Trim/dust/cut Check In

I'm doing another search and destroy tomorrow on a lengthening day. I'm really tempted to do it today, but I'm afraid it might stunt my growth.

I originally planned to trim during the Summer Solstice 6/20 (thicken), but I'm moving that day.

I will trim next week on a lengthening day 6/15. The back is super healthy and still fairly blunt. I can do 1/4 inch in the back. The front needs anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1 inch taken off at least.

How do these cycles work? Is it a form of energy? Do you see growth spurts around these cycles too?

You can trim at different times to achieve specific results. For example: you can lengthen on 1 day, thicken on another, strengthen your roots, beautify or shock your growth cycle. If you are planning to trim, it doesn't hurt to do it on a beneficial day. The Morrocco Method is based on the moon.

I trim quarterly, so I make it a point to plan my trims around the moon. I'm hoping for the best growth spurt yet!

There was a big full moon last night. I was wondering how everything worked! Thank you!

I've never been a big trimmer. I never really had to be unless I was doing something that was damaging to my strands like using heat often. Even when I use to go to the salon once a wk they rarely if ever trimmed my hair and when they did they took off barely nothing so I never really got into the habit of trimming but I want to start now.

I bought a brand new pair of shears (equinox brand which I LOVE!!!!) and did my first trim today. My ends were in really good condition so I didn't take off much. There were no single strand knots or splits so I just took off the scraggly ends or as some call it lead hairs. I do want to thicken my ends but if I took off where my twists start thinning out I would have cut like 3-4 inches which wasn't happening.

I fig I will do as I did this time and cut around 1/4-1/2 inch every 4-6 months until my ends are the thickness of the roots. From there I will continue to trim as needed. Since I'm natural and don't intend to straighten any time soon if ever I will trim in twists.

I trimmed my ends today, cutting 1/2 to 1 inch. My ends looked pretty good for a 7 month stretch. The left side had more splits than the right, so I'll be more gentle with that side from now on.

My first and last self trim was last weekend
I probably took off a 1/4-1-2 an inch. I'm trying to grow my hair out
I think I did a pretty ok job for a non-professional

My next trim is not scheduled. It'll be if and when my ends feel rough. I'm just starting my serious hair care regimen so hopefully it won't be until the Rostand future. Like next year!!!!

Pretty hair!

I'm setting and straightening this weekend. I hope to dust/trim tomorrow if I'm not too wore out by then. I won't know what my ends look like until I straighten but I hope I can get by with 1/2" until December. I have been doing search and destroys instead of just letting splits sit. I hope that has made a difference.

I flat ironed and my ends look decent. :yay: I do need to dust but my splits are just on the ends like they should be.

I should be able to get away with just taking off 1/4" to 1/2".

I will keep on doing the search and destroys and just do what I have been doing for my hair since April. My ends still need some work but they are 100 times better than they were last year this time.

I finally trimmed tonight. I took off between 1/4" to 1/2". My ends are better in the front and sides. The back needed a little more. I would rather take it off now than have more splits in the upcoming months. My consistent dusting has really allowed me to see improvements in my ends over the course of this year. My ends used to split within 3 weeks of my dusting and I would have to dust every 8 weeks. Now I can make it 4 months and they are so much better. This should lead to less breakage.

I trimmed this week. I didn't need to, but whatever. I plan on not trimming until my next relaxer in Oct.
I bought Mane Choice split end treatment and serum. I really love it so far. Hopefully this will keep my ends nice and smooth!
