TWO QUESTIONS: SHEA BUTTER, ALOE VERA GEL

Question 1
1. Is my Shea moisturiser mix enough of a moisturiser or do I have to use something else? I have pure, unrefined shea butter and I have mixed it with coconut oil and castor oil and currently moisturise my hair with it twice a day. The reason why I ask this question is I've noticed A LOT of ladies here, fotkis or blogs use shea butter to seal in their moisturisers. I think it moisturises my hair well enough but I want to know if I should be concerned...
2. Is my (99.9% Aloe Vera) Aloe Vera Gel safe enough to use on my hair? I bought it from the hair store and it's for the body but I've noticed some ladies use 100% aloe vera gel.... again, should I NOT use it, I haven't tried it yet. I wanted to mix it with my shea moisturiser mix but I'd appreciate some advice first before trying it out.

TIA :-)

BUMPING!

Actually, I just went to a Health Food store after posting this and found 100% Aloe Vera Gel there... I'll get that too but I don't want to dump my already purchased one.

So please - is it okay to use on my hair?

Read the back of the package - if it lists more than 1 or 2 other ingredients you may want to google them just to be safe. I don't use Aloe Vera Gel, I use the Juice - I figure if it's safe to drink it's safe for my hair.

As for the Shea Butter - I've never used it, but I like to layer moisturizers - usually a spray (aloe vera/glycerine/water mix) then something creamy - like a butter, and then seal that with an oil. I only get that intense about it on my ends though, and only when I'm wearing protective styles. Your mix has two of the above, so I'm sure it's fine, although you might notice better results using it on damp vs dry hair.

It works different for different people. If your hair feels soft and moisturised with just Shea Butter then don't bother putting anything else in it. If you feel like it needs something else then give it a go.

Also don't get confused, I don't think you can moisturise your hair with something that doesn't have water in it. So putting shea butter in your hair twice a day might make it feel softer but it's not very likely it's making it more moisturised. If it works for you tho don't stop doing it cos someone suggests you need something else.

Like Soliel said check the ingredients of the other aloe vera jelly, if it's thats one pictured I think Ive seen other posters use it. I don't myself tho cos I hate the feel of it on my hands. HTH

Thank you, it lists more than 2 ingredients so maybe I'll stick to using it on my body and I'll buy the 100% aloe vera gel or look for juice.

Thanks for the moisturiser info too :-)
