Taren gets Heat Damage!!!

Oh noooo :( I hope she can find some treatment/ series of treatments that will bring it back. I hope she doesn't have to cut. :nono:

Yeah, saw the video. Bummer. Hopefully she won't have to BC. That's actually the only thing deterring me from straightening this winter or ever. :look: I'm terrified of losing my kinks/coils and having to "transition" all over again.

It's still pretty but I notice she does love the hell out of that diffuser. I only straighten twice a year (once this year) because I noticed a lot of damage a few years ago. I did trim my ends a few times but I basically wore it up and babied it all the time. My hair is curlier than before after all that babying.

With her hairtype, I do think that as your hair grows down, it does loosen. I noticed that about my hair even before the heat damage.

I wish her luck in whatever she decides.

Still looks goods to me. I say leave it and slowly trim as it grows out

She's fine. She was almost able to get all her texture back. :yep: I'm glad it all worked out for her because her hair is really gorgeous.:spinning:

Was she straightening her own hair?? Or was she going to a stylist??

Her hair doesn't look damaged beyond repair I think she'll be ok

I think cutting is kind of drastic, unless its so damaged its breaking off.

I agree. People hang on to relaxed strands for years and call it transitioning but a few straight ends from heat and you have to chop?? I don't see the point. Nine times out of ten they will either revert eventually or if they don't you won't notice them if you stop looking at your hair in camera closeups everyday.

I was wondering if this was going to happen when I saw her straighten her hair. She blow dried, flat ironed, and then used a curling iron to create her "Kim Kardashian look." :nono: I was thinking she should've rollerset it! The girl needs to learn how to rollerset.

Also, it doesn't seem like she deep conditions often enough.

You can definitely tell the difference in her hair compared to her older videos. I don't think she needs to cut more than an inch or two. Her hair still looks pretty.

Oh no! hope she can save it without cutting, i think her hair is beautiful. If she does not straighten for a good while maybe it'll be ok?

I'm not buying her reason for heat damage  BUT her hair is still very beautiful and she is absolutely gorgeous. Her hair looked dry. Was that a wash n go? I don't think she needs to cut, seems way too drastic. She should baby that hair for a few months then see what her progress is.

in my experience...heat damaged curls dont come back, no matter what type of conditioning, prayer or rain dances you do. so you can either deal with it or cut it off.

personally i know how my curls bounce and sproing and fall so if they got mangled im snipping them. but THAT'S why i dont like flat ironing so much! and i only do it myself cause i know just how much heat my hair can take.

I think her hair still looks nice. Heat damage is part of the risk. I would not cut unless it were breaking off. I think it's great that she is sharing the video bcuz a lot of folks use heat all the time and have nice hair that is obviously heat damaged (trained) and blow it off giving folks false hopes. Unfortunately, you can't have it all.

You ain't never lied! When I decide to wear my hair straightened out or curled it will be with flexi rods or rollers and no heat. And with her hair texture it shouldn't be that hard to do anyway because it isn't super kinky/nappy/tightly coiled like mine......It may not be as super straight but it sure does beat the risk of heat damage anyday....

I'm not a subscriber of her channel, but I feels so bad for her. She has such gorgeous hair that is admired by so many. This setback must be especially difficult for her.

Does anyone know how often she uses heat?

Wow, comparing her hair in April 2010 an December 2010, big difference. Her hair in April was gorgeous. I mean my eyes widened when I saw it. What on earth happened? So this was caused by the flat iron, blow dryer? What?

@Lovelylocs, ok I just read your post. So straightening her hair this way was something she did often I imagine because her hair now looks like a shadow of what it was in April. I feel so bad for her.

She seems really upset about it--I was too! I had heat damage and cut my hair in March of 2010 which is why my hair is just reaching shoulder length even though I have been natural since January 2008.

It didn't come back for me and the looked like I was transitioning. Some of my hair was natural and then other parts were scraggly. I am not saying she needs to cut her hair off but I didn't think mine would revert.

I am glad I got my hair cut because not its starting to flourish.

Wow, so she had heat damage in April of this year, worked to fix it and then went right back to what caused the heat damage the first time?:nono:
