my roommate NOT wash her hair or do anything to it after being in the pool today, comb it at 5 minute intervals since approx. 8 pm..it's now almost 3 am..now, she just poured herself a nice big handful of pink oil lotion and rubbed it forcefully over her head then pick up her faithful rat tail comb, wrap her hair, and tie it on extra tight with a cotton bandana..

ahhhhh, and she told me MY hair would fall out last night when I put some leave in and oil in it...

Geez, what condition is her hair in?

It really looks like the smiley with the antlers...except it sticks up everywhere until she puts it in a pony. She flat irons it like 3 times a week , so its pretty badly broken off and thin. Sucks for here cause if she wasn't such a B----, I might share my knowledge...but oh no! This is the one time I will not share the knowledge from the boards

I agree Cheerbear. Sometimes you just can't stand in the way of a fool being a fool. She'd really have a lot to say if she saw you doing daily CO washes huh? Poor thing.

I really think we should help this girl out. maybe u can write the URL in one of her notebooks Cheerbear. maybe she wants healthy hair but doesnt know the first thing to do.

how about printing this thread and leaving it for her to read? Some of us were
nuts.gif
about our hair at some point - she could stand to learn a thing or two...

Some people are crazy - did she not at least rinse the chlorine out?
Can you imagine the smell of her hair - chlorine, burnt hair & Pink Lotion

Good idea! You all may have your differences, but I would hate for her to end up losing most of her hair. I'd suggest showing her the forum while you're online, that way she can see it's legitimate and how much good hair care advice is here. You all may not see eye to eye, but please don't let her end up bald. The combination of a rattail comb, chlorine, and pink oil is a recipe for massive breakage and shedding!!!!

:-)

Ok ok ok fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. But this is only for yall.....I'll have her check it out for yourself..but I dont know if it will do anything, her and her friends make fun of me and my hair board...

Well we don't need no trolls here. Maybe pull up a thread about post swimming hair care or make a product recommendation? Since you made some, ah colorful comments about her, and I called her a fool, uh and a troll, this may not be the post to print out for her. Ya know?

if you don't say anything at least be there to help her pick her hair up from off of the ground..lol

Brooke, you were thinking what I was, no need for her to come here to troll. She doesn't sound like she's out of denial about her own hair abuse.

I think it's very kind to offer help, but is she willing to accept help?

You cannot help people that are unwilling to help themselves...however, I do think that it is sad that she is not even willing to do the basics (rinsing chlorine out of your hair).

Okay i found a few helpful threads that you could print and give to the troll, uh I mean roommate. Here ya go cheerb. promise to let us know how it goes:
Swimming 1

Swimming 2

Swimming 3
^This last thread has an item that suggests using a neutralizing shampoo after swimming.

From coilgirl: I live in Florida where I swim a lot. Here are my steps

1) coat hair with conditioner and jojoba oil before stepping into the pool.
2) I swim in braids, twists or ponytails.
3) I swim with a cute scarf with my hair either fully covered or peeping out down the back (My very, very coily hair is almost bra-strap length)

These steps minimize tangles, protect against chlorine and keep me looking good while I swim.

After a swim, I always rinse out that dreaded chlorine water.

Nah, she isnt bald but that's only because her hair is braided...but oh yes, once they are out, she will resume the customary 3 x's a week flat ironing
