Wearing mine to bed has really helped! I have not had a cut or trim since March 2007 and my ends are very healthy.

I even have a satin bonnet for my daughter which she wears to bed. My husband is like "oh it starts THAT young"?

Thank you ladies for your replies.:yep:

Do you think that wearing your hair tie is essential for your hair's devlopment?

Anyone ever feel like "Aunt Jemimah"?

I am so shocked he said that because normally he doesn't have ANY comment on my hair....he is a smart man. But, today he seemed kinda bitter about it.

Man, having long hair and/or trying get it sometimes is NOT the business

Been wearing them ever since I was a little girl. In fact, I'm still using the same scarfs my mother gave me as a child.

Hubby's never really complained about it. He's into long hair, so he's supportive of what I'm trying to do. And he's seen the "hair board" so he's cool with all the other things I'm doing too (baggying, rollersets, etc...).

My SO has no problem with my hair being wrapped up at night...as long as I'm fly when I step out on the scene...

I wear my bonnet and scarf all day on saturday unless I go out. I never go to bed without it, I buy several just in case I snatched one off and forgot where I put it. When my husband was here He would say Hey you going to tie your hair up, if I am laying down watching TV so I guess he didn't care much. But I didn't have long hair so he saw it everyday and watched me roll my hair up and get ready. HE never played in my hair though and I always wanted him to. He did when we were dating and it was the best feeling in the world.

I have a scarf that I wear around the house, bf claims its too colourful, and a bonnet that I wear to bed, my other half teases me and says I look like a baker in it, but I'm not gonna give up wearing it because he teases me.

 @ a baker. I used to have a boyfriend who would tease me and ask me when i was putting on my Strawberry Shortcake hat.

I wear a scraf to bed & around the house.

As soon as my foot hits the door im in the bathroom wrapping my hair up. SO doesn't have a problem it. He has dreadlocks that are about BSL :look: (he'd be pissed if he knew I said that) so he wears a scarf/bandana to bed to help keep them out the way.

So basically we both go to bed lookn like Ma & Pa Kettle :perplexed

I wear mine to bed every night. My SO doesnt comment at all he knows what I am trying to accomplish. I can cover my hair all I want, as long as everything else is uncovered!!!:yep:

hell, I live in my bonnets and scarves:lachen:my DH knows not to trip...now...since he kind of understanding why I'm doing it. he's got to understand that it's for the greater good of my hair.

:lachen: My SO seems to feel the same way lol.

I only recently started covering my head at night bc I used to just sleep on a satin pillowcase...but I notice my hair is smoother/non poofy with the scarf or bonnet. I need to get multiples though bc after a few days I dont like the way the scarf/bonnet smells and throw it in the dirty laundry to be washed.

I wear my scarf pretty much all day when I dont have anything to do. But IF I know Im going out Ill take it off. But as soon as I get back home... it goes back on again.

My husband is used to it I think... hold on Ill ask him.....

His exact words were as follows: "Is this for the hair forum??? *sigh* (long pause) I respectfully decline to answer."

Smart Man

I do wear a scarf t bed and around the house if I'm lounging. My hubby doesn't mind. He evens gives me my scarf sometimes when we're getting ready for bed.

There are ways to meet him half way.
When my husband and I make :over18:I always take my hair down . He loves hair . He loves for it to rub against him, he loves to smell it, he loves touching it. Thats is why I will not put anything that smells bad in my hair. It's just not sexy.
  • Satin pillow cases are good too.
One of the reasons I want to grow my hair really long is b/c I know how much he loves it .
Even when married you still need to preserve your sexiness .

I agree.
While my BF doesn't mind anything at all... I'm lucky, because he still thinks a woman is a woman. I think if I were more hair crazy, he'd roll his eyes in amusement and keep it moving.

I don't think women should straight up compromise if something works for them and their man doesn't like it.

For example: MTG... My boyfriend will tell me I smell like strawberry bacon... if I'm perfumed up and I'm applying it. But he laughs. It's not overpowering.

I will feel like Aunt Jemima sometimes, but it's all good to preserve the sexy!

I'm bad at this.I wear my scarf most of the time in the house and to the op,you just described a daily convo in my household. He was once a teamplayer for my hair growth but now he has since been fired. He can't even take pics right.:lachen:So one day when he came home from work,I had just washed my hair and since I am 10wks post,I braid my hair in plaits to airdry.Well needless to say,he'd rather see my scarf!:nono:I was kinda looking like that rapper Hurricane Chris!:ohwell:
Oh and now all of a sudden he can't sleep with me doing a whole head baggy he keeps hearing the crunch at night so he asked me to do something about that.

I religiously cover my hair at night and I only take my scarf off to leave the house. DH understands & does not complain since it was his idea for me to stop weaving and to grow out my own hair.

When I was weaving I admittedly did not cover my hair most nights.

I wear a satin bonnet or silk scarf to bed (depending on how I'm wearing it), but I do try to wear my hair down until the very last minute. :lachen:

I do have a large silk scarf :lick: that my Mommy brought me from China that I drape over eveything, though (the sofa, the pillows, whatever I am laying on) My DH thinks it's funny...he calls me "Linus" you know from Charlie brown with the blanket everywhere. But I do think he appreciates the fact that he does get to benefit from me growing out my hair and seeing it down when he's home around me. I even drape the scarf over my pillow when we....you know... That way he can see the hair in it's full glory and play in it if he likes:blush::blush::blush::blush::blush:

But, I usually am up later than him anyway, so when he goes to bed, I do my doo and wrap up the scarf and hit the lights.

When I wake up, first thing I do is remove my scarf. I do this bc my hair is thick and needs to get some air, I even have to take wraps and pin curls down immediately to let it fully air out:yep:

Even though my husband doesn't mind, I don't like wearing a bonnet or scarf in bed, so I do that infrequently. I rarely wear a scarf at home when I am lounging too. Maybe that's why my hair won't grow past APL. I don't care. APL is long enough for me.

Oh and now all of a sudden he can't sleep with me doing a whole head baggy he keeps hearing the crunch at night so he asked me to do something about that.

Yeah, I tried to do that whole-head-baggy-thingy too. Crunch, crunch, crunch!!!! My husband couldn't sleep, and I couldn't sleep either. :lachen:

Before I wouldn't at all. Now I do when I remember, but sometimes I forget. Also I "forget" when the bf's around too. :giggle:

I never just wear one around the house though. I feel like my scalp can't breath when I wear a scarf during the day....it gets itchy and feels smothered.

Mine, too. I can't stand it. But I wear one to bed like 90% of the time. But it comes partially or completely off 1/2 the time anyway.

i wear one to bed.. and around the house. If i ever get married 2 my bf he would have 2 get used to me wearing it to bed....
he knows how obssesed i am with hair

I always have my scarf on everynight. However, underneath are neat pincurls under a hair net so whilst I am around the house I just leave on the net with the pin curls and add some lip gloss and earrings (If need be). If I lay on DH or on the bed, i put the scarf down first to protect my hair. Sometimes I feel like 'Geesh, this is a bit obessive' but he kinda thinks the scarf is sexy and understands and appreciates how kris my hair looks when we are out so is cool with the measures it takes to acheive this. He LOVES my hair, especially considering it was very short when we first met...

I think, i'm blessed, he's cool with a lot of things, like I'm not overly glam all the time and I can truely just be me and he still thinks I'm the best lady in the world...Thank God!

I wear satin scarf to bed everynight, when I stay with my SO or he spend night with me he don't say anything regarding the scarf. Although he is ok with me wearing my scarf I only wear it at bedtime b/c wearing the scarf around the house all day is a bit much.:ohwell:
