What Bandwagon did you NEVER jump on? What Technique did you NEVER adopt?

CG method (you would have to PRY my Silicon Mix/cone laced products out of my hands when I'm dead!)

Anti-Mineral Oil (love Silicon Mix too much for that!)

No Poo (that's just gross to me)

Baggying(too lazy)

Anti-Parabens( sounds like a crock of sh*t to me; sorry, but I would like for my products to NOT spoil after 3 days)

Sulfate Free Shampoo (well I actually tried it and it turned out to be an epic FAIL)

Shea butter mixes for moisture (Shea butter does not moisturize my hair at ALL!!)

"Natural" online hair companies (too damn expensive and I like going to the store to smell/see the product before purchasing)

ETA: No heat challenges (my relaxed hair THRIVED when I was blowdrying/flatironing my hair weekly and getting Dominican blowouts occasionally and I have straightened my natural hair since October at least 5x without any heat damage so far)

Stone me now because I definitely have spoken blasphemy to some of you guys!

Tangle teezer
Henna/cassia
Going natural

I have tried most of these and have been pleased with many...
some of yall are missing out on some great methods though...

MN
MTG
Pre-Pooing
Shea Butter
Henna
Dominican Products
BKT
Heat Training
ACV Rinsing

There's a lot more that I can't remember right now. Most of the time I don't jump on bandwagons because I either think they are stupid/dangerous or because I have not seen any proof that all the extra stuff does anything that would be worth my time or money.

All of them but the BKT, Dominican products, and moisture block. These have worked very well for me!!

The cheap conditioners bandwagon was a real waste for me.

Can someone define bandwagon because some people are naming things that I wouldn't consider a bandwagon.

Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't make it a bandwagon:perplexed

Lacefronts
Bunning (wondering if I should have tried this)
Steaming
Skala
Dominican Blowouts
Diatomaceous(sp) Earth
Body Fluids on hair

bandwagon
a popular trend that attracts growing support

So are you on a bandwagon if you were already doing those practices/using those products before it became popular?

here are mine..

henna--made my natural hair a tangled mess
mega tek
tons of biotin for hair growth-megafood one daily and the one for HSN
raw egg shake--yuck
no combing- no way
oil rinses
kia fizzle
scritching/scratching scalp
monistat on the scalp=migraines that left me in bed all day.
baggying left my hair a soggy mess
mtg
finger combing-never worked on my kinky thick dense hair

no heat..my hair loves it when the temp is not too hot

Diatomteaceous--no way i am going to ingest stuff that kills bugs

spirulina and cholorella--made me sick for days--i never overdosed my stomach did not like it.

kimmytube

1) Shaving the side of my head--though I was tempted.
2) Miconazole Nitrate applied to scalp for growth--lately tempted, but didn't plunge.
3) Getting microbraids--no one can ever talk me into this one...not after the resultant horrid edges I've seen! (and the days-long takedown)
4) Using a steamer--this is a good idea, but at this point I'm just lazy and low maintenance w/my hair...might do this in the future.
5) Henna/Indigo/Cassia (just haven't tried but may at some point).
6) BKT
7) Raw egg shakes/smoothies
8) Constant trimming "for growth" (ok that's just b.s.)
9) Leaving on DC overnight

monistat
ayurveda
taking a lot of vitamins
steamer
raw egg anything
Megatek/OCT

Maybe this is just me but I don't see anything that wrong with bandwagons. I think they're nice, especially for people who are just starting out...I notice its always the people with their regimens down completely that turn their noses up at bandwagons but how else are you supposed to know what works for your hair if you don't experiment? Not everyone has their hair act together:lol:

long live the bandwagons

Rei I must cosign.
Experimenting and trying new things is the most fun part (IMO), of this hair care thing, and I've pretty much known what I prefer (w/ regard to ingredients anyway) from jump.
I've been low/no poo, prepooing (I called it "distracting the shampoo" before LHCF ), and ACV rinsing for years. So to learn new products and techniques should be more encouraged, instead of written off as following.

But of course, for me this excludes some of the sheer insanity. I'm still trying to recover from the breast milk thing I heard last night.

:lachen:girl that was a joke, it was making fun of some of the the other ridiculous growth aids that were floating around.

Rei ...ummm. oh. The joke part skipped right past me. :look:
 Still, I see nothing wrong with many of the things that have been labeled bandwagons with the added negative connotation.

Eta: I'm relieved in a way...
