STRECHING AND THINNING

Do you ladies believe stretching your relaxers made your hair thinner then what it used to be?

I still have thick hair but I think the constant shedding has thinned it some. I recently stopped stretching as of this month, I used to stretch 12 weeks but now I only go to 9 or maybe 10 weeks.

I believe my hair got thinner from the constant shedding it would do while stretching. I don't know :ohwell: The shedding could also come from me only combing once a week on wash day.

I totally agree with TLC. Stretching thinned my hair out. Some people stretch with great results, but I'm not one of them. My last stretch I lost a ton of hair, I'm still considering a BIG CHOP (maybe a bob).

I was wondering the same thing. I thought it wasmy hairdresser just trying to annoy me about waiting so long but I do notice that my hair was doing better when I relaxed at 8 or 9 weeks instead of stretching to the 14-17 weeks. I trying cowashes and dc but it seems that the longer I stretch the more my hair tends to tangle around itself and this leads to me getting breakage when getting it relaxed. I am going back to 8 week tu:yep:

Yes I believe so the longer I stretch sometimes the thinner it gets, I have to keep finding treatments to stop breakage and a whole bunch of mess, now I am just going to stretch to 9 maybe 10 and relax and be more so careful not to over process and protect my hair. Sometime stretching isnt meant for everyone, I think that people with thinner and softer hair can manage stretching better then ppl like me with thick coarse hair. It seems unbearable at times.

Some ladies do have great results when stretching but I don't think I do. I will no longer be stretching my relaxers past 9 weeks and see if this works.

I'm sorry u are experiencing this...I'm currently 7wks post on a 12wk stretch...I noticed that when,I cowash/wash,detangle under water, and airdry..I get less shedding...quick question: how are u caring for your hair during your stretches?

I bun throughout my stretch, moisturize and sometimes seal when my ends are dry. I don't know if its the no manipulation or stretching but I'm going to tweak my regime and see if stretching is it.

I'm not sure of yor hair type, but it looks favorable to mine, which is a 3b/c...I know for me...too much manipulation (including bunning) is a no no for my hair:nono:....maybe u should try another protective style such as a loose clip in your hair:yep:
