WTF of the Day - Mom Straightens Her 4 Month Old's Hair!!!

My friend just got her 5 month old daughter's ears pierced and that seemed way too young to me to be worrying about her having earrings. But when I asked my friend about it, she just came back with, "Nope! She's not too young."

Sometimes you just can't tell people about what they do with their kids.

I and every girl in my family got/gets/will get their ears pierced in the hospital or within the first week or two after birth. In my family, that's just the way it is. It's not a big deal. God has yet to smit any of us. *shrug* different strokes for different folks.

ETA: this has gone on for generations............at least 4 that I know of.

This.

My ears were pierced as a baby, and i have no memory of it to be upset about. Plus a nice way to add decoration to my body.

I'm against this because I can think of no way to make 4 month old baby stay still long enough to have their hair straightened. This is putting her at risk of getting burnt for absolutely no reason oether than a "cute" for like two day hairstyle. At least with piercing, and circumcision it's one-time pain for a lifetime change.

People do different things to their children for beauty, is all im trying to say. Some pierce ears, some cut their childs genitals. I dont approve of her straightening her daughters hair, but its her kid. You risk burning your child with the flat iron just like you risk infections with piercing and circumcision. *Kanye shrug*

Her daughter will find us when she gets older.

wonder if that could cause the baby to have permanent bald spots? I heard of people that got permanent bald spots from kiddie perms. It is not a good look to be twenty with a big hole in the back your head. :nono:

My main gripe about this is how this mother thought it'd be safe enough to flat iron a FOUR-MONTH-OLD child's hair. Isn't the head still not fully developed and very sensitive during the first couple of years?

that is dangerous .....4 months and flat ironing . already messing up babies hair.. any way its her daughter ...

i remember à woman bleaching her 2 sons ( both under 8)..one was like 4 or 5. stupidity on that.
