POLL!! How Many Inches Did You Gain in 2010?



I've seen a lot of end-of-year progress pics and they are awesome! Greeeaat hair porn!

BUT... sometimes its hard to see exactly how many inches were gained.

Yea, yea... I know the average is 6 inches a year -- healthy is more important than length -- growth speed is mostly based on genetics -- and that retention is key I know all of this.

HOWEVER, this is called Long Hair Care Forum lol! So....

It would be interesting to know exactly how many inches of hair people gained last year.


Also, if you'd like.. Please share the following:

1. How many inches did you gain in 2010?
2. Did you use any growth aids?
3. Did you trim your hair at all?
4. Current length?

3. After years of hiding my hair under sew-ins and neglecting to take care of my real hair underneath, I had to trim nearly 3 inches of damage off. So, while my hair grew about 7 inches last year, I was only able to retain 4. Lesson learned.

1. How many inches did you gain in 2010? 3" tp 3 1/2". I had my last relaxer in May 2010 (still kicking myself for not going natural back then) and my hair was EL to NL. I cut off all the relaxed hair in Nov and was left with 3" at the time.
2. Did you use any growth aids? Not until mid-Nov. I'm taking GNC Women's Mega, GNC HSN, and MSM now.
3. Did you trim your hair at all? Yep, I did mini trim until I finally did the big chop.
4. Current length? NL. I'm at 3 1/2" to 4" now.

I started my HHJ in July and stopped relaxing at that point too. I have 3" of natural hair and some relaxed hair in a long layered bob. I trimmed to NL in September, now the longest layer is SL.

2. Did you use any growth aids? I was taking biotin at the beginning and mid 2010 for nail growth but the side affect hair was too much so I stopped
3. Did you trim your hair at all? My hair grew a bunch after my first set of braids (March), then I put in a weave and my hair matted up when I took it down so I had to trim/ rip out a lot of hair. Then I BC'd in September and have since then grown 2-3.5 inches (the front is still growing really slowly)
4. Current length? 6.5" in the crown, 7.25" at the nape and 4.5" in the front

I'm not terribly pleased with my retention for last year. I BC'd down to about half an inch on 1-25-10.

I did some minor trimming, but have, and still am suffering from mild breakage. Can't seem to get it to stop no matter what I do.

I used Silica, Biotin, Hair Skin and Nails, and Garlic. They ain't do ish for my hair, but my nails and skin appreciated them, so I keep taking them.

3. Did you trim your hair at all? I trimmed an inch in July and an inch and a half in December before taking my final length pictures. Besides that, I just stuck to regular dusting and search and destroys.

4. Current length? APL. I trimmed another two inches yesterday and got rid of some of my V.

a. 2 inches I don't know what's going on with my body. I could have been stress related. I dyed my hair in March, so I can see the demarcation of brown and black. So far, 2 inches, half the rate it normally grows.

a. Off and on, I used a GNC women's nail, hair, skin vitamin. I also took MSM for joints.

3. Did you trim your hair at all?

a. Yes, I trimmed between 1-3 inches. I am counting the hair that got cut when I got my hair dyed as well. To be honest, I need another inch taken off.

4. Current length?

a. My length is just below my shoulders in the back, and it's a smidge past my jawline in the front.

1. How many inches did you gain in 2010? I voted for 7. But it's a guesstimate because I started out around Bra Strap and now I'm almost Hip

3. Did you trim your hair at all? Yes, I trimmed in February, and then did a trim and cut layers into it in September (but the longest layer was just a trim and that's what I go by for my length checks)

4. Current length? Past Waist....I'm a couple inches from Hip Length.

1. How many inches did you gain in 2010? I gained ~4-5 inches. I'm really suprised b/c I thought I was a slower grower until I actually measured the point where I started a yr ago to where I currently am and realized that I actually got 6-7 inches growth. I guess it just doesn't feel like it b/c I'm kind of tall and it takes longer to reach certain landmarks.
2. Did you use any growth aids? No, I fell off of the hair vitamins; unless you count jojoba oil mixed w/ essential oils
3. Did you trim your hair at all? Yes I trimmed ~1-2 inches

Oh, i thought you wanted us to put how much we ACTUALLY thought we gained in 2010....so i put 8

Well if i hadn't relaxed my hair back in May of 2010....i would have between 6-8 inches of hair on my head right now....

2. Did you use any growth aids?
I was using Bee Mine for a minute there and then i stopped....very inconsistent.....hmmmm....maybe i'll try it again?

3. Did you trim your hair at all?
Yes i did....i think i trimmed like an inch of last year

4. Current length?
A medium sized afro that stretches to CBL...according to my nape

Using my siggie pic I gained 3.5in from June to Dec...I calculated 0.5in per month. During just this period I trimmed in Oct. I think the stylist cut about a cm off.

Gained- 5in I'm guessing
Growth Aids- nothing consistent, megatek every now and then
Trimmed- dusted a few times, 1 salon trim
Current length- btwn sl and apl

my last relaxer was mid-January 2010 and I BC'ed in July. when I measured in December I had 4-5 inches in most areas. I'm in a weave until the end of Jan so I wont get to do any 1 year post measuring until then

2. Did you use any growth aids? yes, I've been alernating a MegaTek and a Miconozale mixture. I took Hair, skin and nails vitamins for maybe a month but I had a unusually bad breakout so I stopped. To date I'm not sure if any of the aids have contributed significantlly to any growth but they aren't hurting so I'll continue for the rest of 2011.

3. Did you trim your hair at all? not since the BC, maybe in July when/if I straighten for the anniversary

4. Current length? NL, hopefully closing in on SL soon

nothing apart from regular multi, vitamin D&A and Omega 6 (I don't consider these to be growth aids)

Past mid-back, I don't measure

I figure I have negative growth because my hair is super thick and coily and it has been growing rather quickly and I use to cut every 3 months. I changed to every other month because my hair at this length is the most managable. Any longer, as it has grown a few times and it is a major pain.
