My problem area is the nape on the left side. It's sometimes dry but even when it's not, it always itches and falls out there.

The back/middle of my head - I have short layers there from it breaking off terribly years ago. I have to be really careful since I'm SLOWLY but surely trying to grow out my layers now.

Also my right side is altogether shorter than my left side... I think b/c nearer the beginning of my transition my left side just retained length better (I was able to maintain my relaxed ends better for whatever reason).

i dont think i have any problem areas anymore.

but when i was relaxed my problem areas were my nape, and right above my ears. id always try to stick the pieces behind my ears, and there'd always pop out because they were so short.

my nape never grew to more than 1 inch, if that.

i started co -washing while still relaxed. stop blowdrying, stopped flatironning. stoppes with the pink oil (yes its been a while -2003- since ive had a full head of relaxed hair for a long time) and started washing my hair more often while airdrying.

Mine have been my nape area for over a year now. I am so frustrated with it. I am going to buy some castor oil since I've read how it helps thinning areas!!:wallbash:

I voted edges and nape. My problem areas were so damaged that it took 5 or more years for me to finally realize what I needed to do in order to get those areas growing. The best thing I believe I've done for my hair is to start relaxing my own hair, by doing this, I was able to put an end to the damage to those sections. What I've started doing a couple of relaxers ago is to apply Profectiv Healthy Ends on my scalp at the edges and nape before applying the relaxer, by doing this I've seen tremendous progress in growth in those areas..

This hair journey has been not been easy. I've seen women on LHCF go from neck length to bra strap in a year or more only to look at my own hair in dismay because I've done almost everything suggested and my hair is not properly resting on my collarbone. While I have not abandon my quest for long healthy hair, I'm objectively inspecting my hair for what I want it to look like to what it really is. I'm at a point right now that I believe that my hair will be healthy/at least be have the density/thickness I would love it to have in the next 3/4 years.

I would have to say my nape and ends. There's a spot in my nape (in the middle but more to the left) that has been breaking for years!!! I remember having problems with area in high school and in the last several years I have had to have my hair drastically cut twice due to this area.
I no longer use no-lye relaxers. I am seriously considering transitioning but if I don't succeed, I will be thankful for the long stretch and learning how to appreciate my new growth. I wash and DC weekly and straighten my roots and rollerset my hair. I make sure I incorporate protein into my regimen and try to listen to my hair for what it needs. My new-growth (I am currently about 10 weeks) can be a monster but my hair is thicker and I am glad.

AWESOME THREAD, you hear me!!! And here I thought I was the ONLY ONE stilling having hair issues (especially with my nape) after all of this time. And to learn now that I'm in the company of others with some of the same issues yet who demostrates that it is still possible to have a gorgeous head of hair is oh so encouraging. YOU SISTERS ROCK:cup:

My crown area is and has always been my problem area. The problem is that the crown is a different texture, it is wiry, lacking in curl definition and tangles no matter what. This is why it is always breaking.
I have been struggling with this for years and on my almost 2 year hair journey I would be almost full blunt MBL if not for this breakage issue
I am hoping that the coconut oil will finally be my salvation.

My problem is my freakin edges! They are thin, I've tried keeping them moisturized I just don't know what to do with them:sad:

OP, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY YOU ASKED.... GIRL, I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SEEK THE EXPERTISE OF THE LHCF!

MY AREA IS THIS BRILLO PAD, SOS PAD CROWN (NOW THAT I'VE GOT THAT KITCHEN CLEANED :drunk:). THERE IS A SECTION IN THE TOP OF MY HEAD THAT IS SOOOOO DRY I WANT TO KILL IT! THIS IS THE AREA THAT WHEN I USED TO WEAR MY PHONY PONY MANY MOONS AGO, THIS IS WHERE THE BOBBY PINS WERE. THAT AREA USED TO BE SORE ALL THE TIME AND THE HAIR BROKE.

SINCE THEN IT IS A LITTLE SLOWER TO GROW EVEN THOUGH IT DOES JUST FINE, BUT SLOWER THAN THE REST. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING. ANYONE ABLE TO REMEDY A SITUATION SUCH AS THIS? AWW LAWD!

My NAPE. I just realize that the texture is different. I hate that!!!! I have decided not to relaxe my nape ever again..... And that where i used to always start my relaxers.

My problem areas are my ends and my edges. My edges because I have an addiction to wigs!!! lol I have been wearing wigs a long time and the combs in the front thin my hair out in the front. So, now Ive cut back on my wig wearing and my edges I just started to moisturize them more in depth during DC.

I believe it is cnsidered my crown though it falls past the front of my hair left side and runs from my left ear to the middle of my head. This rough patch its the bain of my healthy hair existance. It angers me so....

you should take the combs out of your wigs. Thats what I do. I wear half wigs and my edges are fine. I always take the combs out and use bobby pins.

My area used to be my nape. Since finding the boards and giving my nape some well needed TLC, its growing so nice and healthy like the rest of my hair. Mind you it was bald 6 months ago. I have about 3 inches back there now and I havent had hair there in about 6 years..

The last few inches of my hair are my problem area. The ends are ridiculously dry, rough and brittle. :(
I've been deep conditioning them more than normal, and keeping my hair in a bun to protect them, but it doesn't seem to be working, so I cut off a half-inch or so every few weeks. I think I'll keep doing that until the rough ends are all gone.

Ends---or should i say the lack thereof! i just dont understand why my hair is so blunt/straight cut, at the end and it tangles very easily.

Edges---am trying to fill my temple area...hopefully i'll get there soon. Am doing the Protective Style challenge so fingers crossed

Another vote for the crown. It is soooo super thirsty and tangles so much easier than any other part of my hair. I used to wash my hair in four sections, but I had to add a new section just for the crown:rolleyes:

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

I just started doing this last week. At first I would do 4 equal section. Now I make the crown of my head one section and have four other sections. The crown section always takes longer to detangle and sheds more hair than the other sections, even though it is the smallest section.

My crown and edges are a challenge.

The crown just grows slower than the rest of my hair...but it's not dry. I pay a little more attention to it since it doesn't grow as quickly...

And my edges (really, only my right temple area) do better when I don't bother them. I always have my fingers at my temple area and it's thinner than it should be...but I am seeing progress the more I leave it alone.

I have two problem areas, my edges and the areas in the middle of my head. I seem to have breakage in the shape of a U in the back, this has been going on for about 1 year. You can see the problem in my profile picture :wallbash::wallbash:

Well i have like a C shaped area of hair that runs from temple to temple right behind my front that is just terrible..

I think i have some serious alopecia to deal with in that area because it is clean down to the root besides some fuzz in that area... IDK what to do to get it to fill back in..
