What length were you this time last year?

This time last year my hair was barely ear length after my rush BC in late January. Last I checked this past March I was neck length following a trim. I hope to be SL by the end of May.

This time last year I was bald ! Now I'm currently in the puff stage. I don't have a twa! ;)

This time last year I was APL/transitioning and now I'm MBL/still transitioning. I've cut my relaxer ends 2 or 3 times in-between.

Last year this time I was hovering a little above bra strap length and now I am 4 inches from waist length!!! Woop woop!!

I was MBL, and ended up cutting back to BSL in June. Now I have a TWA with maybe an inch of hair :lachen:

I was NL this time last year and I'm currently a layered NL. I've cut 6 inches in the last year. I BC'd in Sept to 3-4 inches of hair (cut about 2-3 inches), trimmed an inch in October and trimmed 2 inches in Feb. Hopefully that's the end of these large cuts.

I was excited to read your post about 3 years post relaxer WOW!! Can I pick your Brain real quick? I'm 6 months post and really don't want to go through the hassle of relaxing yet don't want to loose my length am almost MBL so maybe your routine could help me so much

So do you protective style with extensions or weave?

I saw in your soggier that you co wash 3 times a week, does one of those washes include a d/c?

Since you manipulate your 2 textures frequently during the week how do you detangle? Or your detangling suggestions after a co wash? And do you have some breakage at the demarcation line?

Sorry for the late reply. I'm just seeing this post.

To answer your questions:

So do you protective style with extensions or weave?
When I was transitioning, I bunned 90% of the time, wore braids with added hair once for about 3 weeks, and towards the very tail end of my transition, wore a wig for about 5 months (not consistently, though; maybe about 30% of the time). I would press my hair every 6 to 12 months at a salon. I big chopped in November 2013, and since then I have not found a solid styling reggie even though I do have a pretty solid wash/co-wash/DC schedule in place at the moment.

I saw in your soggier that you co wash 3 times a week, does one of those washes include a d/c?
Nope. But I only did the co-washing 2-3x a week during the summer/warm weather and in the first half of my transition. During the last half of my transition, the co-washes slowed down to about 1x a week in the summer. Winter time, I would co-wash about once a week. Sometimes, none at all between washes.

Since you manipulate your 2 textures frequently during the week how do you detangle? Or your detangling suggestions after a co wash?
If I knew then what I know now, I would have ditched the comb much earlier. During my transition, I detangled whenever my hair got wet and with a wide-tooth comb, but I did serious/careful detangles during my DC sessions. I started going comb-free at the last month before I BC'ed and I loved it. As a natural, I've only picked up a comb twice.

And do you have some breakage at the demarcation line?
Not really. I know this because when I BC'ed, I noticed that I had relaxed ends pretty much everywhere. I did have some breakage at the demarcation line around the perimeter of my hair, where my hair there is not as strong as the rest of my hair. Most of my breakage occurred within the relaxed hair area.

Hope that helped. :)

thanks soo much for taking the time! it was good to read your honest replies but, honestly I panicked thinking about any set backs:nono:
Since then I have just continued to do what I knew worked for me. So simple an idea that I've read *plenty times* but I finally got it...

I will continue to follow my reggie listed on my profile and then modified to fit the scenario.

Hope all of the mothers and daughter's arounD here enjoy the weather and have a GREAT MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND! :hottub:

Last year at this time I was APL. My longest layer reached BSL in Dec 2013, but due to some setbacks I'm in need of a trim back to APL. I'm almost full BSL but about 2" are real bad and need to go. I've been snapping my ends off instead if using scissors, have not DC like I used to, and slacking on the M&S. Plus I can't keep my hands outta my hair....

This time last year I was apl, now im touching apl. Last month I cut my hair from bsl to the length it is now because I suffered a major setback that thinned my hair out and my ends were raggedy.

SL touching APL, full APL reaching for BSL.... Natural to relaxed due to heat damage... Hope to be full BSL by dec... A girl can dream can't she...

Last March I was neck length and this March I just passed CBL. I had a trim in January and took off about 1".

Last year around this time---I was just a little bit past neck length. Now I'm APL and I'm honestly praising God for the hair I have and just really praying for healthy hair overall. Sent from my iPhone using LHCF

I was BSB with damaged ends. I cut 1/2"(give or take a little) off every month almost every month last year. I'm MBL(barely) with healthier and thicker hair now. I hope I can gain much more length this year and I think I will because I don't have to cut as much. I really really hope that next year I can be WL or maybe even a little past it. :look: I'm so sick of this bsl/mbl area lol soo sick!

I got my hair straightened in May 2013 and it looks like I was some where between APL and BSL. I'm natural image-812421138.jpg

I just compared these pics a few days ago. They are 49 weeks apart. I don't think the before pic is as stretched as the current pic though to be fair.
