I've tried it too but can't find the right combination conditioner to use yet. Like I tried the Knot today, cantu, the herbal essence, the kbb hair milk, the garnier stuff, the aussie moist and so on but my hair feels like straw with it. Maybe I'm having a reaction to something else like over protein or the weather changing drastically. I will try it again in the spring but I hope she bottles it and sells it, I would love to try one that I don't have to mix, getting costly for me.

Oh and for some odd reason mine doesn't last longer than a week in the fridge before it spoils. Guess I'm not good at the mixing game, lol

Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your mix. Tea tree oil will act as a preservative.

I went to Whole Foods and couldn't find the Lilly of the Desert Whole Leaf Aleo Juice that she had in her video. All they had was the Lily of the Desert Inner Fillet Aloe Vera Juice so I purchaced that one. Do you guys think it will still work the same between the difference with the whole leaf vs. the inner fillet?

Alot of people were asking her in the comments section, but of course she never answered. :ohwell:

I have kept my leave-in in the fridge up to 7 days with no ill effects. I put it in the back of the fridge which is the coolest place.

Eta- I also try not to get water in it when i use it, i dry my hands after i apply to every section and that helps with bacteria.

In one video, she does address it. She says she isn't sure b/c she never used the other one, but it may work the same since you aren't ingesting it for nutritional value.

Any relax ladies using this? Is it too wet for relax hair?

I use it and I'm relaxed. Its not too wet. It is a staple for me especially during my stretch period. After I started using it I notice I didn't have to moisturize and seal daily. I could go up to 3 days w/o moisturizing.

I use a bottle of Giovanni direct leave-in I had laying around the house for ages in my mix. The last batch I made I had to go out and buy some more Giovanni. I notice it didn't quite come out as well as the other batches. When I compared the two bottles of Giovanni, I noticed one was made with the old formula (w/o aloe) and the other with new formula (w/ aloe) :ohwell: I'm going to do some tweaking with the batch tonight to see if I can get it like the previous batches.

I guess I am the only naysayer...I used it while twisting my and they looked old (bushy) a lot sooner. However, my hair was very soft and moisturized. Maybe it has something to do with the porosity of my hair. I actually like the Bear Fruit Hair Cherry Bark Banana Cream Leave-in Moisturizer (whoa, that's a mouthful), it was $7 and I did not have to add anything and it's ph balanced.

Where can I get this? Sounds yummy!

I use the mixture with either giovanni direct or kbb hair milk. I don't use it on my whole head though; I use it mostly on my ends.

I'm transitioning my best friend and I use it on the length of her hair. I really like it on her hair. My hair not so much. But since I make enough to fill an 8oz bottle I figure I might as well use it, lol.

you don't have to use lily of the desert. i got the 365 brand one. she uses both in the video and says either is fine. (365 was cheaper anyway.)

not directed towards you, but i see that a lot of people are really caught up on the brand of the products she used when it is not important. i kinda agree with kim on this point: if you have something else you want to try, use it and see if it works. then again, i'm a passive, low-stress person.

I've tried Kimmay's leave in and I was very impressed. It left my hair super soft and moisturized. I used all ingredients she listed. I use this for my WNG and goodness........this leave in leaves my 4b coils bouncy and soft.

I feel like my hair is extremely conditioned after using this leave in. I can feel the softness 2-3 days after use which is a plus since my hair is naturally DRY!!!!

I really love it. I haven't found another stand alone natural product that can do what this leave in does. I have a Hairveda shipment on its way so I'll see........

try cutting the oil in half, or at least the castor oil....i have fine hair too, and when i did this on accident it turned out to be my best batch yet.

i have been using this since july and i love it. like others have said, i have used other leave-ins and different oils and still have great results. i too realized it is mostly the AV juice that makes the difference. i have used GDLI and alaffia beautiful curls leave-in, since they were cheaper than KCKT and i still wanted an all-natural base. i will try my TJ nourish spa at some point, and maybe this yes to tomatoes conditioner. as far as oils, i usually use cold-pressed castor oil and jojoba, but i am out of jojoba oil right now so i substitute it with one of the billions of other oils i have. right now my mix is alaffia, AV juice, castor oil and sweet almond oil. i also have avocado oil, grapeseed oil, palm oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, palm kernel oil, and of course EVOO.

IMO, it is definitely a keeper leave-in. i've seen a couple of people say that it's not really that innovative, and a lot of conditioners/leave-ins have AV juice in them, and anything pH balanced will work :blah: but she struck gold when she made a youtube video introducing this concept to her viewers/subscribers.

Thanks for this! I didnt think of modifying it like that. Im glad a fellow fine haired lady found a solution, cuz the aloe in it is the business! I just needed a "lighter" formula

I was in the Vitamin Shoppe today and saw tons of whole leaf bottles. If you decide that you want to try the whole leaf version and still can't find it at the Whole Foods store, check at the Vitamin Shoppe.

I was so happy to see it. Winter is coming so I need to stop using glycerin-based products. Plus, I need another leave-in to add to my stash anyway.

I don't want to hijack the post with another product; I really like Kim's progress.

You can find it at bearfruithair.com (it works for me)

I really like Kimmay's formulation. From the start I used Giovanni Direct Leave-in as my base. To me it came out too runny. So I thickened it with Suave Coconut. This was a better mix and I loved how it kept my hair moisturized. My latest base consists of Suave Shea Almond Conditioner aloe vera juice, castor oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E (for preservation) and some peppermint essential oil cause I like the smell. It works wonderfully. I always knew that there was a reason I bought so much aloe vera juice a bit ago. Now I add it to quite a few of my products.

Ladies this mixture is not new, I have been using it since 2008 when I was on my Natural journey. I found the recipe on Motowngirl.com (her new site is below, I got this recipe from her old site that she brought over). I no longer use it but I still use it for my daughter who is natural. I use Aloe vera gel or juice because I feel it works better for her hair when in braids and I add 2 T of wheat germ oil. I make a large batch so it will last a while. I put it in a 24 oz spray container that I purchased from Ricky's.

The mixture that I reformulated is below:
1 cup conditioner, usually Wholefoods brand
a little less than 1 cup distilled water
1/2 cup aloe vera juice or gel
2 T wheat germ oil

I have NEVER refridgerated my mixture in the entire 2 + years that I have put it together, the majority of the time it sits in the bathroom for her to use it before wrapping her hair up at night. I sometimes add vit e capsules when I have them. If I remember I also add 2 t wheat protein and silk amino acids (I recently started doing this).

So I put it in my hair the other day after a wash. I don't think I like it. My hair is hard and kinda crunchy. Anything with aloe kinda does that to me. :ohwell: Plus I also ran out of my beloved Qhemet AOHC. I think maybe if I would have moisturized with that after it would have made more of a difference. Idk. I used Giovanni Direct Leave In as my base. Which probably wasn't a good idea because that is pitting more Aloe into the mix which my hair hates. I wonder if I could replace the aloe juice with something else.

Co-signing with the other ladies. My hair STAYED moisturized! I'll actually be using it today. Yay! As far as SSK's...I've noticed fewer since I've been using it a couple months. The real test will be after I get my trim this week coming.

As long as it is whole leaf aloe juice, name brands don't matter. I think the ingredients are most important.

Just watched the youtube video today. I might give it a try. Im still tryin to figure oit what im going to use as my base. Maybe NTM.

It has made my hair keep moisture.I normally would wash my hair and on 2nd day it would be dry as a straw now my hair will hold for at least 3-4 days without adding any leave in or anything.I wish I could afford to use knot today soley for my leave in but I reserve it for the concoction..I only wonder what whole leaf will do since I accidently got inner leaf aloe vera

Whoa? all positive results! I used to add aloe juice to my spritz but I guess since it wasn't measured, there wasn't really that much smoothing. I will get the whole leaf gel instead of the juice STAT! I also will not be using jojoba cause it was nothing special by itself and hella expensive.
HAS ANYONE TRIED IT INNER FILET (I HAVE THE CHEAP STUFF FROM WALMART.) AND THEN LATER TRIED THE WHOLE LEAF?

I am loving the Kimmay Tube conditioner mix I made. Since I'm cheap, I used Suave Strawberries n cream for my creamy base, a no frills brand of whole aloe leaf juice, jojoba and castor oil. Not only did my hair love this mix, but my twists actually held in place. I am only 3 months post relaxer and I needed to use gel to make the twists hold. I am so happy I found this mix. Kimmay Tube rocks!:yep: I just detangled my hair with my fingers. I am so excited at how good my hair looks. I'm learning so many good things about hair care. Usually my hair is tangled bad, but my hair is letting me style it so easy.:cloud9:

Let us know how that goes. I tried it just like that and my hair was greasy! I'm thinking since the leave in mixture is supposed to seal the cuticles it caused the AOHC to sit on top of my hair. Either way it was a hot greasy mess. I'm thinking maybe I should use the AOHC first then the leave in.

Her recipe doesn't have aloe vera in it. Where did you get the idea to add aloe vera to yours?

I just tried the Kimmay recipe but altered my leave-in and use just half the amt of oils due to my hair being fine and relaxed, I didn't want it weighed down. It works pretty good...I had also been using ApHogee ProVitamin Leave in and had the same results.
I like the kimmay recipe as it has a more natural approach.

Gadget diva I agree! I used BioInfusion leave in as a base and did not use the castor oil at all, just a little coconut oil. My ends do look freshly trimmed. I believe the aloe vera juice sealed them well.

I finally got a hold of the Knot Today locally, so I'm looking forward to trying out Kimmay's recipe with no substitutes. I've used 2 different conditioners as a base and I want to see if there is a big difference with the Knot Today Leave In.
