For the Big Sisters

Hair Type: 3B/3C
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed
Anything you feel you are great at: Rollersetting like nobody's business, Keeping those ends healthy
Ground rules you feel strongly about: No direct heat, and deep conditioning with every wash

Hair Type: 4a, 4b (crown)
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed, thick, thicker at crown.

Anything you feel you are great at: Moisture/Protein balance, managing two textures, homemade pre-poo's, indian hair products, air-drying, self-relaxing (pre- and post-care), coloring (w/o highlights), helping people find cost-effective solutions, using product according to season, support & encouragement.

Ground rules you feel strongly about: photo journaling progress (even if it's not publicly shared), clarifying depending on climate & physical activity, growing hair from the inside out (physical activity & vitamins), stretching to your hair's comfort, protective styling, moisturizing & sealing, minimal heat, trimming or dusting as you see fit, exercising patience & respect.

Additional: I'm an advocate of oils (coconut, amla, evoo, jojoba, etc), kitchen ingredients (honey, mayonnaise, lemon juice, etc). I've found Indian hair products work best on my hair, but I still use Nioxin, Suave, Pantene and Motions. And lastly, if I don't know the answer to something, I will bend over backwards to find it for you.

Ground rules you feel strongly about: I would prefer to work with individuals who are willing to protective style at least 5 days out of the week. Heat use in my charm school will be minimal, but heat passes will be offered after initial milestones have been met. Depending on products currently being used in their regimens, my charm school ladies might have to purchase a product or two. I'd also prefer newbies with an open mind and patience. I should also mention that I don't necessarily promote the use of "growth aids" , so . . . :look::lol: Finally, I tend to be long-winded, so anyone who is willing to endure my documentaries is welcome!

Oh, and a good camera is a plus. :D

eta: I am willing to accept multiple adoptees. Triplets, Quads, Quints-- no more than Quints though

Newbie here

Hair Type: Do not know
Relaxed / Natural: Transitioning. I have 2-3" new growth already. I cut about 4-5 inches off already.
Starting Length: below earlobe about an inch if that much from shoulder length
Hair Goal:I would like to be APL or maybe BSL
Current Challenges: None
Current Problems: I have a very hard time dealing with both textures especially wash days. My new growth seem to be dry and it does seem like my hair is growing at all. I have a regime that needs some work and also I cannot do any other style than a rollerset.
Anything you don't like to do: not really. I do wish to please keep it simple. I cannot buy any new products since I already have a lot that I desperately need to use up. I am really willing to try harder to get my hair growing along the right path.

Keep it comin ladies!!! Need as many big sisters as lil sisters!

Pairs will be listed manana!! Get in where you fit in...

LOL! Im like the P.Diddy of this challenge talkin' bout "take that, take that".... I need to quit!

Hair Type:I have no clue....
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed every 3 months
Starting Length: A little past bra strap
Hair Goal: Waist length
Current Challenges: None
Current Problems: Trying to figure out how to maintain my hair with an active lifestyle. I workout 5 days a week. And, how to keep my hair moisturized. Whew, I hope my problems aren't overwhelming:lol: !
Anything you don't like to do: i.e. Hmm, I do not like co washes, buns. I, however, do keep my hair tied up 100% though! . I do not like popping too many vits. I take primrose oil, flaxseed and hair skin and nails. Bagging.
Things I like: I rollerset and deep condition with each wash. My products I already have. overnight oil treatments.
Adopt me!:)

Quit playin:lachen:

For the big sis

I'm natural
Shoulder length unstretched brastrap stretched yep shrinkage is a b!tch

I would prefer someone natural, since I've lived and learned along the way

Someone who loves co washing

Someone who loves protective styles
Someone who loves deep conditioning

Massaging scalp nightly

Detangling once a week
And someone who follow my regime because I have proof it works lol

You would also need to purchase my suggested products you can't use any ole thing lol, I'm strict, so who wants a big sis with similar hair to me I'm available hit me up,:)

(I also need to update my fotki my hair is a few inches longer.. I'm bad at uploading the photos are sitting in the camera lazy me.)

I'm not sure if there are enough big sis' for those who are transitioning or are natural so I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring :p.

For the Big Sisters

Hair Type: 3c/4a
Relaxed / Natural: Natural
Anything you feel you are great at: Helping those who want a longer transition or want to transition in stages. Researching products. Dealing with haircare for those who have hard water. And most of all, I LOVE to be encouraging.
Ground rules you feel strongly about: I'm really into simple routines and consistent use of a few products that work. To me, growing hair shouldn't be stressful. I hope I can be helpful to someone. :)

Other info that might be of interest:
I have a strong background in nutrition (I will be starting my Master's degree and internship in it this Fall) and can give advice on vitamins and other general nutrition information that might aid hair growth.

ETA:
If there are not enough big sis' for naturals and transitioners I can take more than one. Also, I myself am big on asking questions when I need info. so whoever I get can feel free to ask me as many questions as they want. I want to be helpful if I can.

please adopt me!

For the Newbies:
Hair Type: 4b
Relaxed / Natural: relaxed
Starting Length: shoulder length
Hair Goal: BSL
Current Problems: some breakage, I stretched for 24 weeks and it grew but my stylist STILL overlapped and it seems like she gave me almost a virgin relaxer. I don't know what she did:eek: . Also, I don't have a good regimen. I switch products all the time. I need a better moisturizer.
Current Challenges: I have not updated anyone on any challenges. My camera broke. When I get paid on July 1st Im doing updates.
Anything you don't like to do: Im up for anything. I look busted with protective styles but I do them.

I need help on rollersetting, the whole airdrying thing, products, new protective styles, doing my own relaxer and trimming. Im tired of stylists messing up my hair!

Starting Length: Bottom of neck/ shortest layer at earlobe
Hair Goal: long term= Natural hair APL UNstretched
Current Challenges: None
Current Problems: Retaining length ( breakage ), hair shorter and less on one side, nutrition
Anything you don't like to do: I dont like to wear my hair loose while transitioning because when my hair is down i cant lay off the heat. However tieing my hair aka..protective styles is what causes my breakage. I'd like to stay away from braids..althought have considered micros or a weave while transitioning. Hair is too short for twist ( for my liking anyway..)

Newbies:

Hair Type: 4b and beyond
Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed

Starting Length: Between shoulder and apl (5mos post so I dont know for sure
Hair Goal: healthy, thick, waist or beyond length hair

Current Challenges: 6mos APL
Current Problems: Weak strands from years of being in micros and no moisture so retaining length is my number on problem. Dry and tangled NG

Anything you don't like to do: I dont wear my hair down during the week. I never use a blow dryer. I dont use heat (hair dryer only) but used it twice (birthday and a date:D ). I dont like weaves and no more extentions in my hair. I want someone who is strict and encouraging. Thanks in advice

For the Newbies

Hair Type:
fine/thin 4b (i believe)
Relaxed / Natural: attempting to transition from texlaxed to natural. last telxlax on feb. 15, 2007
Starting Length: shoulder-length with thin see-through ends
Hair Goal: thicker and healthy APL
Current Challenges: none
Current Problems: breakage and thinning at crown and nape, fighting the urge to relax
Anything you don't like to do: open to and welcome all suggestions

Hi Ladies,

I'm 3c/4a- (thin hair)
Natural
Shoulder
Mid Back
July-December APL challenge
Keeping health ends, finding products that truly work for my hair
I don't like wearing my hair natural (to much shrinkage)

I'm not really new but I would LOVE some help. I feel so overwhelmed when I read through trying to find hints and tips and good information. I would LOVE if my mentor lived in ATL! :D

Hair Type: 4b

Relaxed / Natural: Relaxed!

Starting Length: Just past shoulder

Hair Goal: Current Goal APL, final goal between APL and BSL

Current Challenges: Boundless Tresses, APL by '08

Current Problems:Keeping it moisturized, reducing breakage, promoting growth, retaining length.

Anything you don't like to do: I don't like protective styling (but I started doing it anyway) or time/product heavy routines. Being in my hair 2-3 days a week won't work for me. Less is so much more for me. I have cut down considerably on heat but I do enjoy going to the Dominican salon twice a month or so for a wash, deep condition, and set. It helps keep my hair on a good track, giving me results I can't achieve on my own, and I am not likely to stop going. To compensate, I rarely use heat at home but I do use a flat iron when I have to. I just really would like some guidance on better products to use more efficiently to achieve my goals.
