When you tell someone about LCHF why don't they join

I don't think anyone is saying that any and everyone needs to be on here 24/7, but don't ***** and moan about your hair and then ignore the advice...basically.

Ohh I tried to tell two people about this site. Both had damaged hair and they both asked me how I kept my hair so healthy and nice etc. I told them about this site. As I was explaining, I could see their eyes just glaze over and what I was saying was going in one ear and out the other. One even just said "Oh whatever the only reason why you have nice hair is because your mixed." I was like WTF!!!! :whip: I HATE THAT! I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT TO ME!! So after that I just let her be with her balding self.

:lol: Girl you had me dying over here with that one! But I agree with everyone, they want you to do all the work and tell them the quick fast way to grow their hair. I just told my best friend and that's about it. She asks me for info sometimes, but admits that she's too lazy to come to the site. I don't mind because she truly is not a computer person unless she's at work.

Exactly. If you happy looking like Michael Jordan with a perm then I am too. But don't yap about it all day and when someone presents you with a solution ignore them.

ITA. I love it how people make excuses for your success when you do it yourself. For example, if you do your own relaxers, daily maintance and whatnot, you just got lucky or you have "Indian in your blood"

I was thinking the same thing. I need her password to check out here fotki.

you know what? i found that what people really want is a quick fix...to EVERYTHING. alot of people just want to buy a bottle whatever it is that they want and call it a day. they want it now and forget if it means having patience, being resourceful and/or being motivated. you can lead them to water but you cant make them drink it. even with the hair, thats all i hear....i dont have time for that! i tell them to do x,y,z and all i hear is, that sound like a lot, i dont have time for that. and the thing is, i give the basics like dc-ing and moisturizing. with health, you tell them you can eat this but not with that or watch this count and that count and they just flag you or give a blank stare. so oh well....i said my peace and tried to help but now i'm moving on. you can just watch my hair sweep the floor!!!!

I think some of them don't join because they want you to tell them that you go to a stylist with growing hands!

i know, i have a gf like that. she has a stylist that she believes has growing hands but how can that be if all she does is literally curl and trimm your hair when needed:confused: the stylist only touches you after you've been shampooed, conditioned and blow dried:lol:
actually since joining my hair has been growing and people want to give all the credit to my stylist too. (we have the same one) but i dont go to her often. i enjoy doing my own hair:grin:

I told a woman in Sally's once. Her eyes glazed over so I wrote down the URL; I found the paper I wrote it on at the register when I checked out. WTH! She didn't even take it with her. It could have been an accident tho.

Un-Uh girl, that wasn't no accident! Folks just don't wanna know! They want to hear about some miracle product or magic potion.

It's the same with weight loss. "OMG! How did you lose so much weight? Tell me what you did!"

Um, I exercised.:perplexed

People sometimes think their way is the best way. It seems they don't want to try other methods. There are a lot of know it alls out there too.

Exactly. If there wash such a product, we would have been on it.:lachen:

I haven't told many ppl about this site, I want to see results on my own hair first I guess, it'll be easier to promote this site then.

well I told my best friend and she thought that a website about hair was stupid and all you need to grow your hair are trims every 8 weeks. plus she wears a lot of weaves and she has made it seem as if most black women have to wear weaves, it's part of our reality or something like that she said. after that i just left it alone.

then i was telling my mom but she only believes black women can have long hair if their mixed.

for people like that you just have to wait and hear their response when you get to your goal length and then they'll be asking you tons of questions.

i have no problem telling people because I feel a lot of us are miseducated about our hair but I will only tell people when they ask me for advice.

Very very true.

i don't want to offend anyone so i only give out advice when asked. so far i've referred one person to this site and i'm not sure if she's checked it out yet or not. i do agree with honey. people want results now not later :look: .

Maybe one of them is a lurker, they might be trying a regimen and waiting for results, then maybe they will confess. In the beginning of this hair journey you don't want to tell anyone because it is kind of personal especially if your hair is in terrible shape.

I agree. You have to want it. Be it growing hair or weight loss or any other endeavor. I've told a good friend of mine about LHCF, yet while she comments on my hair, she still does not log on.

1. some people lurk, get the information they need and bounce

2. others just want a quick fix, they want a special product that makes you hair grow

3. this place is not for everyone, some people don't have the patience to sift through the mass of information here, some of the complicated regimens, get hair quick potions, etc... can be a turn off to some people

4. there are people that think the beautician knows best

5. it can be hard to get people to accept new ideas

6. the proof is in the pudding, take in account how your hair looks when you are giving advice and the link to this site, if your hair is in a raggedy braidout/twistout/wash-n-go(they look a mess whn they don't turn out right), bun, braids, half wig or protective style 99% of the time and the person has never seen your hair look desirable in their opinion, they will most likely blow you off

Goodness these are so true. There are times (like now) where I have 1-2 inches of newgrowth and a bun and I wouldn't DARE give any advice. People just would not respect it.

And for number 3, I agree too. Some stuff on this site may come off very weird to some people. My sister who I mentioned thinks some of the stuff is weird and quite frankly sometimes so do I.:lachen:
