what has contributed mostly to your hair growth?

i ask this question because i am still a newbie at this and i am greatly overwhelmed by everyone's success stories by trying something that actually worked 4 their hair. i have a nice length it's not short but not long (according to me because a lot of other people say that it is long). anyway, what contributed 2 your hair growth? was it the vitamins? no heat? sticking to your regimen? etc. i am extremely curious.

happy growing!

-air drying
-no heat
-little manipulation (finger combing)
-protective styles
-avoiding mineral oil, alcohol, petroleum
-moisture, moisture, moisture & when finished adding the last bit of moisture, MOISTURIZE AGAIN!!!

Hello and welcome,

For me it was daily rinsing and using castor oil on my edges. I do take vitamins and suppose they help but sometimes I have neglected to take them and the growth is consistent. Hope this helps

Sticking to a simple routine using core products with minimal experimenting if you can.

Keeping the ends well moisturized. Putting most conditioner on hair ends and mixing in a natural oil for added moisture.

Avoiding direct heat e.g curling irons and blowdryers.

Conditioner washes after working out. Never leave the salt sweat in the hair.

Re: what has contributed mostly to your hair growt

I'm glad you're here. Welcome! There's a thread on this somewhere from not too long ago (maybe 2 weeks). Let me see if I can find it for you and I will bump it up. Okay

i echo everything that brownrelaxedhair said. the only thing that i can't do is the conditioner washes because i have psoriasis. i can do them every now and then, but i have to use shampoo at least once a week to keep my scalp clear. in addition, i wear protective styles probably 90% of the time.

anyway, when my hair was shorter, i always "DID" stuff to it to keep it looking fly. once i changed my habits and left it alone, that's when i started seeing progress. now i mostly just wait.

Yes Supergirl is right there is a thread on this. I started one about a month or so ago. There may be others.

Anyway, I echo what Peachtree said. avoiding alcohol, mineral oil, and petroleum as much as I can. Protective styles, little manipulation and lots and lots of moisture! Moisture is my hair's biggest asset! Also, waiting longer for my touch ups. I get them now four times a year. I'm working on three times a year.

Re: what has contributed mostly to your hair growt

Wrapping the hair at night and using products that detangle so that you are not yanking and pulling constantly at the the hair.

Re: what has contributed mostly to your hair growt

Hi ladies, my routine is vitamin supplements, washing 1-3x a week, moisturizing with wildgrowth oil, brushing daily (I'm training my hair to grow in straight) and just keeping it simple and not putting too much emphasis on it right now. Thanks to the ladies of this board I have learned alot. So ladies Thanks and keep up the good advice.

Re: what has contributed mostly to your hair growt

Staying out of the salon unless I need a touch up; not trimming every 2 months (I trim twice a year); trimming my own hair... hmm... I think that's about it
