Are any of the naturals out there using the Wanakee/Rueben's/Beverly Johnson/Verifen Complex products? I know we all do protective styling, I was just wondering if the products were any good on natural kinky/curly/coily/nappy hair. TIA

Yeah I know it cost a pretty penny, but the product junkie in me says "

Pssst...hey you, we just got lucky at the casino, all our bills are paid, and you don't need any clothes, so why not splurge on more hair products, go on Mate, you know you want to"...

I have no earthly idea, I have always wondered what happened to Wanakee, I have read she is/was a model for Christ (Christian Model), but her picture wasn't on the site with her bio. I hope she is well.

Rueben's was some hair stylist that owned some big salon who came right after Wanakee and before Bev. Johnson. (dug up an old jar the other day of hairline essential cream with his name on it) He didn't last too long at all, his salon is still listed on the site so I guess no hard feelings.

I'm using verifen complex right now for my challenge. The only reason I started back using it is because of the positve experience I had in the past on my relaxed hair. The products work well on my natural hair, you just have to learn what amount of the product works best for you and how to work with it. It works excellent for flat ironing and I did shake and go once and had good results. They are very good products, but they don't work miracles. It is expensive and some have found alternative products. I'd say if you have the extra cash (yeah, like there is a such thing as "extra" cash, lol) treat yourself to a kit, BUT their are def. many quality less expensive products on the market. Let us know if you try it!

I like the line myself and have decided to stick with it BUT

I was wondering about who Wanakee is and was curious as to what she looks like.

Anybody have a picture?

I've never seen her and I've noticed that she is mentioned quite a bit in this message board regarding hair.

I used the products on natural hair and they worked okay for me. I found that some of it was too heavy for my hair type, too much oil or something. The hairline cream is to die for, and I liked the oil, but other than that I can't say it's superior to other products on the market. I recall that the poo was really heavy, the constant care for ends wasn't anything special, the conditioners were okay but didn't instantly moisturize me like things I use now.

I ordered the Moisture Emphasis set, constant care for ends, and the creme gel (the triple oil special). I use to use them a long time ago too. I like them for a few weeks but I prefer my homemade butter mix and Fantasia IC gel.

My mom is addicted to the Constant Care for Ends. It's funny because I ordered the stuff first (back in 98) and let her try it. Now she can't get enough.

I don't use it anymore because I went natural and found that the oil doesn't work well on my natural hair. But when I press, I borrow my mom's!

thanks for the review everyone, I think I'll just stock up on Kenra and Castor Oil. I viewed the ingredients lists, a lot of %$()*&&_ and *&*)^^%^%% and more ^&%%&(*& with petrolatum. If that's all that it has, I can get me some LIV and let live.
