I saw someone suggest and 2eggs/n a lil oil, pre-poo, I'm going to CW then egg it, the poo, deep CON......wanna know how the eggs are working....

I use one beaten egg on my hair for an hour or so from time to time.

It leaves my hair very moisturized and sealed with something that last for days, leaving my hair quite silky, strong, and pliable.

I get best results with just the yolk. The egg white adds more strength but reduces that moisture retention for me. Occasionally, the whites make my hair feel stripped. So -- it depends on whether I want more protein effects or not.

You may want to poo lightly afterward if you use the whites to get the a few white strains out. They cling!

I actually LOVE egg as a natural protein and conditioner. Nothing can be it. I used to do it weekly but reduced that because I once felt it was stripping my hair. I was probably mistaken....I'm not sure. But now since you've mentioned it ... I might do a treatment today! :)

P.S. I don't mix anything in with it. I did once and found that I like just the plain egg.

I used eggs in my hair years ago, but I didn't like that I had little white pieces throughout my hair. I may have to try it with just the egg yolks. That's a good idea. Thanks Synthia.

I use egg to condion and/or add protein. Saw this article on About.com.

Raw Eggs and Hair Care
Homemade Conditioner and Shampoo Recipes
Did you know that raw eggs can be used as part of your beauty routine and not just on your face? You can also use them in your hair for conditioning and adding shine. Here are some recipes that you can use before you shampoo or after. The choice is yours.
These conditioners you use before shampooing:

First of all an egg yolk makes a great conditioner for your hair. Simply mix it with 2 tsp of a castor oil and massage into your hair. Rinse thoroughly. *You might want to spend some time researching castor oil. Did you know that this plant can grow to the size of a small tree in Africa.

One raw egg...
Whisk one or two raw eggs together and then work into your hair. Allow to dry and then shampoo out, followed by a vinegar and water rinse. This treatment will soften your hair nicely. Repeat about once a month.

You can also mix an egg yolk with 1/4 cup of yogurt, and a little lemon rind. Again work it gently into your hair and then rinse thoroughly. *Plain yogurt is another beauty staple that you will want to stock up on. It has lots of uses.

A small avocado mashed and combined with an egg yolk is another moisturizing mask for your hair. Apply to hair and then go and read a magazine for 15 minutes while the ingredients go to work. Rinse out and then shampoo and condition thoroughly.

These conditioners you use after shampooing:

Beat a couple of egg yolks with a tablespoon or two of water depending on the length of your hair and then rinse after 15 minutes.

If you use a whole egg, whisk with a little lemon juice and condition your hair with this concoction. It will add incredible shine as it has removed previous product buildup.

You can even add an egg to your shampoo for added benefits.

Egg Shampoo
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup your favorite shampoo
1 tsp vegetable oil
Whisk the egg until frothy and then add the remaining ingredients. Pour into an old (clean) shampoo bottle and then store in the refrigerator for obvious reason. Share with the family as "shelf life" is only about two weeks.

Cider Vinegar and Egg Shampoo

1 large egg
2 oz mineral water
1 T cider vinegar
Using a wire wisk, whip up all three ingredients until well combined and then massage into the scalp. Rinse with warm water. Because of the egg content, the use of warm water is essential.

I tried it in a shampoo mix and I had white pieces of egg in my hair. I saw something on Tyra the other day that suggested putting edible mayo and eggs would not help it. But this was of course after my first disasterous experience. Oh, well.

Same thing happened to me, I will definitely give it another go with just the yolk.

I've never used a whole egg on my hair, but I have used mayo as a pre-poo. I just took regular mayo out the fridge, added a little conditioner and oil (jojoba/evoo) for slip, put it on my hair, put a plastic cap over it and a hot steaming towel over that. I let it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing and then proceeding with a regular wash. Itreplaced my protein treatments for awhile.

I tried it a couple of times back in the day when I was bald headed but my hair was too damage to notice any sort of change. I want to try it again, those recipes BackToMyRoots posted are so interesting, especially the avocado one...but I am against having eggs in my house. So maybe I will try the avocado w/ mayo or something...?

I love mixing organic egg white power in conditioners. It makes application really easy! :) I've definitely seen and felt benefts to my hair.

I've used an egg and EVOO mixture successfully and had great results. I always rinse it out with cold water so the egg doesn't literally cook in my hair. Once a week does the trick

i used to a lot a while back and it made my hair real strong.

i would mix egg yolk with 100% mayo. and leave it on for while and then rinse

I use one whole egg and some olive oil and apply it to my new growth in the back and leave it for an hour or so. In that area its really thick and hard to manage. The egg and olive oil mixture softens it for me.

I have used an egg in my hair when I was younger, I did it to hold my hair in place and I actually left it in for a few days

Probably not the best idea, I am not sure if it was shiny/strong afterward or not.

I think I will try the egg conditioner one day tho leaving it in for a few days is not a good idea, my hair was hard and sticky, also it started being all flaky as well, I donno what I was thinking back then. :ohwell:

Okay. I tried an egg in my conditioner last night and I like it! My hair rinsed out nice and silky looking but it felt stronger and heavier. bonjour

I have never used egg in my hair, but I think I might try some of the recipes this weekend. Thanks for the info ladies!!:D

i tried this for the first time last weekend. i mixed 2 whole eggs with evoo and molasses. aside from it being a completely runny mess, my hair actually did feel stronger. i might try it once a month or so.

I have done it from time to time, but not in a consistent manner like once a month or even once every two months. However, I did mix an egg with some Africa's Best Organics Mayonnaise and a little oil for a co-wash Tuesday night. I rinsed well and did my usual of semi--saturating my hair with my butter mixture, putting it in a ponytail, braiding it, putting on my satin scarf and going to bed. In the morning before I put my hair in the bun, I had this nice light, fluffy ponytail that was full of body and bounce. It was so pretty, I almost did not put my hair in my bun. Normally, when I take my hair out of its braid in teh morning, it is wavy, but limp. The only thing I did differently was add the egg; everything else was the same.

Well...once a week I use 1egg mixed with around 2 TBS of mayo and a couple of other things. I haven't had a problem with eggs being left in my hair. Right now I am deployed in Iraq and am not able to do these treatments. I was thinking about getting some Mayo from the dining facility in a cup and using that instead. Oh well....I love it!!

What she said...I do this once a week, mixed with a little Humectress, and my hair is incredibly soft. I didn't believe it until I tried it.

I previously thought that all the protein of the egg was in the white, but I see in this table that there is protein in the yolk as well. I have used the white exclusively; I think I will start using the whole egg mixed with some plain yogurt or mayo next time!:D

I use eggs mixed with EVOO and conditioner as a prepoo. Usually leave on for about 1 hour. Leaves hair feeling healthy and moisturized.

I mix 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. Queen Helene Cholesterol, and 2 tbsp. EVOO. It makes my hair strong and shiny. It also stopped my shedding dead in its tracks.

I add egg to my Organic Root Stimulator Conditioner per the instructions for a deep conditioning treatment. I mix it really well. I don't have problems with the egg white. For those of you that do, try lukewarm water to rinse.

I used one egg every 2-3 months but I stopped because my hair always seemed so hard and coarse, even after i conditioned it. I think it was too much protein for my hair.

I use it in my prepoo once a month. I mix up one yolk, 1/2 cup of mayo, one can of coconut milk, juice from one lime, honey, various oils, and conditioner.

It makes my hair soft, shiny and strong.
