When I cut my hair a few years back to a chin length bob, it felt like it took forever to get to shoulder. So I have learned my lesson. If I ever want to cut again, it will be never be above the shoulder. :nono:
