What is your Protein treatment of choice?

I only use protein if I am having severe breakage and shedding. When my hair was pretty damaged I would use Aphogee every 4-6 weeks. I also like MT but can't say if it's a good protein for my hair. Anytime I used it I ended up with protein overload.

I like the way Aphogee works but hate the smell, the fact that it's runny, and it kind of burns and stings my scalp and skin. It even melted through latex gloves. Not sure if I had a bad batch cause I asked if anyone else experienced this, but unfortunately I got no responses.

It has to be AO GPB/IN or HV Methi Sativa Tea (which goes against my vegan self, but hey I can't win them all), but my fave is AO IN because it makes my hair pop soft curls, and that never happens at any other time

bumping:bouncy: Great thread.....I ask a couple of ladies on here a similar question. I started to buy what they used but figured I need to use what I have. Hard core protein Aphogee two step. For moisture after the two step I deep condition with a plastic cap, and a shower towel for no less that 5 hours. I just revisited the two step last night , so good so far......

too much protein makes my hair hard.
apart from chicoro's 'moisture-drenched pre-poo', my moisture spritz, grapeseed oil and various leave-in and rinse-out conditioners, i don't use anything on my hair.
oh, and once in a while i'll clarify with bicarb of soda.

Steak pan drippings all over my head.

I do it twice a week. My hair is shiny and resilient. I do have a few dogs that follow me in the neighborhood but it helped me get from SL to CL (China length) My hair so long its in China.

Just kidding.

I use the Brazilian Keratin Protein Treatment.

I use AOGPB for deep conditioning, so that's the light protein I use. As for strong protein treatments? I found that my hair does not react well to them.

What I use instead are restructurers (i'm under the impression that they're different from protein, if I'm wrong, sorry lol). To that end, I use: Joico K-Pak restructurer (works the best on my hair)

I used to Nexxus Emergencee, but I don't use it anymore. It worked well enough. I just like my hair's reaction to Joico better. HTH!

ETA: my hair HATED aphogee. Never again!

you'd think so, but, the mayo works better for me. I used egg + olive oil/soybean oil but the mayo works better. I don't know why.

Henna
The best protein-like treatment I have ever used. It truly brought my hair back from the brink

Aubrey GPB
A really good everyday balancing conditioner, doesn't really do much for me when I really need some help rescuing my fluff.

Joico K-Pak
Worked pretty well for me, nothing to write home about.

I have tried MegaTek, Aphogee, and my own concoction of egg and conditioner.

I liked them all but megatek was the best this far.

What protein treatments are you ladies using? I am well aware that i need to up my protein treatments

I don't think Henna is considered a protein, but I love it for its strengthening qualities. That's the closest I get to a protein treatment!

I use Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Deep Conditioning Protein Pack mixed with one egg. This is all the protein that my hair needs.

i need this thread.

my hair is funny about protein, but i know i need it esp. b/c i've been experiencing breakage recently...i used ORS replenishing pak last week, and noticed a difference immediately...i like AO GPB too, but i havent used it in months...i picked up some aphogee 2 min the other day and i plan on using that a few times a month...im too scared to try anything hardcore.

JBCO protein conditioner (basically it's mayonnaise with some oils mixed). I also like using ayurvedic powders such as brahmi, henna and amla and Aubrey Organics GBP shampoo (which I use in place of normal shampoos sometimes).
