Girl, I have the same exact problem. 
I alway try to tease my hair at the top to give it some lift so the flatness doesn't show, but it always goes to lookin flat again. My sister's head is the same way. I think its cuz of my big forehead. All the roundness of my head is at the front so theres nothin left at the back, if that makes sense.
