Ignore that crazy lady and please please plezse be careful when it does get that long. She may trim you back to SL saying your ends are damaged or some stupid mess.:perplexed

Yes! that is what they did to my sister whos hair was midback! She went to the Bahamas and did not wash her hair everyday after swimming. She came back the the states and the stylist cut her hair to a BOB saying that it was too damaged.

No attempt to restore, just a huge chop..such a shame. she is struggling to get back.

A lot of people talk foolishness because they know no better but a lot more people try to speak defeat into other people's heads because they don't want others to achieve what they haven't achieved. I don't know which category your stylist belongs in but I'd say be careful about letting someone who isn't supportive of your hair goals get near your hair. I've found that a lot of black people are jealous of other black people who can grow long hair, so your stylist might actually not want you to get as far as waist-length.

I agree with everyone who said to be very careful & keep an eye on your stylist or find a new one.

When I told my former stylist that I didn't want my hair to stay the same length she yelled :orders: "Some hair just doesn't get any longer!" At the time my hair was just past SL, not yet APL. I had been asking her to trim at every other touch-up instead of every touch-up and she had been getting upset. She would trim, then 6 weeks after the trim she would tell me how damaged my ends were and how I needed another trim.

I got rid of her and found a stylist who respects me and my hair.

First of all, your hair is bra strap length. That's a heck of an accomplishment in itself, considering that most black women have trouble growing their hair past their shoulders. So that would lead me to believe that your hair has great growing potential. Second of all, are they prophets or something? Can they predict the future? If they can they need to tell me the winning numbers to the lotto, but if not they shouldn't make assumptions in things they don't know about. When you reach waist length, you better walk back into that salon and strut your stuff in front of all those deniers. Show 'em who's boss!

I hear you on this. People hardly believe I had extremely long hair until they saw the photos. I only cut it back then because as a teenager I was tired of having people ask me if it was a weave. Just stay on your mission!

I pointed to waist and told my stylist " I want my hair this long" She smirked and replied " your hair will never get that long"

I was disheartened a little..but remembered that their is a misperception among stylist and people in general about black women and hair growth.

Then i decided to see who else thought this...I turned to male friend #1 " do you think i can grow my hair this long" ..." Probably not" he replied

i asked two more people and they both shot me down clear outta of the blue sky from my waist length mission. ( I'm currently bsl)

But guess what folks, they dont know I got LHCF, a killer regimen, quality staple products, and a serious determination to shine some light of the misperception about our ability to grow hair!

At first i just wanted to have long sexy hair, now this has become more of a movement! a statement to society! I need some support up in this mothalova...who is with me?:boxing:

Thats right! You preach it, sista! Show all of their ignorant behinds that it can be done.

That is sooo sad. I hate when we do this to each other. That is why I don't share my hair goals with anyone.

yes so from now on I'm keeping quiet. i do have a friend who went away to LA for 2 years and came back at waist length. Everybody was in awe of her beautiful ( natural) hair. She is still the talk od the town and she has been back for like two years.

She did not go around telling everyone what she was gonna do. she just came to my house and took off her du rag. me and my sisters all fell to the floor and played in her hair all night.:worship2: ( she went from apl to waist length in two years)

I must admit though....I kinda like haters. They make me better(singing the song in my head). If someone has to speak negativity in your life you are already better than them.Just don't stoop to their level and allow it to bother you. And when they are in aww tell them to step they hair game up!

one of my new philosophies in life is, "if nobody's hating on me today, i must be doing something wrong!" :lachen:

You well have WL hair in no time , don't listen to those haters :nono: . I agree with everyone else keep your hair goals to yourself, because most people well only shoot you down if you tell them.
I'm trying to get to MBL by Jan 08  then WL here I come :yay::yay::yay:, but I would not Dare tell a soul except my fellow LHCF .

We are all here for you. My SO does not believe I will be able to grow my hair to waiste length. Well, I can't wait to prove him wrong. We fuss all the time about growing hair.

He says that all black women can't grow long hair and that some people's hair just doesn't grow and thinks that if they are mixed their hair will automatically grow. He thinks I'm crazy because I told him that we all (with the exception some with medical conditions etc.) grow hair, retaining length is another story.

Just keep achieving that length and prove them wrong!

That is messed up because I had the opposite experience this weekend with my beautician. She was flat ironing my hair and said "Q I bet you could grow your hair all the way to your butt if you wanted". I told her that was my ultimate goal and I wanted to get there by next year. She said "I think you will do it too". Just like the others said, the proof will be when your hair is actually that length then you can walk around like Kanye "uh unh you can't tell me nothing"!!! Q

This happen to me too. I told my sisters about growing my hair WL. One asked how much longer do I think it's going to take. The other asked could she play in it once it get that long. They alway tell me when I say I'm going to do something over and over again I usually do it.

Me... and yeah I think your stylist was implying 'stop coming to me because I don't know what I'm doing'... especially for saying some crap like that.
