Do you think O.J did it?

I feel much safer with a mild relaxer. I prefer to leave a mild relaxer on my hair for a longer time than using regular or super relaxers. I find that regular and super relaxers tend to be damaging to my hair.

Is it just my vision, or does the heading of this poll say "Do you think OJ did it?" LOL!!!

I use a mild relaxer. I've always used the lowest strength that will get the job done.

Yes, it does. Polls made before the forum 'renovation' tend to get mixed up with other polls.

I used mild in the past but vitamins have made my strands more resistant so I switched to regular.
It's interesting that you say that DSD b/c I was inspecting fallen hair in my comb and noticed a texture change midway thru the strand. I wasn't sure if it was the texturizing but that chemical should run down the whole shaft. The last 4-5 inches were definitely finer and the rest of the strand was thicker in diameter and more ridgid. :scratchch I guess vits do work even though they haven't gotten my hair to tailbone overnight  .

Back ON topic: Milds my favorite, I will never use a Super again :nono:.

My stylist uses the mild Lye formula. I used to use regular for YEARS! But I noticed over the years that my hair became really thin and whispy looking due to the combination of regular strength relaxers and not taking care of my hair.

Since my hair is naturally fine to begin with, my stylist recommended against regular relaxers on my type 4a/b hair, and switched me over to mild. I've noticed a big change in the health of my hair due to this. Not only that, but my hair is easier to stretch in between relaxers since my hair isn't bone straight anymore. Trust me, the mild relaxer still gets my hair straight (any relaxing chemical will really) but my hair isn't as thin, and I still have a little wave at the roots. Plus, it didn't burn at all when she did my relaxer. My hair feels stronger, and thicker at the roots due to it. The bad part is that the ends of my hair (probably 80% of the rest of my hair) still have the regular relaxer strength in it, so it's thinner than the hair at my roots. :-(

I guess you just have to know what works for you and YOUR type of hair. For some people mild just won't cut it. For some regular strength is an insult to thier hair. And for others like me, anything stronger than mild (or even regular) will damage their hair.

I totally agree with you on this one. My hair is thin too after years of using no lye regualr and super relaxers. I am now sticking to milder relaxers because it does less damage to my hair and my hair is getting back to its thick texture. Yuppy!!!!

I just posted a thread about my preference. I just switched to Affirm mild and will never go back to regular!

I use regular. I did use mild, but I had to comb it through to loosen the curl. Now I use regular and don't comb through.

I use Elucence Superonly because this particular relaxer is SOOO MILD!!! Actually, the super is pretty "mild" too, but it does the job.

Super (Optimum Care no-lye relaxer) at 10-15 minutes max. I love how it calms my curls and turns them into waves

I preferred Mild

Regular gets my hair straighter faster but has the potential to burn my scalp

I would be afraid to try Super

I wonder too!

I noticed the headings of most of these old polls (before the new changes) are all messed up. :)

Funny, when a former stylist of mine used to apply mild lye, she would burn my scalp all the time - to the point that the salon wound up having to refund me for the service. The current person I go to uses regular lye, and I have not burned so far (I've gone to her twice). OT ~ now if only she wasn't so scissor-happy...I guess she'll just have to put up with her finger-twitching minus the scissors b/c I'm not letting her "trim" my hair again (my hair is now shorter than it was in Summer). Thanks for letting me rant, lol.

I just used Motions Mild for the first time, and I'm in love with it. I think I usually use regular, and that is entirely too strong for me. Mild from now on!

My hair can't take anything stronger than mild. Every since I switched my hair has been so much thicker with awesome bounce...I'll never go back to using anything stronger.

Since my hair is fine in texture, I switched from a regular no-lye to a mild lye. It did straighten my hair real well, and there was not a single burning sensation while applying and smoothing.

Mild!!!!!!!!!!! Mild Is The Way To Go For Me! It Doesn't Get My Hair Bone Straight Therefore My Strands Retains Some Of It's Natural Strength!

I didn't realize there were different strengths of relaxer until I started going to my current stylist. The stylist I had before her would use a different relaxer everytime I got a touchup, which my current stylist told me wasn't a good idea. She uses Affirm which is mild and gets my hair poker straight.

I use Optimum Super (7-12 min) for a texturizer! I'd like to move down to a regular, but I am afraid that it would not work.
