What Bandwagon did you NEVER jump on? What Technique did you NEVER adopt?

All of em except the Juice, CG method, and JBCO. Everything else just seemed too complicated.

ETA: I take that back...i also did the Bee Mine growth serum challenge afew yrs back too.

I didn't think co-washing, fingercombing, wash n go's were considered "bandwagons" tho:perplexed I just thought that that's just what some ppl do.

Sounds like im on a lot of bandwagons then!
I don't remember what else tho.:look:

I tried baggying at the VERYYYY beginning of my hhj...didn't like it.

umm...umm.. These are things i'll Never Ever do... but I'm a regular bandwagoner after tons of research and results and facts and data and pie charts

LOL, yes, the Nonie charts!

never got into the cooch cream. i considered it actually but after doing other stuff i realized, based on research, there was nothing i could do to speed up my natural hair growth. i decided to focus instead on maximum retention.

I've never jumped on any of these:
Used MKT
BKT
no pooing
Curly girl method
No combing
No heat or hide your hair challenges
Henna
ACV rinses
Ayurvedic

I never joined the yeast infection cream for your hair-- too creepy
I have never done henna, acv rinses, baking soda
wearing protective styles 365 days of the year
no shampoo
using mn for hairgrowth

CG method
The Jheri Juice craze

Come to think of it, I don't think I've hopped on many bandwagons. I may switch up products from time to time but I've kept it relatively simple.

Ive tried most everything except

wigs, lacefronts and braids (never liked fake hair)
diatomeceous earth and skala (only because I couldnt find a suitable source)
Dominican products - only because by time I decided to try them I had cut out 'cones
Cathy Howse

I must say though that 95% of the things Ive tried have worked for me and are part of my Hair and skin regimen now

I don't think I've ever been on a bandwagon. I tried ceramides, jbco and moon cycle cutting/trimming last year or 2010. They were fine but I didn't end up adopting any of them.

I will never do the baggy thing. My scalp has to breathe.

I was wondering do you actually need to stretch or protective style to have length. I'm guessing not now.

Omg I can't believe how many people said henna... It can be a pain in the butt in terms of preventing the messiness but its so worth. Some people make mixes more complicated than it has to be. imo

Henna

i don't think i will ever mess with Henna. too much mixing and i think it will make my hair hard and crunchy.

the vitamin challenges. i can only stomach one or two at the most and i am lazy.

I am such a bandwagon hopper. But some of you guys put me to shame. Yall tried everything.

We are almost identical on this, lol. Even though I was able to find a shampoo without Sulfates, I wasnt searching for it, its awesome

I will add MTG to this, a few years ago it seemed lik EVERYONE was doing it, and I just cant get with stuff that stinks, lol

CG method (you would have to PRY my Silicon Mix/cone laced products out of my hands when I'm dead!)

Anti-Mineral Oil (love Silicon Mix too much for that!)

No Poo (that's just gross to me)

Baggying(too lazy)

Anti-Parabens( sounds like a crock of sh*t to me; sorry, but I would like for my products to NOT spoil after 3 days)

Sulfate Free Shampoo (well I actually tried it and it turned out to be an epic FAIL)

Shea butter mixes for moisture (Shea butter does not moisturize my hair at ALL!!)

"Natural" online hair companies (too damn expensive and I like going to the store to smell/see the product before purchasing)

ETA: No heat challenges (my relaxed hair THRIVED when I was blowdrying/flatironing my hair weekly and getting Dominican blowouts occasionally and I have straightened my natural hair since October at least 5x without any heat damage so far)

Stone me now because I definitely have spoken blasphemy to some of you guys!

I will try most things at least once. I have done most of the stuff mentioned above, my only exception is putting stuff on my scalp. I have kept a few of the things I have tried (henna/ayurveda, finding alternatives to shampoo for cleansing (clay, co-washes, etc), and no cones/mineral oil).

I don't consider styling (WnG, twists, wigs, etc) and where products are bought bandwagons.

I see a few people put the KimmayTube leave in. I never did it knowing it as the KimmayTube leave in.

To me it just seems like all the products I layered in my hair rolled into one step. And that just doesn't work for me, my curl detention just isn't the same if I use that method. I HAVE to layer my products one by one after I do a wash in order for it to be effective. I do mix all the ingredients up in a spray bottle and use that as a refresher for second/third day hair. But I tried it on my own before I ever heard about the Kimmaytube leave in.

To be honest I'm super new to all of this so there are a TON of things I haven't done. But things I don't see myself doing are: wigs, henna/indigo, Indian powders, denman brush, no shampoo, baggying..... that's all I have for now

I've gotta add:

-Low/no shampoo regimens (my scalp needs shampoo)

-Going natural (though my hair is still curly, a relaxer tames it a bit without any breakage issues)

-Hide your hair challenges

I never used grow aids. In the beginning of my HHJ I would hear about all these different grow aids that I could try to get my hair to grow faster. But since my issue wasn't growth but retention, I figured I'll just be patient and see my hair retaining the 1/2 inch a month that it already grows.

I jumped on the rollersetting bandwagon, several product bandwagons, and the stretching bandwagon.

I'm still rollersetting and I still love it.

I never jumped on the BKT, oil rinsing, or MegaTek bandwagons.

I tried transitioning, so I guess you could say I was on the natural hair bandwagon or part of the "movement" for a while.

Henna. I would like to try it, but it looks messy. Plus, I don't have the patience to leave it on my hair for that long.

plopping

yeast cream

no heat--my hair likes heat. as long as a person knows how to take care of their hair..there shouldn't be any hair damage. one time i went to get my hair done a couple years ago,she didn't use a heat protectant..that was the last time i had heat damage.

biotin challenge or any other vitamin challenge. there is always a day or two that i don't take my vitamins.- biotin cause horrible breakouts..

hide your hair for 6 months- i got bored. and it is too hot in florida to do it every day.

green smoothies for growth- too much darn money and this is the reason why i have a hard time eating anything green now.-i am forcing myself.

sheamoisture curl milk-the coconut one--i use that as a body lotion.

all natural--the only line that i really like without all chemicals-Claudie's-she is soo nice and i have never experienced bad customer service.

no comb/finger combing challenge.--really. this dense hair natural or relaxed needs to be comb. when i was sick and my mom was cornrowing my hair--she never fussed and cussed so much in her life.

not using grease--i never stopped. i just never use it daily.

hairfinity
bkt oil rinses--an oily mess.

olive oil--too heavy
shea butter--i don't like the smell

egg shakes--made me hurl.
diatomaceious earth and azteck clay--dry hair for days
scritching--i hate that word and didn't like the feeling on my scalp- as a matter of fact it irritated my scalp.

ayurvedic regimens--
henna- i read on another board a poster's had green pee.
