UPDATE: Since this challenge is so popular, it will be re-occuring (much like the HYH challenge) every 3 months.

The next challenge will start early October and either I or Jaegermany will start a thread for sign-up's late September

July 9th Updates:

* Sign-up’s for Newbies are now closed. We still need Big Sister’s, so please sign up!!
* I am deleting the challenge rules from this post, as it is quickly becoming mega long. If you are a Big Sister with a question, please PM me, if you are a Newbie with a question, please PM Jaegermany.

JULY 4TH UPDATE:

It has come to my attention that some people have yet to contact their Big Sister or Newbie. If you are still interested in participation in this challenge, please do so immediately, as a courtesy to whomever you have been matched with.
If you are no longer interested, or have yet to be contacted, please PM either myself or Jaegermany so we can reassign as needed.
Staying in contact is essential during this challenge, as the whole purpose of the challenge is for the experienced Big Sister’s to pass on their knowledge to the Newbies.

Thanks!!! :)

Puh-lease adopt me!!! :creatures

Hair Type: 4a/4b/some 3
Relaxed / Natural: relaxed
Starting Length: APL
Hair Goal: Waist length
Current Challenges: I'm deep condiitioning, only combing on wash days once or twice a week, pre-pooing with Le Kair Cholesterol/EVOO and rollersetting with almost no heat (under hood dryer for an hour with rollersets and the occasional curling iron with heat protectant for the curls that just don't curl) and taking Biotin and Nioxin
Current Problems: DANDRUFF!!!
Anything you don't like to do: use a lot of heat

For The Newbies

Hair Type: 4 A/B
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed/Transitioning (12 weeks post)
Starting Length: Jaw
Hair Goal: Head full of long (stretched or unstretched) healthy natural hair. :D Chop scehduled for June 19, 2008. I'd like to be able to rock a nice twist/braid out by then.
Current Challenges: Frustrated with the limited hair stlying options for transitioning with short hair, but too afraid to BC. Did it once and I was traumatized until it grew out.
Current Problems: Thinnning patch in the crown. Just recently had a dermatologists tell me that if I keep relaxing, I may lose my hair in the crown (eventually), due to a weakening of the hair follicles from the chemicals in relaxers. This was just more motivation for me to follow through with what I'd already planned to do. I really miss my natural hair.
Anything you don't like to do: weaves, braids, wigs

For the Big Sisters:

Hair Type: 4a
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed

We will talk about other products when we talk;) Holla! Punks need NOT apply. LOL. I'm about growing that hair!!! If, you need help with selecting your products. oh, and if you do not take vitamins, we'll have to work that out but that's not important, if you don't want to take vits. Holla at ya girl!

ETA: I don't mind having two lil sistas:-)

For the Newbies:

Hair Type: 4a or 4b
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed
Starting Length:Neck length
Hair Goal:Bra-strap
Current Challenges:Styling, especially w/o heat
Current Problems:Thin edges
Anything you don't like to do: Co washing/MTG:eek:

I currently wash and DC 2x weekly. I am using Cathy Howse UBH Conditioner, UBH Moisturizer and EVOO/Keracare Essential Oil. I DC w/heat with the UBH for 20 minutes then rinse and DC with Keracare Humecto in the Tub for 20 minutes w/heat. I only comb in the shower with a shower comb on wash day during my rinsing of the Keracare Humecto.

I will need a Big Sista that is not hung up on the products that will be used but is more interested in technigues, low manipulation, low to no heat, etc.
