The thread titled "Who is not transitioning"
Why was it removed.I was online about 4 hours ago and it was here.I just came back from an exam and it is gone.Did it turn nasty or something

Were too many people offended?

I really didn't mean to offened anyone.

Hmm...last I checked the thread was starting to take a nasty turn. Not your fault, but it seems that the discussion was getting pretty heated, the last time I checked it.

It's so sad that we can't discuss the natural/relaxed thing without it gettin' ugly.

I know you started the thread in a light-hearted mannered, at least that's how I took it.

Yeah.It was lighthearted.I guess the whole natural/relaxed thing is just a touchy subject that is best left alone

Just Hair.

In answer to your question I do not plan on transitioning anytime soon. My mother is natural and my daughter. If my hair is like theirs (it stands to reason) I will consider it in the future. I do feel that all the knowledge received here would help ease the transtition. For now though I like it as it is.

I hate to hear the thread was removed...when I last saw the thread (around 11:30 am est) there seemed to be a healthy debate...but nothing derrogatory...I hope it did not turn that way...It is possible to hear both sides and learn from each...I have.

Maybe the solution is to have a seperate section for Transitioning/Naturals and one specifically set aside for Relaxers....

Katie I'm a natural and I didn't find your post offensive. Personally I respect people's choice and I don't push my views on people.

i don't think we should have separate sections. i think that people should grow up and respect everyone else's choices and stop trying to convince one way or the other. if they can't do that, then they need to bounce!! why let a handful of people ruin something that alot of people have worked hard to develop???

Yes, I was reading the thread and then the second I finished it, it was gone! I thought I did something to it. Now I see that it was just dismantled. It didn't seem to be really heated. I've seen much more heated ones on here than that one. Maybe someone really started getting ugly. I don't know. But I just love hair and lots of it! Natural, relaxed, texturized, you name it!

i posted a reply before leaving for class also, but didnt know that it had later been removed. yeah, nothing happens from people being quiet

i think it was a good thread for everyone. like someone had mentioned, there are MANY reasons people decide to transition and it was interesting for me to read why ppl went from relaxer to natural and others from natural to relaxer. i thought the thread was turning informative more than anything--just my opinion

I agree...with a forum that allows BOTH points of view...we should be able to hear each other out without getting offended when someone says, "I'm transitioning" or "I'm going natural"...if this were a Relaxed-Only forum...then I could see why there would be no place for both views...but from what I've seen that this forum stands for is women of color with the goal of long hair...no matter how you get it...unfortunately if someone says...theres another way...things turn nasty...

This debate will happen again...we've seen the beginning of the issue in other threads...so we know how it will end.

I think it is the people need to grow up thing.
I appreciate both care methods. My daughter is natural and has enough hair for 2 other people. All info helps.

Actually one of the things I always loved (and still do) about this forum is that the vast majority of folks on here support everyone else! I see many many relaxed heads supporting and rooting for Naturals and vice versa!!! I think that's great! The world was different back in '98 when I went Natural. I had NO SUPPORT and everyone basically thought I was being "eccentric", even to the point of betting me that I wouldn't/couldn't keep my hair like that for a year! I even had one knucklehead girl at a party ask me, "But what are you going to DO with it", like it was some science experiment on my head! But nowadays, everyone is soooooo much more supportive of eachother! I was very alone in my journey and knew NO ONE ELSE personally who was also natural! Plus, because my hair was shoulder length when I cut it everyone really thought I was crazy (shoulder length is apparently long to some folks). This is a very supportive board. Many Naturals are also supportive of relaxed heads wanting to grow it out and have more manageability than they feel they would have as a Natural. There are few here who may get offended or ugly, but overall this is a really great board and wonderful place to be for good tips whether Natural or Relaxed!!

I removed the thread from the forum because it seemed that a few people were getting offended and I didn't want the thread to turn ugly, but I'll bring it back. It's a subject that will keep coming up and we're going to have to find a way not to take every comment people make to heart.

I so agree.

It's just hair styles.
