Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

Has any one used Beverly Johnson's Verifen Hair Complex? I'm looking to buy the Hairline Essential Creme and some other ones. If you did, what were your results? Did you like it? Thanks

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

There's a thread somewhere about these products, but I couldn't find it... I copied this from another board I posted it on:

I felt stupid buying hair care products being endorsed by a woman wearing a wig. If Wanakee had never been associated with the product, I would never have purchased them. My experience may be different than other because I have a feeling I was sent some old products that had been sitting in the warehouse for a while.

I have tried the Advanced Conditioning Treatment, the Hair Oil, the Detangling Spray, the Hairline Essential Cream and Constant Care for Ends. My cousin sent me some and some I ordered from the site.

The Hair Oil smelled funny--like vinegar. Maybe I got some from an old batch... It was oily but it doesn't contain any oil. Weird... I gave it away. I prefer Carolyn Gray's Healthier Hair in a Bottle oil.

The Detangling Spray did not detangle my hair. I expect detanglers to be slippery and this one isn't. It was sticky which made it even more difficult to comb my hair. I sent this back for a refund. I'll stick to ION Anti-Frizz spray or African Royale Braid Spray.

The Hairline Cream was too heavy for my hair. It built up too fast. No matter how little I used, I had white crumbs by bedtime! It might work for someone with thicker hair. I sent this back, too. I like Elasta QP Glaze.

The Constant Care for Ends is a good product. It works just like they say it will. But it's not worth $17! There are cheaper alternatives, IMO. QP Mango Butter and Blue Magic Coconut Oil come to mind... I'll finish the jar I have but I won't repurchase. If you can afford it, this one wouldn't be a total waste of $$$.

I really liked the Adv. Cond. Treatment. This is the thickest conditioner I have ever seen! My hair was very soft and moisturized after I used it. But (again) there are cheaper products that are just as good or better. This product looks and smells a lot like the much cheaper Lady Velvet Instant Repair.

These products are a nightmare of grease and chemicals… Which wouldn’t be so bad if the stuff didn’t cost so d**n much! These products are very cheap for them to make. You can get cheaper, better quality products at any bss or health food store.

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

I really don't agree with that review. I used the products four 4 years with excellent results. The products are absolutely wonderful!

Now if you use them in excess thats were you may have problems because the products are so rich.

The hair oil, just use a little dime size amount, absorbs wonderfully into your hair and it doesn't smell like vinegar. I would never have given it any smell!

The shampoos whether it is the regular or moisture emphasis leave your hair feeling soft and silky. You don't need much of those either.

The conditioners are wonderfully rich and leave your hair soft and very manageable.

The detangling spray is just an added shot of conditioner to make detangling easier. Provides that little extra slip needed.

I love the hairline creme. All you need is just a little on your finger tips and just smooth to hold down those frizzies. It is oil based but leaves you hair soft and shiny. I used it as a styling gel replacement.

My favorite product is the constant care for ends. Wow this just melts into your finger tips. It is wonderful for preserving the ends. It melts extra moisture in to combat breaking and splitting.

Actually I have not yet found any products elsewhere that have compared to the Bev J. products. They stand out on their own. I give them an A++

Someone else told me the same thing. That's why I think I got some old products. They smelled and looked "funny"... When I contacted customer service about it, they never responded. That stuff cost too much for me to go through any foolishness!

Those are great choices!

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

I'm a day late and a doller short, but I'll weigh in on this one.

I agree that the hairline cream is a winner. It smooths down the new growth, if only for the day. Apply and cover your edges with a satin wrap for a few minutes. They'll dry flat and straight.

The end cream made my ends kinda stiff and clumped together such that I was afraid to comb through them DRY. (Combing's OK if you only do it in the shower wet, though.) When I complained, my mom pointed out that the idea is to rub it between the palms of the hands to melt it down. Then I slick it on the bottom ~3 inches of hair before I wrap my hair for the night (no more combing, just go to sleep). In the morning my ends are moisturized and soft and happy. Perhaps the body heat from my head helps it penetrate the ends? I dunno that it's any more effective then, say, Profectiv's end cream. It just costs $13 more.

The oil was thick as syrup. Ack! I can't recommend it! The smell's not horrible, but I can't place it. I suppose a little dab'll do ya, but it totally gums the hairshafts together if you're trying to moisturize your entire head. I'm too heavy handed for this product. My stylist complained that it was pooling on my scalp and fermenting.

Eeew! Thank goodness for CO washes and lessons from LHCF.

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

Oh yeah, Momma told me not to order the oil/syrup, but I didn't listen. My bad.

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

I would agree with that review. I have found other products that are more effective on my hair that are less expensive.

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

My two cents.. I started using the whole line about five years ago. I have found other shampoos and conditioners that I prefer to Wanakee's. But, I have never found anything that moisturizes my ends better than Constant Care for Ends (but it must be applied sparingly).

I wasn't crazy about the Hairline cream, but I am still looking for somthing to keep my hairline looking decent.

thanks ladies

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

I am also coming in late but I have to add that I love the Constant Care for Ends. Yeah, I like the Elasta QP and my Profectiv products but this stuff is wonderful. The downside is the price. I don't see paying $17 for a jar of it. My ends would have to be in really bad condition again for me to do so. But it is superior to ANYTHING I have used.

I think the constant care for ends is superior to any other product similar. It does last a long time if used sparingly.

It does last a long time (shelf life)--I have some from 1995 that has not gone bad.

1995? I usually used mine up before it sat that long.

Constant Care for ends huh? I was hoping to hear good raves about the Hairline Essential Creme. I really need an alternative to gel or at least a gel that dosen't dry and flake out my hair

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

I think some good choices would be ORS Lock & Twist Gel, QP Glaze or Let's Jam. The last two have mineral oil in them, but so does the HE Creme... They offer a soft hold--no stiffness whatsoever. Lately I've been using QP Mango Butter for moisture/hold and that works, too.

Thanks to the person who suggested that!

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

sorry if this was already answered, but what happened to Wanakee. Didn't she used to have her name on this line of products?

Re: Beverly Johnson\'s Verifen Hair Complex???????

Hairoil.com customer service says she sold her interest in the company so she could devote more time to a ministry she started with a bunch of other models.
