Any one remember how to use Ultra Sheen's Duo Tex protein conditioner? Is it anything like like DRC? It sure smells like it. Has anyone had good results using it and can you use it with heat? I could not find anything about it on the net, but I know that it is "old school".
TIA, YO

I used that for several years when I had relaxed & colored hair. I had never heard of it but my stylist recommended it to me after she colored my hair, kept it healthy and the color didn't fade so quick. I used it every week after shampooing and conditioning, I'd just slap it on & put on a shower cap, shave in the shower and then rinse it out. I don't use it anymore though, it started drying my hair out when I started transitioning, even after cutting back to using it every 4 weeks. I think the instructions were to leave it on for 10 - 15 mns. but I'm not sure.

I used it before, I'd use it after a wash not sure if w/ heator not, I never noticed anything spectacular with my hair so once the bottle was half gone, I gave it to a friend who tried it previously and loved it. I think if your hair is damaged as her hair was it will repair it and in turn the hair begans to look healthier and shiny, but in my case I guess I used it too often and never noticed a difference, so I would recommend once a month or after a realxer or color but it will burn like hell after relaxer same as aphogee would. I liked it more than the aphogee bcuz it wasn't as messy and sticky, more watery consistency and kind of lathers up so just pop a cap on and relas. Hopes this helps

I used french perm stabilizer and duo tex last night. This morning I had a little frizzness and slight shedding. Do you think this was overkill for ph/protein products?

I Will Be Purchasing this Protein Treatment at Some Point for Extra Added Protein. Based on it's reviews, this will definitely go into my Arensal of Products soon.:yep:

I use it weekly and sometimes twice a week mixed with aloe vera juice. It is always in rotation at my house. As well, when I was relaxed, the salon used this in my hair. I loved the way my hair turned out, so I started using it as when I first got to Atlanta for graduate school, I was doing my hair about four times a week (the climate here was so different than Chicago's) and I mean washing, blow drying, hot curling AND THIS WAS THE ONLY YEAR THAT MY HAIR RETAINED LENGTH when I was relaxed. About three years ago when I was thinking back on it, I realized that my hair retained alot of length that year (despite all the heat and manipulation) because I was giving myself a Duo Tex treatment everytime I did my hair -- which was alot.

I just used it last night...I normally use it after I relax but I break out every now and then for no particular reason. Definitely strengthens and provides a lot body to my hair. Good cheap stuff!

I wanna start using something stronger than 2min weekly cause I still receive a little breakage.

...goes to pull out the DuoTex from the stash since I had the NERVE to run out of Joico K-Pak ...

I used it over the weekend as an overnight mixed with aloe vera juice. I flat-ironed on Thursday, so I felt I really needed some protein after the heat from the Maxi-glide. When I was in graduate school I also used it as an overnight although the instructions say to leave on three minutes. I have said this in every Duo Tex thread since I started posting three years ago: When I was using Duo Tex regularly in graduate school, that was the only year I retained length as a relaxed head.

I bought it from Sallys and it sat in the closet for a few months and I returned it. I may get it again once I run out of 2 min. I hate having multiple things that do the same thing for my hair. I wont be getting 2 min Aphogee again thought cause thats not strong enough for me, my hair doesnt act any different.

This is me to the T. But I just can't shake that maybe-the-grass-is-greener-syndrome when it comes to hair products hence the reason for having multiple items that's intended for the same purpose.

I should have the mindset of if-it-ain't-broke-don't-mess-with-it...Dudley DRC 28 works just fine for me.

BUT

I'm going to have a closer look-see at this Ultra Sheen stuff :look:
