I got this from an archived thread:D What are your top three tips from the LHCF that worked for you this year?!

1. Setting with water, leave in and serum
2. Conditioning with protein before I wash
3. Wrapping starting from the back of my hair instead of starting from the side

How about you guys???

1) Sealing in water-based moisture with protein
2) Protecting those ends by wearing updo's/buns
3) Adding olive oil, eggs, honey, mayo and other household/food products to my conditioner

My tops three tips are:

1. Don't comb air dried hair
2. Learning how to stretch my relaxers with less breakage
3. Tips on how to dust/trim ( best thing I could of done for myself :) )

Great Thread.

Top 3 Tips that work for Ashley:
1. Pre-Shampoo with a protein conditioner and EVOO
2. Keep heat to a BARE minimum
3. Stretch my relaxers to 2+ months instead of every 6 weeks

The top 3 tips for me are tips that have been mentioned before this year, but I just started to incorporate the tips into my hair routine:

1. Wash infrequently for stronger hair that retains more length (I'll be washing at least once a month)
2. All my hair needs is shampoo, conditioner, and oil. Less products is best for my hair.
3. Leave hair alone as much as possible...gotta treat it like silk (the only manipulation I do now is whenever I wash and whenever I put my hair in twists, and I've cut back on combing my hair only when I detangle)

:)

Lookin good TSU:D Lovin the new pics:grin: Im gonna try your shea butter technique next time I set!

:D :D :D Just try not to overdo it on the Shea Butter because it could come out feeling a bit greasy. Just a tad bit rubbed between your fingers would do just fine. I hope it works for you as it does for me.

Macherieamour, how do you wrap from the back of your hair. Please post pics to show how this is done if you have some. Thanks.

1) I think I've perfected stretching my relaxers by braiding/weaving when I have a lot of new growth.

2) Water provides moisture not oil...but you do need to seal with oil.

3) Moisturizing daily (especially when in braids) is making all the difference in retaining length. I've known this for a while...but it really stuck this year.

Can I cheat with a fourth...

4) Hiding my hair (not wearing it down daily) has made a HUGE difference!

1. Cold water rinsing--this is a holy grail..and it's free!
2. K.I.S.S. --Less is def. more
3. Moisture vs. Protein balance (thanks Sistaslick:notworthy )

1. No Heat
2. Stretch Relaxers -- I went from every 6 to 12 weeks
3. Less IS More -- limit combing; don't ever bush; basically, leave alone once clean & moisturized

OT: Poohbear, your hair is da BOMB!

1. Concentrate on scalp mainly when you shampoo.
2. Protective styling helps retain the length you get.
3. Seal moisture with oil!

Here are my three:

1. Stretching my relaxers to at least 11 weeks (Naps can be my friend)
2. CO washes have saved me since i joined in 04'
3. Wearing my hair up at least 90% of the time to help with breakage

1 - K.I.S.S. - Less is More and Less means Swang :D
2 - Buns are Hot!!!
3 - Dont stretch past your limit...

Now Im HOPING I can acheive a rollerset sometime this doggone year :)

well after my hard water drama this week:

  • ONLY WASH UR HAIR in the water that is the best quality (filtered shower water) unfiltered will turn ur hair into straw!
  • scrunch oil into hair after applying oil moisturizer
  • shampoo every 2 weeks, co wash once per week....

Lets see....

1. There's no need to put oil and stuff on your scalp, drink more water and take flax-seed

2. Use less heat.

3. Wash less. for less manipulation. (Unless I'm working out.)

Less is more!

Here are my all-time favs!

1. DO NOT comb hair
2. Moisturize and Seal (AM & PM)
3. Stretching my Relaxer

That's my K.I.S.S method!

Ummm yeah it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girl it looks great!!!!!!!!!!!

1: sealing in moisture with an oil-based product
2: using buns to protect my ends
3: pre-shampoo treatments

:)

I've gotta add a 4th: only combing my hair on shampoo/conditioner wash days....

  1. Conditioning (Protein or Moisture) on dry hair
  2. Doing wet assessments to see if I need more protein or moisture
  3. Shampooing with one lather is all you need

1) Stretching a relaxer can be done
2) Sealing with oil
3) Keep heat styling to a minimum

2 came from you really..

1.Putting Keracare leave in and jojoba moisturizer on wet hair.
2. Pre-pooing with the ORS or whatever protein on dry hair.
3. Using a small tint brush for applying the relaxer (I forgot who recommended this)

Extra...
4. After reading Supergirls processing time for a relaxer I decided it was okay to process a little longer. I'm happy about my results now.

I also use a tint brush for relaxer applications (I've been doing this for years). It makes doing touch-ups so easy!

Three is not enough:)

1. Low/no heat. Really works.
2. Searching for what products work for MY hair.
3. Reduced manipulation. I feel so wicked going out with uncombed hair but no one knows but me:lol:
