Upcoming upgrade 4-4/4-5

Not having an app can kill a site. I've visited a "mobile" forum site in the past and it is a horrible experience. I eventually just stopped visiting the site. Since I use a tablet or phone to read and post, I doubt I will stick around when my subscription is up.

My point exactly...I cant see it working well like this app. I love it.

Oh I read it. From my experience mobile compatible websites have subpar functionality compared to an app designed solely for the mobile device. That's why most, if not ALL, of your favorite consumer websites have apps available.

This app sucks though, and it's already been mentioned that the developers will not be fixing, debugging or upgrading the current app. This app logs you out, freezes, shuts down, blacks out when I upload more than 1 pic....I'd rather have a mobile site that works than a app that doesnt.

I have no idea what the user experience will be on this site, but check out the Curly Nikki mobile forum and you will experience pure hell. I'll take a buggy app any day over that useless mobile site. I hope this one is better. If not, it was good knowing you :-).

I'd eat my phone before I give CN a hit. So I'll have to take your word for it.
 
Ladies I think it will be ok! I'm on a few other forums and I use the mobile versions most times to access. If the mobile version of this forum is going to be improved, then there's a good chance that everything will be ok. My user experience with those other forums is great. :)
 
WOW I had no idea about this!

Ok well on the 4th I'm hanging with my college best friend.:grin: On the 5th I'll catch up on Dateline, 48 Hours, Fareed Zakaria while I do my laundry.
 
So what will happen to this app after the upgrade? Just curious? Will it just stop working? Or will it work but simply won't be "updated" to reflect the newest posts that occurred AFTER the upgrade?

I'm just trying to figure out if I should just delete this app from my phone now and free up some space on my device if this app is going to be non-functional. :look:
 
Folk love to complain and the upgrade hasn't even started yet?! :nono: When the site and app don't work people are mad, now it's being fixed and folk are mad?:spinning::drunk:

None of that has never happened to me Ever. The most thats happened is that server crap and that happens on the regular web too.
 
I wonder why the devs are just junking the app like this.

Too bad it can't be taken over by someone else. :scratchch

Leesh: consider yourself lucky. There's not a day that goes by that I don't have to restart the app because of its shenanigans. I just wish that the devs would update the freakin' thing. :nono:

Well being as tho theres several different people who grace this board, there will be different feelings about whats taking place.

I personally dont have issues with the app, at all. So some will want the upgrade, and some wont.

Couldn't agree more. When CN updated their forum and got rid of the app, the forum died. And last I checked is still pretty dead. That's how I got to paying for a subscription over here.

Guess we'll see. The app isn't the greatest but I'd take it over no app at all.

Yup!!!!

They have got to have the data on how people use this forum. What % use the app, mobile web browser, and desktop version of this site.

I never get on LHCF on my desktop/laptop. I only access it from the app. Getting people to change behavior is hard, and that why CN forum died

It's like they want this forum to go to crap, and maybe they aren't makin enough money to do things properly. Running private servers and dev time with this many people can get expensive. This site is not monetized well, and in comparison to many other forums, they should be making enough to keep the lights on so to speak.

For me I use the app like IG or Twitter on my iPhone. I would never log on to those sites thru safari on my phone. If they didn't have apps they wouldn't get used
 
This app discussion is interesting. I got rid of the app a long time ago because it just never worked right for me and it irked my life. I always access the forum from my mobile and it works the same just as if I was on my computer.

It's annoying because things can and must change and this is the same attitude that got the much needed upgrade reversed last time. If the app is not working for MOST people, then at least try the new optimized mobile version BEFORE complaining.
 
Hope it helps all the crashing when we watch tv shows live and chat here. If it helps that I don't care if there's an app or not.

It shouldn't be a huge inconvenience to go through your browser, no?

I agree the app sucks. I started despising it when I couldn't live watch The Walking Dead on the few Sunday's i had off. I have no idea how the ladies deal with it every Sunday. And uploading more than one pic I just gave up on.

I understand your stance. But you must understand the stance of people who are NOT having an issue with the app and don't want to go thru the mobile browser.

If it works well, I have no issues. My experience has not been pleasant so I will withhold judgement. I just love the functionality of a well performing app.

I hear you but why not embrace changes? The app developer already said he will no longer support the app. It makes no since going forward with the current app. Now I don't know how the admin and owner selected the new template over others. I just hope they did their homework.

I can see why people want an app. I never used the old one because I thought it was crappy. But I'm assuming it had push notification and all the bells and whistles apps come with. I can see people missing that. Otherwise, just create a short cut on your phone, it will look just like an app... (J/K... Not really)

Yeah I just hope they did their homework. There's some very well functioning mobile forums out there.
 
App needs to RIP asap...The whole nature of technology is that it changes all the time...looking forward to testing new upgrades:grin:

i totally agree. I also understand that if it doesn't work for most, it's better to come up with a solution rather than leave it broken.
