This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

thought about getting a shampoo bowl installed at your house? I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. That would be ideal. Hair going in the right direction. No strain on your neck, back, etc.

Am I crazy or has anyone else had these thoughts? Confess it.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I've never thought about that, but it sounds like fun almost...and romantic if you get your other to wash your hair

I say, if you can afford it, go for it. Treat it as another shopping adventure that you know that you have enough splurging money for.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

No, I've never thought of that. Besides, there would be no one to shampoo my hair (because I live with my two cats).

Shampooing my hair in the shower is what works best for my hair. I love it. It keeps the tangles in check and keeps it easy for me to detangle the few that are there.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I think that doing it in the shower is even better than a shampoo bowl. In the shower, the hair stays in the direction (hanging straight down)that you need it to be so there's no big hassle with the comb out or anything.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

That would be tight, especially if you had a whole room in your house set up as a salon (bowl, hooded dryer, etc). I saw something like that on MTV Cribs, Mariah Carey had a mini salon in her basement (she has a triplex in NY).

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

My girlfriend is a beautician...her husband wanted her to work out of the home when she got pregnant (I could just kiss him)...he built her a one chair salon on the side of their house...

She has a sink...that has a flat counter that goes over top of it...so when she is ready to rinse/wash the clients hair...she lifts the counter and the sink is underneath...the client can then lean back in the chair...and have their hair rinsed like at a regular salon...

I would love that...however the purpose of a shampoo bowl is to make it convenient for the stylist...comfortable for the customer...but if you are doing your own hair...how can you reach back and rinse your hair...if you are on your back?

Right now it seems like the shower is easiest...but heck...if you develope a more comfortable system...and need to patton it...you might need an agent...CALL ME!

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I forgot to add. I DO NOT think you're crazy for this idea. One of my brothers has a sister-in-law that's a hair stylist. She does hair out of her home. She has the salon set up and all. It looks great. So, a room dedicated to hair would be a cool addition to one's home.

See, if I had waist length hair, I don't know if I would even consider it. Where would all my hair go? Hmmmm, now that I think about it, when I washed my hair in the kitchen sink (noooo, I don't do that anymore), I had to keep it from getting caught in the strainer. That was no fun.

But I would also do it for my daughters. They're 4 and 14 (almost 15) and I wash the 4-year-old's hair in her shower and I deep condition it so she has to get back in the shower, etc. I do NOT enjoy getting soaked when I do her hair. Short of getting in there with her and doing it, I don't see any other alternative. I don't like for her to be sitting in a tub full of dirty water - she seems to enjoy having sand poured in her hair on a daily basis (thank goodness it's been too cold the last couple of days for them to go outside).

And I was thinking about putting it in my bathroom where my garden tub is since I don't use it that often - I'm always in the shower. Then I would enclose that area with some pretty drapes which I was thinking about doing anyway. I can also do my relaxers and have my hubby rinse it out and not worry about tangling my hair up over the sink or getting the product on me in the shower. And I'm sure that my 4-year-old would love to wash my hair.

I think I'm going to look into it.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I've never thought of having a shampoo bowl installed because I love rinsing in the shower too much. I can handle my hair better and keep it straight and virtually tangle-free by rinsing in the shower.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have

YES!!! Just last night when -- thanks to you GMMP my b/f installed a shower filter. We are buying a house later in the year and I told him the entire basement will be dedicated to my passion. I already do my mom's hair and my cousin's. I am also running out of room in our apartment for all my products. He complains a bit but he totally encourages my PJism. For Christmas one of my presents was a huge bag of all the stuff I use!!! Imagine my surprise when I needed help lifting my gift from under the tree. He claims he had a method, the stuff I use the most I got six of like mango butter and Ensure and the stuff I use the least like Emergencee I got only one. He was pretty much on point and made me fall in love all over again. Knowing him he'll have a shampoo sink installed as a surprise when we move.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

You see this is why I love this board bcus people can relate to my hair fantasies I've thought of getting a shampoo chair too!

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

No, I haven't thought about having a shampoo bowl installed. My hairdresser had a salon installed in her basement. She has the shampoo bowl, the swivel chairs, and everything else she needs. It's very professional. That's why I love going to her salon because it's not like going to a typical hair salon. She gets me in and out of there fast and she has a very flexible schedule.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I don't think thats for me, but if it works for you, go for it. I'm a shower type of girl, but a bowl may work for some!

That is now one of the goals I've sat for myself, to have a mini salon in my home one day. Dont know when or how, I just know that I will. Glad to know that I'm not the only one thinking like this.

That was soooooo thoughtful of him. And is he going to wash your hair?

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

Me too!! I even went so far as to look up items like a bowl, dryer and chairs online. I don't know when or how either but it is not impossible

Like the others said, it does make sense if you have someone helping you rinse or if you do other people's hair

. Or if your just addicted to caring for hair

I have definitely thought about this. Until I do it though, I will continue to use the shower!

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have

Debyjay, that was sweet what you boyfriend did.

Having a shampoo bowl is definitely not a crazy idea. I too thought about getting one and the ideas you guys have about having a salon space sounds great. I remember when I was younger my uncle rented an apartment to this lady and she had her own little mini salon up there so that she could take care of her clients. My cousin is a beautician but that is not her only job, so he is always trying to get her to make the basement into her own salon so it can be more convenient for her and her clients.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have

Debyjay you have an angel for a husband. I think I'll show your post to my hubby! I too have considered building myself a mini salon but I figured I wouldn't have anyone to wash my hair for me in the bowl and what would be the point of having an adjustable chair when I the one who will be doing my hair. My latest idea was to have my own bathroom with its own water heater for long shampooing sessions in the shower. See, I know I'm obsessed but whatever!

I should have never read this. My future home will probably have a mini salon room set up before I even think about the rest of the house, lol.
The shampoo bowl thing would be very cool.

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have you

I've thought about it and told my finace that when we buy a house I want one installed. I can wash his hair, he can wash mine, and when we have kids I can do theirs

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have

I've thought about the shampoo bowl and the hair dryer chair, too!

Re: This may be crazy, BUT I\'ll ask anyway. Have

Personally, I prefer the shower for detangling and it just feels good. It is an interesting idea though, like a luxury item.
