I took off the restraints of time and decided to let it grow. I think I wanted BSL stretched by December and I'm there. I think that helped because I was a wee past shoulder length when I put that time on it. But anyway, I hope everyone reaches their goal!

exactly. I am doing this too. except I just want it to be healthy, no more broken patches, and dry thin ends. So my goal is just healthy hair, I hope to achieve that by next November. but I'm not really concentrating on the time. I'm just gonna do what I can and keep it moving.

when I kept thinking that my hair had to be ___ by ___ time, I drove myself crazy. It was like watching a pot that doesnt boil.
 
When I first joined, I set a goal to be BSL by my first anniversary, let's just say it didn't happen :ohwell: I was super disappointed, but all I could do was keep going. Quitting isn't an option. You're stuck with your hair for life, so you don't have a choice but to accept what it dishes out and move on :yep:
 
Oh this has happened to me numerous times so I'm quite used to it. :lol: I just continue on until I eventually get there.

I was hoping to be BSL by Dec 31st but it don't look like it will happen b/c of the see-thru ends and me trimming.......:wallbash::wallbash:
 
I set limits but I don't really think about them. I give myself til Dec to be MB. I try to be realistic with myself. I should be full MB by Dec but if not, it's not....oh yes it is...but what can I do? set another time limit but I don't stress too much anymore--->>>:grin:

I choose, "Appreciate my progress and keep going."

Of course, I'd feel some disappointment. But since my hair would have been longer than when I'd first set the goal, I'd do my best to focus on that achievement.

ETA: I set time limits. I like having a particular date, it motivates me.
 
i voted i must reach my goal on time, but if i don't i'll probably shed a tear and keep pushing ahead
 
I chose appreciate my progress. I think it's good to set goals and even time limits. It gives me incentive to take good care of my hair. So even if it doesn't reach the goal, I know there will be progress. I've not been disappointed thus far because I've never felt an urgency to be at a certain length or state with my hair, it's just something I want.

If my hair is not APL by December of next year, I'm going to cut it into a blunt cut at whatever length it is and continue to grow from there.

If it IS APL by December 09, then I'll wait another year (until BSL) for the blunt cut.
 
I realized that I probably won't be my definition of FULL SL (in my avatar) by December, but I've made great progress from Chin Length to my siggy pic, so I'll still be happy in Dec. even if my hair doesn't grow another inch by then.
 
I'd re-evaluate my timeline and adjust it accordingly. I'm generous when it comes to setting goals so I usually hit them in the time I anticipate.

I always set goals, even to the point of writing them down. This keeps me focused on what I'm trying to accomplish...my hair goals are no different.

This hair thing is kinda unpredictable, though, so to avoid disapointment with my progress, I try to set goals that are realistic...and then add a few months:look:...to ensure I reach them as scheduled, or even earlier.

My current goal is to reach WL by 12/31/08, and if I have just 2 strands making it over, then I'm claiming WL.:lachen:
 
I was aiming for APL this Xmas but have almost 3 inches to get there (fully) I'm happy with my progress but disappointed not to meet my goal, I MAY stop setting hair goals (yeah right!)anyway hope to make it by March:yep:
 
Appreciate my progress. I mean my hair is growing because I am living, I'm retaining length so sooner or later I'll hit the goal. I'm looking forward to next retouch. Hoping to be MBL too!
 
I messed up and read the responses and answered too quickly.

I will just keep at my goal the time frame is there to keep me disciplined.

Stretching, looking at how many inches per month. These things help me to stay on task. DC'ing 2 times a week, Did I co-wash, clarify and moisturize as I should to get the results?

For me this is a great challenge and a learning experience but I have so many other things in life that are much more serious.

BTW.. I absolutely LOVE the LHCF!!!!
 
I set a time line only b/c it makes me work harder when I am trying to achieve a goal, but if I don't make it I will fine with it as long as the condition of my hair continues to improve. On the flip side, if I have a major setback I will probably be really upset/disappointed.
 
I'll probably be a little annoyed but not devastated. I want to be WL for my college graduation next year and I'm pretty sure I'll be more interested in the day than my hair
 
I'm just happy that my hair is growing and I take what I can get since my hair has never been long. I've always had short hair and kept it cut into short styles. I never really tried to grow it out because I believed the stereotypes that black women don't have long hair unles they have "good hair". I have very negro hair it ain't good and it grows thick. My ng is like steal. But guess what, my hair is growing so I'm blessed. I don't set goal that are impossible for me to attain. I keep my goals simple and I am consistent with my reggie.

I am happy with where I came from but I was this length before I decided to start off right(chop). So I know it only gets better from here. I set goals but I dont over do it, I make goals that I can achieve.
