i used mild for years... but now im sticking with regular because it gets my hair straighter faster (10-15 mins as opposed to the 20 mi processing time with mild).

I normally use regular, but my hair has gotten thicker over the past four months and I may need to use super next time.

I think I may have to do this too. I previously voted mild, but since taking vitamins regularly (biotin 5mg!) my mild just is taking forever now, and still not getting straight enough (85%). Regular, here I come...

I used to use regular and last time I used mild (Elasta QP). I have an itchy scalp so eventually it always burns. I think I've been texlaing all these years b/c my hair is very curly when wet so its like I release some of the curl but not completely. I would never try the super strength though, to scared of loosing all my hair, lol

You use Mizani mild, is that right? How long is it taking now versus previously? I just got the Mizani Mild because I'm afraid to use the regular strength Mizani since I've read that it is really strong. But I hope the Mild works for me seeing as my hair is not fine (my strands are medium) nor color treated.

To address the thread, previously I used regular strength (ORS) but I may switch to using mild. I self relax and I think it may be better for my hair. I'll see after my next relaxer touch up.

The best stylist I ever had used to say, "It's not the strength of the relaxer, it's how you work it."

That's always been true for me. I use mild or regular and I have coarse hair.

Yeah I switched to Mizani mild a/b 2 touch-ups ago from Motions oil mild. Both times I relaxed w/mizani, I left it on 15-18 min, and ended up having to do a corrective for 10-15 min more!! This last time, I did a corrective w/some leftover Motions and spiked it with meadowfoam oil, and it turned out soooo silky and just what I wanted. I asked Sistaslick and she said I should go for Mizani regular. I'm really wondering a/b the tub of relaxer I bought, as I too heard that Mizani was pretty strong...But I know my hair has gotten way stronger in the past few months (as in...I do the strand test to see if it'll break, and I can't break it) Fine hair, but not fragile

Thanks girl:)! I hope the mild works for me.

Super Uper Duper

Super. . . my hair eats mild & regular relaxers for breakfast. I'm in the middle of the longest stretch I've ever done (up to about 16 wks now) & I am afraid of underprocessing my new growth, since my last brand (Barry Fletcher) stopped working 4 me.

I use either a mild or kiddie perm....

Although recently Ive been using optimums "anti-breakage" relaxer in regular.... but I I don't know if Ill continue that... or just go back to kiddie perms.

although i hvae very coarse, wirey 4b hair i use mizani regular. it gets me straight but not bone straight. im scared to use super even though some would say i need it

I used to always be regular but have been using mild for almost a year and it gets the job done so I'm sticking with it.

When I first started relaxing, I had to use super....my hair was really thick. But, when I got older, I had to start using regular...super got to strong. Im natural now.

I used to use regular but I use mild now and do my own. My hair was coming out at the root. Now I use a no-lye mild and it gets my hair just as straight without the breakage.

I use Mizani Lye Normal (Regular) and I am a 4a thick coarse. For those having problem with not having enough time to process, maybe you should try this (thanks for the tips Lauren):
  • Divide the hair into to horizontal halves
  • Take a plastic cap and cover the back half of your hair
  • Relax first section and smooth
  • Wash it out twice with neutralizer and the last wash leave the neutralizer in the hair to protect the hair for the relaxing of the second half of the hair
  • Cover the first half with the plastic cap
  • Relax the second section and smooth
  • Wash and condition the entire head as usually
This method requires more time but really helps me with no burning and allowing my whole head ample processing time. I still do not get bone straight this way (I would need a super for that) but it turns my coils into silky sexy waves. I am transitioning to texlax this way. I used to use Nairobi Lye Super for bone straight hair.

I have been using the phytorelaxer index 2 on my hair for four years now!!! it keeps my hair slightly straight and healthy looking... smile......

I use Mizani Lye regular strength. I have fine hair but I add a little evoo or grapeseed oil to it for a nice texlax effect. I base my scalp very well with Vaseline petroium jelly and I don't get burns anymore. This relaxer works well for me.

I'm not relaxed anymore, but when I was I always used mild lye relaxers. They worked well for me, and my hair was still bone straight.
