I really want hair that covers my boobies too.

Also I think I just like long hair. After I get my relaxed hair to where I want it to be I'm gonna go natural. Then I'll have something new (sort of) to be obsessed about.

1. I love the way my hair feels and I want to be able run my fingers through it all the way to my waist.
2. Long hair is typically what makes a woman feel feminine
3. I'm tired of people thinking that Blacks need to be mixed to have long hair.
4. Hair is one of the first things a person sees when they meet you so why should it be crappy looking?
5. Hair can show a person's overall health
6. I always tell my Indian friend when she gets cold to use her thick waist length hair as a blankey. I want to be able to do that too!
7. Long hair (if it's not too too long) = LOW MAINTENANCE
8. I'm tired of hair that is 3-4 inches below my shoulders I want below bra-strap or **hopefully** waist length hair

I have always had short, well when I was little medium, but shorter than chin length hair. everytime my hair did grow significantly I got happy and stopped the maintence and it broke off again.

So I want to get it right this time!

Show my cousin that I canhave long natural 4A hair, hah!

Also my boyfriend( hopefully fiance) loves long hair, achieving it will make us both happy

YES!

I'm more concerned about hair health than hair style. My styles tend to be simple and plain - natural hair pulled into a low puff, pressed hair parted on the side or down the middle with ends bumped under, braidouts - but the healthy look and feel of my hair adds to its attractivenss IMO. And I also believe that length follows health.

This is exactly what I've been preaching! I mean, I already know my regimen once my hair reaches brastrap length....lol. I know that I'll just continue to wash it daily and put it in a bun. Damn, I'm ready! lol

I got tired of being atthe same length for years.
Trying to prove to my family that just because my hair is "nappy/hard/knotty" aka coarse that it can reach great lengths and look pretty darn good!

The real reason I am obsessed with my hair is because it was long and started to break off at the new growth (bad relaxer). Without verbalizing it, I'd had the goal of waist length hair for many years - just not obsessively. I got regular trims...very regular trims...too regular trims!

Now, I'm obsessed b/c I am so anxious to see a head full of my natural hair and get it healthy again.

-Because my USED to be long enough to sit on and THEN some
-Because I want it to be that length again
-Because it's my favorite feature besides my eyes.

Longhairgoal stole mine.

So ditto to what she said....

I also have a whole spiritually based "femininity" philosophy that is too long to get into here...but that's why too.

I'm also growing it in honor of my maternal grandmother, whose natural 4a hair was long enough to sit on.

Because I feel that a woman with a head full of healthy, shiny hair that isn't sewn in or glued in or otherwise attached, whether naturally straight, relaxed, or naturally nappy or curly is just a beautiful thing. When the hair is healthy, most often than not, so is the woman underneath it all.

i am obssessed with my hair b/c i'm realize that I can grow it long, so i REALLY REALLY want to

Midback+ hair will be the longest my hair has been relaxed.

I want to grow longer hair for college, i dont know why, just because

With long hair, you can do low-maintenance styles and still look cute.

I love long ponytails and I can't wait to sport one... big goal there :)

Because I spent so long in combat boots I felt like a boy.
Because I spent so long in unifoms of one kind or another with my hair not being able to touch my collar.
Because I used to have long hair and abused the heck out of it and it left me, and now I want it back.
Because it <may> make up for my ever widening back yard, if you catch my drift.
Because I will be able to "wash and go" in the summer (when it gets long enough) like I did when I was a kid.
Because of the versatility.
But all of these things are FOR ME.

Want to see what it feels like to have long hair. There are a lot of preconceived notions out there that having long hair makes people treat you differently. This is like an experiment for me and I can't wait for the result. I am documenting the progress and reaction as I go along and will provide a report at the end of this interesting journey.

Because I have OCD :look: .......................................

j/k--

1.because I have generally healthy hair, but it's never been LONG, so I think I am intrigued with the challenge to grow it.
2. i finally decided not to go natural...and I am happy about that.
3. i think the transitioning phase is what got me obsessed to begin with, honestly.(it was new and I was enthralled in it )

Im obsessed with my hair because I can go out with no makeup of any type but as long as my hair looks good, I feel I look good.

I am obessed because I know that I can do it. My Mom and two of three aunts all long hair. When I don't do much to my hair it grows. About 5 years ago, my hair was on the track to being long. I don't know what happened.

I second that. Longer healthier looking hair would not hurt either. I also look better with my hair down, than up. I feel that if I wear it down, it makes me feel better about myself.

I'm obsessed because

I used to have really long hair as a child and i want it back.
I want my mum to shut it about how my hair USED to be lovely.
Some of my friends have hair to die for
I believe I look better with longer hair tied in a ponytail.

Im not as obsessed anymore, but I would like my hair to be long again. Since I cut my hair freshman year of college, it hasnt been midback length since. Once you cut your hair, it becomes addicting lol.

Because my family is FULL of people with loong hair- in fact all my immediate cousins had hair from mid-back to waist length. Everytime I was with them in the early years, others made me feel like i didn't belong in the family because my hair wasn't as "good" nor was it even long. In fact, I remember this one incident where me and 3 of my cousins were at this lady's house- i don't remember what reason- and she was like, 'gee, I don't know what it is with yall family- everyone just has long beautiful hair!' And then she glanced at me and she didn't say anything, but her look was like, well except you...
crazy.gif

Another time, 3 of us were with my uncle and a friend of his came up to the car (we were in) and gushed " HEY GORGEOUS!!!" to one cousin, then "HI BEAUUUUUTIFULLL!!!!" to another, then last and least, turned to me and less enthusiastically and less genuinely, said "Hi Pretty!"
I just always felt like an ugly duckling in comparison to my cousins- it was 2 in particular that i was always around and they both had waist-length Type 2 hair. Everyone treated them differently and wanted to show them off and wanted them to visit them etc. Keep in mind this was early years, from like when we were 4 to like, 12 (the 3 of us are about the same age).
Sorry about the long story.
Point is, I just want to grow my hair out...i suppose it's kind of sad and not the greatest reason, but to feel more part of the family
crazy.gif
. Besides, about 5 years ago (I was about 17) one of those cousins, after I mentioned a length I intended to grow my hair, told me my hair couldn't grow that long if I tried for 80 years. She figured my hair was too 'nappy'.
I'll show her!! I just started the long hair challenge in February, so I'm giving myself about 2-3 years to reach my goals...
crystalball.gif

and look at your hair now girl!!!!

1) Because i know now what I never knew
2) Because it was long as a child and easily APL
3) Because long hair looks sexy
4) Because its my Biblical covering
5) Because family members/friends will never believe I can grow long hair

I want to see if I if can and I am really enjoying the process. It has become a theraputic experience.

I feel more attractive with longer hair - I know beauty comes from within but I personally seem to have more confidence with longer hair...What is weird is that it does not have to be down. As a matter of fact I prefer my hair in a loose up do, Its just knowing.

I am considering opening a salon and would like to use my hair as proof that it can be done.

*** Here is my scoop: I am tryin' to grow my hair longer than my BF ex. She is about four months ahead of me and I cant wait to just surpass her****

Plus unfortunately society has filled the heads of many of our male counterparts with the notion that long hair is good. I get more comments now that my hair is growing and done well. My confidence level goes up a notch when my hair is blowing in the wind.

1) Cause once you had your hair that was healthy and then was damaged, you become obsessed to get it back to the healthy state again.
2) Becuase it a fun hobby to have ( learning about hair care) and something that you can experiment with-like a whole new world being opened to you
3) Trying hair styles, techniques and products is a way to experiment with your look, especially in boring corporate america where you dont have much leeway to change up your wardrobe
4) You can have your outfit, shoe game, nails, makeup and skin on point but you hair can make or break a first impression!

1. Because when I was little and my hair was 100% natural it was a fro (im guessing 4B)- the hair felt like a damn brillo pad and somewhere along the line, my texture changed- now its like a spanish wavy (3C)..and i became conscious that if I wanted to have beautiful hair, I need to be really attentive to what it needs.

2. Because other people made me. I used to want that straight smooth hair and wondered why I didnt have it. When my texture changed, all everyone would do was talk about my hair and start bossing me around on the things they felt i wasnt doing- it actually grew to be quite ridiculous.

3. Because I want to break steryotypes. I never did like the steryotypes that black women cant grow long hair. I think its ridiculous, dumb, and very offensive. I want to prove that we can grow healthy long hair. This is my personal challenge.

4. Just because. One day after an interesting talk with my boyfriend, I came to a realization that I want to have almost waistlength hair by the time I was pregnant with our first child lol so he or she could play with it and cos he likes to play with it too. I think thats the cutest.

5. Because I feel like I look right with it. I dont feel like i look right with shorter hair. I have really big lips and an apple head and cheekbones and it just dont look right. lol.. my ish looks all imbalanced. Thats a big factor to grow longer hair.

6. Because ive never been concerned about my hair before. I have never been concerned about it before.. now I really am starting to be more concerned about the texture about everything. I want to really treat my hair good so it can be beautiful and healthy.

7. Damn pueto ricans lol. My mom has that long *steryotyped* puerto rican hair that she just started growing out two years ago and now its almost to waistlength. its weird how our hair worked out. she had that long smooth silky hair, i have the wavy straight texture but my hair doesnt grow very fast, and my sis has that hair that grows so fast but its all napped up.. damn genetics..lol me and my sis totally switched hair at some point..

8. Because I felt sexier. When I grew one noticeable inch because of mtg, i felt so sexy and over the top..its funny cos i have such low confidence, because im not puerto rican enough for the puerto ricans and im not black enough for the blacks in my vision. Either my hair is too wavy or too long or too SOMETHING. I get mean looks from the girls at my bf's school cos they all beautiful- everything. but most have weave and here i come with my real hair and they get jealous as anything because although I think i look busted lol im not afraid to be me.

9. Because my boyfriend takes pride in it. not necessarily the length he says he doesnt see the point for really long hair. but its funny for me because i want really long healthy hair. he loves that my hair is real and i dont use anything like weaves/phony ponies..etc., Im just me. he loves it. Im the only girl hes dated thats worn their real hair.

10. Ive always thought women of all races look good with their real hair- it shows they embrace themselves. Its just me and i dont mean to offend, but Ive done a running poll of what men say and most like women with natural hair, no matter what texture or shape its in. it shows they are confident and arent afraid- fearless and boundless. I think all women look good in their most natural state.

i know this was more than ANY OF YOU wanted to know..lol but once i got typin i couldnt stop hahaha..

because I have had problems with my hair all my life. since i was little even up to now (im 21) people still make fun of on my hair. i remember when i was in 5th grade and this guy said to me "look that first grader has more hair than you". and in my family hair is a big deal. my grandmother always used to say "your hair is your beauty". i dont want my hair long. even brastrap i think that would be too long for me. i just want it a couple of inches past my shoulder. i refuse to believe that my hair can't grow longer because of the texture of my hair.

Before LHCF I wasn't obsessed. I joined LHCF having recently acquired an interest in growing my hair. My hair had grown a lot my first couple years of college due to not getting my regular trims and I liked the new length and decided to pay more attention to my hair. I started at LHCF by cutting off about 2-3 inches off my hair to get rid of damaged ends and started trying to grow to brastrap length.
It was learning about all these other hairstories and ogling albums and such that really turned my hair into a hobby. And then once I decided to go natural it turned into a mission  It's fun!

1. Because I believe that I as a black woman can have healthy, long, beautiful hair.
2. Because I've never had hair past shoulder length
3. Because for a while I've not been happy with my hair, and I want to be
4. Among other things I attribute beauty and femininity with long hair
5. Because sometimes you want to just throw your hair back in a ponytail and a long healthy ponytail still looks cute
6. I want to prove to the naysayers that I can do it
&. I think I look stunning with longer hair
