that works REALLY REALLY WELL FOR YOUR HAIR?

Two days ago I just realized that the best softner and detangler for my hair when I'm re styling is water. SMH! I'm excited, ashamed and angry. All these years.. 5 YEARS! AND I'm just realizing this? :nono: I've been looking, buying, googling hairsite searching everything up under the sun looking for an AFFORDABLE detangler.

It's been in my bathroom and kitchen all along. :wallbash:

What after all these years, months or days :lachen: are you realizing really works for your hair and you are just now finding out?

I'm natural by the way and I could never go back to relaxers if I want to reach any type of volume or style goals. Yes, I had LHCF when I was relaxed my hair maintained some length but was thin. :nono: Just the natural characteristics of my hair.

In order to reach my goals I really didn't have a choice but to go with the flow with my natural hair. WHICH I LOVE BY THE WAY. Best esthetic decision I ever made..that and braces.

I am realizing that many people probably gave up on their goals because they couldn't find what worked for their hair immediately...I'm happy I didn't because 5 years in I finally found it..water out of all things..:lachen: Now, that being said I wasn't in a fight with my hair I just used tons of products to detangle and re style which was totally unnecessary and expensive.

A few weeks ago, i found out that the best leave in/moisturizer for my hair was on my bathroom shelf all along: hehh. I still use my other stuff too, but i just love that my fave condish has yet another wonderful use.

Hairveda's Whipped cream. I was so late on this and now it's all I need to moisturize my hair. I also was late on Qhemet biologics burdock root butter

Daily co-washing...My hair really enjoys the moisture and it has lessened the amount of shed hairs tremendously. Also it leaves my hair smelling really, really good.

A few days ago, I found out that applying Mane n' Tail Conditioner before blowdrying was good for my hair.

I wish I had been all up in the ceramides 5 or 6 months ago!! Adding hemp seed oil to myDC's has been a godsend!

Wheatgerm oil! It smells like total a$$ to me but its one of the best things i could have started adding to my dcs :)

Hmm - I have a bottle in my fridge. Bought it for my hair but couldn't remember why. I'll try it in my DC tomorrow night. Thanks

ALSO - I'm just finding out that I too can have defined coils - YAY! Thought it was just not gonna happen. I tried other stuff - my hair said puhleez :lachen:My edges were just so defensive when I tried smoothing them down but they seem to love Eco-Styler gel. Me too!

Water and protective styling. I wore my 'fro out consistently for 6 years and was a huge product junky when it came to moisturizers. I was always looking for a product that would keep my hair from getting dry but not leave a lot of buildup in the process. After all of that, moisturizing with water was the biggest hair "duh" I had. Protective styling came in a close second as I noticed that my hair actually retained length when I started wearing my ends tucked more often. My hair never got past shoulder length when I was wearing it out all the time for 6 years. A big "duh" there, too....

Well for ME, it wasn't just one THING/PRODUCT that worked for me, but more along the lines of my entire regimen. I have had eczema since 5th grade (never knew where it came from either) And up until now i've always struggled with it, but ever since I've found LHCF and began my "official" hair care journey with a strict regimen...I hardly ever see traces of it on my scalp :D

All along while I was suffering from it...I would be in search of some kinda "miracle eczema erase" medication and each time I thought I was onto something...it would fail, overall it was a total waste of money and time...and who knew all along All I had to do was "listen" my hair and give it what it wants? smh.....I was such a blonde back then!

I abosolutely feel like a burden has been lifted off my with this discovery!

So sad to say that I've just learned that black women can grow their hair (I hang my head in shame). So this hair journey has been enlightening for me: My hair loves daily moisturizing and sealing, cold water and ACV rinses, adores pre poo, DC's and being washed more often. My hair is orgasmic at low manipulation styles. My scalp loves jojoba oil and scalp massages. Tonight i'm trying a coffee rinse maybe it will enjoy that too:)

I just realized THIS WEEK that Wet Bunning is best for me and my lifestyle and it is possible to enjoy my protective styling instead of just feeling like I have to do it. I am in the Army and have been just putting my hair in a clip because when I first started found LHCF my bun was boderline anorexic:nono:. Now that my hair has thickened up from texlaxing instead of relaxing bone straight my bun looks full and very professional and stylish at the same time. I think I found my staple hairstyle for during the week:yep:

Ceramides and porosity control products, as noted by my siggy. My transitioning hair is so soft and manageable! I'm a ceramide and porosity control groupie for life!

I don't have to completely avoid heat anymore if I just use the right heat protectants. I used Chi silk infusion and Beyond the Zone heat spray before blow drying two days ago and I didn't see any breakage.

I've learned that my hair can't get enough too much moisture.. the more I give the more it wants... and I'm ok with that! I've also learned that it's much easier for me to keep my hair moisturized when it's in "natural" styles rather than being straight.

I’ve had several “hair epiphanies” over the course of the last couple of weeks.

First, I recently discovered that my hair is not as protein sensitive as it has led me to believe (yes, I am placing all of the blame on my hair for deceiving me ). I find protein-laden deep conditioners to be most effective after they have been given a generous dose of oil, and protein laced leave-in conditioners are only functional once they have been halved, with each half being greatly diluted with water and jojoba (I couldn’t salvage that Kinky-Curly Knot Today stuff even after adding fairy dust to it).

Secondly, I just learned that adding a liberal amount of oil to mediocre conditioners makes for some superb co-wash conditioners; countless conditioners have been resurrected into active rotation using this method.

Third, I have come to recognize that although my hair loves oil, it does not respond well to being immersed in the strengthening oils, such as avocado, neem and amla; and it especially dislikes products with a high aloe vera content.

Fourth, only last week I realized that diluting my shampoo is equally as effective as its concentrated form; if not better.

This may sound simple but you ladies will understand what I mean: I have learned that my hair doesn't have to be bone straight and 'bouncy' to look good. I'm rocking a 2 day old co-washed braidout (done with 2 braids) and I look and feel great. Confidence was what I needed all along, not flat ironed hair.

Also, I love the Jilbere shower comb - changed my life!!!!

Using ayervedic oils to pre poo is making my hair darker on its own. I won't need to use a hair color if this keeps up!:yep: It's also helping me to have a growth spurt that I did not expect!

This isnt necessarily surrounded by products but Im just now finding out how confident I am now to where my natural hair! Whether its in twists or in a fro I am rockin it lol.

I too also discovered how water is the best moisturizer for my hair haha. Who woulda "thunk" it! :-)

Until a few months ago I didn't realize that weekly blow drying was damaging my hair (Duh!) now I air dry and, that constant use of the same products have made a major difference on my hair. Before I was buying this and trying that, now i'm left with drawers full of products. I do believe less is more!

HHJ!

That my hair does NOT like or need frequent DCs to stay moisturized. I've just been super busy and didnt have the time to devote to my 1-2 week dcing sessions, Ive just been co-washing every 2-3 days and quick conditioning in the shower for the last few months with Joico conditioners. I dont see nearly as much breakage as I used to, and my hair is so much stronger. I always knew that my fine hair was easily over-moisturized, but I had a hard time really understanding what was doing it! Now I might DC as a treat once a month but water is really doing the trick right now!

Just realizing that it takes a full 1-2 years to gain noticeable length and that during that period your hair may not always be cute and that's okay. Short-term sacrafice for long-term success.

From watching a video one of our members posted I decided to try using a cheepie condish in place of setting lotion for my braidouts and I am HOOOOKED! My hair is much softer with an even better hold now.
