I told myself I was going to try just Coconut oil this time.

but......

I added coconut oil, evoo, sweet almond oil, castor oil and ylang ylang and rose hip seed oil for frag. Smells great I am just praying it's not too oily.

lately i havent been mixing my shea butter with anything. i've found that it greatly moisturizes my hair sanz extra oils and what not lol.

Just made another mini-batch, I mixed with coconut, jojoba, avocado oils, few drops of lavendar EO, and a squirt of AV juice.

I mix with olive and or coconut.

I'm going to try olive, vit e and shea for my skin

for my hair I am going to try coconut and shea

I love the ideas in this thread. EO's are heaven scent lol

I hope this isn't a repeat thread......:ohwell:

But i wanted to know what the ladies in here use in their shea butter mix...last time i just mixed EVOO with mine and it was great....

This time i wanna mix it with Vatika Coconut oil and Evoo.

This is my mix!! I use EVOO and Shea butter for my body (@ night only) and Shea butter and Vatika Coconut oil for my hair!!

Love both!!

I didn't vote because I don't use anything else with my Shea Butter  The unrefined pure shea butter is all I need to moisturize. I don't even seal anymore - unless water can be decribed as a sealant :look:.

I bought some shea butter and have used it straight for a set of twist last week and it was suuupppperrr moisturized. I plan to start mixing little batches of butter in a week i have different butters and oils I want to try for both skin and hair. I have some fragrance oils I can't wait to use.

well, i just bought shea butter for the first time a few weeks ago and haven't been mixing it with anything yet. i mostly use it to smooth my edges and as a facial moisturizer. i do use coconut oil though....maybe a mixing is in order?...

I mix my shea butter with:

*coconut oil
*castor oil
*aloe vera gel (the type for sunburn)
*100% pure cocoa butter
*evoo

I melt the cocoa and shea butter in the microwave add the other ingredients and mix with a hand mixer.

I end up with a creamy smooth leave in.

With this mix a little goes a long way because too much can be greasy.

how are you storing your shea butter-coconut oil mix? I keep reading about bacteria and mold. I just bough unrfefined SB & CO and want to know if I should keep it in fridge or what...

TIA

You are supposed to mix in some pure tea tree oil or rosemary to help preserve it, you can also use vitamin E oil but it has to be a certain strength. There are also other things you can use as well. Hope this helps.

yah I think you melt the butter a little but my sister used one of those high tech mixers that turn for u...(u see I have no clue...lol). And lets it mix for an hour or so. Try some essential oils for the smell! Lavender or rosemary are my favs

Ooh see I knew that 1980 mixer I got from the FREE thrift store on base would come in handy!! :lachen: :yep: :spinning: Man I might need that workout though...30 minutes on each arm...lol! I'ma be scrong!

when i get my shea butter i am thinking of makeing a mix of
first i would make a tea with shikakai, brahmi, alma then i would melt the shea butter in the microwave and pour in the tea when the shea butter is melted then i would sit the shea butter mix in the fridge so it can harden you think that would work.

i mix my shea butter with coconut oil, olive oil, vitamin e, and aloe vera gel. i deep condition with this twice a week. nothing works better...

If it smells bad, I melt it, add oil(s) and mix it with my secondary conditioners--just to get rid of it.

Jojoba or Shea oil, I'd suggest. I don't really care for shea butter, but you can mix it w/ either of these oils and get something nice methinks.

  • Jojoba oil
  • Calendula infusion oil
  • Carrot seed oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Clary Sage essential oil
  • Rosemary essential oil

Shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter and white chocolate fragrance oil. If I just happen to have some jojoba, emu, or vitamin e oil in the house, I'll add a little of that, too. I use this same mixture on my body and my hair.

At this point, my shea butter mix and Carol's Daughter hair milk are the only products I use on my hair. I'm very heavy-handed because my hair looks and feels better when it's greasy.

I order my shea butter and coconut oil from agbangakarite.com and the cocoa butter and fragrance oil from fromnaturewithlove.com.

I mix a little shea butter in my palm with either Devacurl Set It Free or Loma Imply and smooth or scrunch on my dry hair. Shea butter is good for my hair in the cooler dry weather. I barely touch it in the summer.
