What Did You Do This Month To Honor Your Hair?

I just thought I'd start a thread on this because I've been reflecting on my haircare and performance (not always good), and I thought it would be fun. :)

So here's mine:

I honored my hair this month by finding and using "one" shampoo and conditioner line which is all natural and doesn't contain SLS which was making my scalp itch.

Also, I still wash every MWF and condition on Sundays.

I keep more moisture on my hair and keep it conditioned daily.

And...here's my biggie..
I threw out all of my products today that contain SLS and other miscellaneous chemicals. I will never buy them again.
Whew! I feel better now. :D

I plan on honoring my hair by not washing it myself.
Continuing to use Alter Ego cond.
moisturizing it .
combing it less.

I'm not doing much of anything to it... lol.

limited combing, brushing, washing every week to week and a half, moisturizing... the basics.

I'm honoring my hair by not relaxing anymore!

Also, I'll honor it by doing a deep condition (haven't done one in a while :( )

Shaniquah,
I just love the way my hair comes out after deep conditioning. Sometimes I just rinse and leave some of it in.;)

One thing I just thought of...
I haven't given myself a hot oil treatment for awhile.
It sounds good...doesn't it? ;)

Interesting thread!

Let's see:

-I did my 2nd henna treatment this weekend. I love the color!
-I'm back to mixing oils & honey or molasses into my weekly deep conditioners
-I've reivisited cowashing, to add moisture to my hair
-Started baggying my whole head at night
-Started using Boundless Tresses

I'm honored my hair this month trying a truck load of different Dom cond and rinses! My hair is loving it. I'm also honoring my hair by giving it a break from the boring bun and wearing a rod look using magnetic rollers. Oh, I'm stretching again 12wks for the 2nd time!

Really? Molasses?
Interesting. I'm always learning. :)

I had an old jar in the cupboard that wasn't getting used. People add honey to their conditioners, this is pretty much the same thing IMO. Don't want it to go to waste!:)

Great thread.

I've been doing the following this month to honor my hair:
-prepooing with amla oil + castor oil
-scalp massages
-DCing weekly
-eliminating moisturizers that contain cones (they dry my hair out over time)

My hair has responded by retaining moisture, not breaking, and thickening up even more. I'm very happy with it. :)

I learned that over time, too:yep: . I can use a DC with cones/mineral oil 1-2x a week with no problems, but I can NOT use a daily moisturizer with cones. They leave a film on my hair and make my ends feel dry.

YES!! They feel nice going on, but a few days later, my hair is dry as all outdoors. I don't believe in daily moisturizing being a NECESSITY...if conditioners and leave-ins are working properly, it should be an OPTION. NTM & Rusk were making it a necessity. I've removed those and added the Blends Soy Replenisher, and my hair has been much happier. :)

I honor it every month with deep conditioning, protein treatments, buns, and minimal manipulation. :)

Better now than before I joined the board.

I honored my hair by:
taking things I have learned from LHCF and putting them to practical use.
I took my micro links out today.
I bought a head massager to circulate blood flow to help with growing.
I bought MTG, Peppermint, coconut, rosemary, joboba, and Vitamin E oils
to make my own "Hair Crack"
I baggie my head every night and during the day when I am home

And today after taking my Micro Links out I did not rake through my head like I would have in the past with a fine tooth comb.

I did more but I will stop there
can you tell I am new:lol:

It sounds like you are really on top of things.
The head massager sure sounds interesting too.
I have the massaging brush, is that what you have?

I know what you mean.
I never knew that I had so much to learn about hair until I joined LHCF.

I've been around. :) Things are going quite well actually...I did a commercial last month, and I start working on an internet pilot this month. On top of that, I booked a PSA that I shoot next week. I'll be directing a commercial next month, and of course, I've been writing for a magazine.

So, there's certainly no shortage of things to do, but I manage to squeeze LHCF in.

I'm glad things are going well for you.
I've been very busy myself...too much to describe here, so that is why I disappear sometimes.
Keep on manifesting your dreams! Focus and Action is key!
PM me sometime...K

I TOTALLY know the feeling...I'll disappear from LHCF for weeks or even months at a time then come back and jump in.

I'll definitely be PMing you. :)

BlkOnyx488,
It's not unusual here.
Our health food and metaphysical stores carry this item.
I tried it once and it was pretty neat. :)

I honored my hair this month by giving it extra moisture while I'm sleeping with the 3 Month Baggy Challenge.:)
ETA: That head massager looks interesting BlkOnyx488. :scratchch I've seen in at the health food store I go to.
