So GLAD I'm texlaxed now! Best of both worlds!

Congratulations on finding a happy medium between natural and relaxed hair that didn't force you to lose all your texture! I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment of it being exhausting to deal with your natural hair. My hair was relatively easy to come through (think soft baby-textured 4a hair), but I HATE shrinkage. I was never accustomed to having short hair, so I texlaxed for both purposes of stretching the curl pattern and manageability. I wish I had a little more curl definition (got my hair a little straighter than I intended), but its all good. I still have texture. HHG! I would like to find Sistaslick's advice about texlaxing to read up on it...

P.S. I thought I was the only one who went ga-ga over the Kay Jeweler's girl's hair. That hair is absolutely gorgeous. Looks like its a chore to comb through, but I would trade mine for hers anyday and just deal with it!!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Kay Jewelers girl's hair is hers only because she purchased it. She is a singer and was posted on YT. You could tell on YT that her hair was weaved. However, she may be only using the weave as a protective style and may be WL.

I am happy for you, I just texlaxed a few weeks ago, and I am so happy, I have nice curls all over, even though it is not all that long at all, I am focusing on getting more protein treatments and touching up every 6 months.

It came out beautiful!!!!! I want to tex lax my hair but I am worried about touch ups. I want to have it be consistant every time. I am unsure how to go about doing that. I don't want to have to rely on going to the salon to do my hair every time.

PrettyKinks for my touch ups I use an Aplicator Bottle, I have always used one for the past 12 years off and on, I go natural then relax etc. but now I am happy with texlax, the aplicator bottle helps you not to overlap and makes applying the relaxer faster, I also dilute my relaxer with Oil, I use the Silk Elements with shea butter mild or regular they seem the same to me, but make sure that you have enough newgrowth because if not you could end up with straight hair and semi curly hair and it will look a mess and then you will get mad and start all over LOL!!!

I chose to touch up every 6 months because I know I will have alot of newgrowth to work with, But some people touch up every 6-8 weeks with no problem, I think I read that DLewis does that and her hair is GAWGESS!! I also know that for me I have to step up on the protein. I will put a pic in my avitar when I take one. Good Luck!

Congrats on your successful texlax er LP. I myself just made a decision to texlax my hair in January of this year and I am so glad I made that decision. I plan to texlax again in January of 2010, I hope:look:.

I have to get these straight ends off my head soon as they are looking quite aweful right now, thin, frizzy, and dull, urghhh:nono:!!! My stylist won't cut them all off at once because she thinks I might want to put it in a bun, she's probably right. I'll see how I feel by the end of this year.

your hair looks very healthy in your siggy...nice

Uh-oh... were you looking at my current siggy? It isn't me!
Your hair in your siggy looks so amazing! Great job.

Oh, dear. I replaced my siggy pic a few weeks ago with a pic of the model named Wanakee. That isn't my hair! Oh, boy, now somebody is gonna "call me out" saying I'm trying to front like that's me! I better change my siggy pic back to my texlax shot ASAP!

Yeah, I think her weave is pretty obvious... what I meant was that my hair looks like her weave! Only shorter, lol.

ETA: I looked on my 'puter for the texlax pic but I cannot find it... grr... I don't know what folder it's in and I have looked all over. I changed the Wanakee pic out so that at least nobody thinks that is my hair (I wish it was, lol) or thinks I'm trying to perpetrate a front.

OK, sorry it took so long to get these pics... things have been a little crazy here, lol. I'm really happy with it.

I'm still wearing my wigs/half wigs to keep my ends from rubbing all over my clothes and cordueroy (sp) couch, but when I wear it down I feel very pretty. I kept swinging my hair all around :gorgeous: and DH loves it, too.

GORGEOUS!!! Soooooooooooooooooooooo thick.

I COMPLETELY understand what you are going through. This was me about a month ago. Instead of texlaxing I put my hair in braids and am going to stay in them for a couple of years. Yes, I AM the worlds biggest procrastinator.

I've been tempted by this in the past but worry about the "after effects". Some people have reports great things at first, but after awhile hair dries and breaks. That is my fear. But I'm glad you are happy with it. post pics.

Is there a thread where this happened to someone? I haven't heard of this happening to anyone so I am curious about why that might have happened. I know that some ladies have problems when the use a texturizer, especially if it is a no-lye texturizer. But most of the ladies here use a regular relaxer to texlax and lye is the best because it doesn't straighten as fast and it isn't drying.

Lady Paniolo, how is your hair doing? I feel like I remember a thread where you said something about having issues with your texlaxed hair?

Sounds like it turned out beautifully....I'm hoping I get those same results as I grow out my hair.
