In the January pic my hair was natural, I got it pressed for a concert. My ends were split, my hair had a burnt smell, and it was the thinnest I had ever seen. That's when I joined this challenge. I lived on LHCF and fell in love with castor oil. I used JBCO on my scalp every night. I used regular castor oil on my ends and wore my hair in a protective style 100% of the time. I also deep conditioned every week. In April, I relaxed my hair and it was the healthiest ever. Healthy meaning my stylist only cut 1/2 inch off my hair even though it has been a year since my last trim, she even commented on my thickness, and no breakage just shedding. Me so happy!!

Good lookin"! @ candie19

Did you use the smokey bbq kind of castor oil or the clear one?

I can't deal with the scent! It gives me bad flashbacks of my childhood:look: lol

Hey Y'all:)

I hope all is well. I've been sticking to my thickening regimen and seen a some results this past Relaxer(Texlax) Day.

The first picture is my hair prior to starting my Thickening regimen. The second is after implementing my regimen regularly. Both were taken of hair that was partly air dried (still damp in come places). I'm really happy to see that the overall density of my hair is increasing. However, I would be lying if I said my actual hair strands were any thicker. Its my own fault though. I havent taken my Gelatin Tablets in a whileeeee. I will def. being using them regularly from here on out (at least I hope )

your hair looks great! EnExitStageLeft! I don't believe you have fine hair :look: Progress is progress though:yay:

I totally stopped taking care of my hair. I have lost my passion a bit. This transition just makes me not want to deal with it. i think I will try bunning for a while. I have been co washing my hair 2-3x a week letting it airdry with nothing overnight and sticking it into a bun the next day. So far it seems to be alleviating the matting problem i would have when i did wet buns. when I do a length check in june I will see how things have gotten.

I am also trying a growth aid. I usually don't believe they work but I am so ready to cut I want my NG to get longer a bit faster. right now I am just trying it out to see if it works. i think that will be my next experiment.

@Napp

Girl my density is ok, its these strands I can't stand. They're super duper baby fine, I just have alot of them lol.

Please don't give up on your hair. Your blog gives me life :yep:. I love reading about your Keratin conquest, but I understand where you're coming from though. I sometimes dread wash day and it take me forever to finish because I dragging my feet doing it. I guess it comes with the "Hair Journey" territory.

Also, if you don't mind me asking...What growth aid are you trying out?

Napp

I need this challenge sooooo bad. I am transitioning and having a hard time living my hair, especially the stringy relaxed ends. I am 5 months into my transition and want to cut really bad but I know I need more length. I am not completely sold on wearing a TWA although the warmer months are coming and it could be fun, but I'm just not completely sold. Here's my info:

Regimen

I plan to reduce shedding by:
Start back on my daily garlic pills and weekly tea rinse

I plan to reduce breakage by:
Only combing in the shower
Wearing cellies under wigs

I plan to thicken my strands by:
I purchased the Shea yucca and boabam. Only used it once but I don't think I used it correctly. I will try it again soon
JBCO with ylang ylang on ends and scalp
Adding cerimides to my Shea mix

The only way to keep from cutting my hair is to put it away. So, I will attempt to hide my hair...from myself...

I would like to join! I'm gaining length, which I'm excited about! But I want the thickness I once had in high school!

I plan to reduce shedding by:
Trying to tea rinses (alternate between this and Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor)

I plan to reduce breakage by:
Less heat
Less manipulation ( I plan on keeping braids/twists for the next 4 months)
Using Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor 1-2 times a month

I plan to thicken my strands by:
Pre-pooing with castor oil more
Monthly medium-hard protein treatment
As I get deep into my relaxer stretches, which to my castor/grapeseed/jojoba oil mix to seal

I'm good with my water intake (3-5 bottles daily)
I'm getting back into my exercise regimen (3-4 times weekly)
I take a multi-vitamin , gelatin, iron, folic, biotin, and hair/skin/nail vitamins

I need to join this challenge as well. I'm too focused on length and I need to refocus on the health of my hair. I want my ultra thick hair I had before I entered my twenties and fell in love with my flat iron.

I plan on reducing breakage by:
Moisturizing and sealing twice a day
Deep conditioning once a week
Cowashing once a week
Hard protein monthly
Minimizing heat..no more than once a month

I plan on thickening my strands by:
Castor oil mix pre poo weekly
Adding castor oil to my sealing mix
Clipping my ends every 8 weeks for a fuller look

Multivitamin daily..that's the only supplement I can commit to, lol. I'm trying to eat better and incorporate more water and green smoothies in my diet. I'm also keeping a better track on what I do to my hair with a hair diary

I forgot about this challenge! I have been using my thickening products though. My hair feels uber thick now that I let go of my raggedy ends

Bumping how is everyone doing? I've been wash n going everyday and using my hair thickening conditioner. I really like how full my hair looks

My hair has thicken up since I started stretching my relaxers, also incorporating more protein.
Ceramides are also in my arsenal.
I really hope I gained so more thickness after my current stretch.

Napp what thickening conditioner are you using and if your using a shampoo what shampoo as well.. thanks in advance

I am currently using puritan pride natural panthenol thickening conditioner. (right now its tempoarily discontinued) the shampoo i use is novex vitay argan oil shampoo but it is just a regular moisturising shampoo. Hth

I got my hair cut and I've changed my regimen to where I'm using more quality protein to help strengthen my hair as well as decrease shedding. I still need to increase my water and vitamin intake and eat more fruits and veggies. Stretching 10-12 weeks max is better than stretching any longer for me. I need to invest in a hooded dryer, a better quality hair dryer and flat iron because my hair thrives better when it's straight. Any suggestions for these items?

Hello. Id like to join.
My hair looks very thick and dense when its down but when u braid it u can see yhe truth as I will post a pic below.

Im doing a moisture regimen shampooing with an all natural moisturizing shampoo and a professional dc. I'm also doing scalp massages with jbco and tea tree oil every 2-3 days.

Here's my hair's density

I want to consistently apply castor oil to my scalp but I feel it's too thick to use it for anything other than a pre poo or mix with my conditioners.

Mix it with Jojoba and Peppermint oil. It'll help boost your growth and help the castor oil be a little less viscous.

HTH's

Ive been pretty consistent with my castor/tea tree oil mix scalp massages. Too soon to b able to c a difference but ive been consistent

i think my regimen is going well. as you can see in my siggy my hair is very full looking.

i did use some heat recently though but i dont think it will effect my overall thickening. my hair is pretty much where i want it ot be at this point. i wish it was just stronger

BUMP BUMP BUMP! :wiggle:

I went on this whole retention thing and kind of got away from my thickening regimen. Now I'm back with a cohension of thickening and retaining awesomeness. How are you guys @ @Jewell, @Napp, @Trixie58, @Saludable84, @Killahkurlz, @Hyacinthe and the rest of the challengers :)!

Well I haven't been bothered with retention; if it happens, it happens. I was more worried about thicker hair. Lately, Ive been leaving in my DC's for longer times and using protein more consistently. That is helping wonders. Air drying as per RHT advice works for me too, but I think I wanna quit this B**** and find my rollers again. Im not used to this full effect.

Utilized ALOT of Thickening products this wash....

Used a cleansing conditioner rich with Panthenol (NG Herbal Cleansing Conditioner)
Used a Black Ceylon/Red Rooibus Tea Mix under my DC.
Added Castor oil to my DC
Used a panthenol rich liquid leave in (SSI Moisture Mist)
Used a castor rich oil to seal my leave in's in (Claudies Montego Bay Oil)

Will be oiling my scalp tomorrow with my new Kreyol Essence 100% Haitian Pomade

Hey girlie! I am okay. Still working trying to grow out my broken areas. I have been braided, mostly weaving it up, and for the last two weeks I've actually been wigging it. Today I will unbraid though and straighten because I have a date tomorrow and I can no longer afford to weave it up.
What do you think...I'm 10 weeks post. Should I relax it or just go and get it blown out?
I'm a little above shoulder length at this point.
I am so glad your hair is thickening :)

Trixie58

If you think you can't stretch any longer, go ahead and relax. If you feel you can go a while longer I say just get the blow out. I'm stretching for the first time in a while (been keeping it to 11-13 weeks) to 18-20 weeks post. I haven't really decided yet.
