So GLAD I'm texlaxed now! Best of both worlds!

OK, I've only been texlaxed for about an hour now, lol. But I am so happy I can hardly stand it! :beach: :dance7:

I was SO tired of it taking me hours to just put a few Celie braids in my hair, all the tangling, single strand knots, and shrinkage :wallbash:.

I hated being natural. I started to hate my hair because it was so draining and exhausting to deal with it. :nono: I really thought long and hard about what to do, and what would fit with my very busy lifestyle.

So today I texlaxed! :trampolin

I used ORS. My roots got straighter than I would have liked :ohwell:, but that's ok. I followed Sistaslick's advice to the letter. After I rinsed out the ORS, I put a whole bottle of Redken's Anti-Snap in my hair, followed by tons of Kenra Color-treated condish. Then I neutralized and neutralized some more. Then ORS pak and more Kenra. I used the blow drier on low to dry it and I LOVE the result. It reminds me of the girl from the Kay Jewelers commercial. It's thick and huge and curly. I love it so much. It's not all limp and lifeless bone-straight. It's like my natural texture, only better.

Anyone who is hating being natural, who is struggling with it but doesn't want a super straight relaxed look, I'd highly advise you to consider texlaxing. My hair still looks very much Afro textured, but I can get a comb through it without hearing tearing, snap crackle and pop. Even soaked and slathered in conditioner, it was torture combing my natural hair. Now I can comb it with minimal effort and WAY less damage. I might do it once or twice a year max.

Hooray for texlaxing!!!!!!! :woot:

I must correct you on something, at least your hair is all yours and looks 100% gorgeous!!!!!:yep:

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

 my hair looks like your when it is this long.

 Can I please have hair like Lady Paniolo for my 30th bday? Please?

Cool....i'm texlaxing this year as well. I'm doing a gradual texlax...where i'm going from slightly realaxed by doing a regular relaxer but decrease the amount of time i leave it on...and then next year i'm gonna try to decrease the amount of times i put it in.

I am doing this also....good luck !!! I am currently 1'' from BSL and could not bear to BC

You guys are flattering me too much! Y'all are going to give me a big head!

:Blush2:

I was actually inspired to wear my hair down today instead of wearing one of my 5011 wigs.

I'll be seeing my in-laws tomorrow and I think I'll wear my hair down. They haven't seen my hair out in over a year, I think they'll be really surprised by how it looks.

Thanks to all you ladies for your responses.

My best texlax came from using Revlon Realistic. It is a lye relaxer. It made my hair behave the way I wanted it to. It took less time to take care of and less product for a curly look. Now that I have a better understanding with how to handle natural hair, I can go back to texlaxed in the future with a better idea on how to be more successful in caring for my hair. I only leave it on for 5 minutes maximum and wash it out. I am researching more before I make the decision to do it, though.

Your hair is gorgeous
I am considering this as well. When I was relaxed I could not get my hair bone straight I always had residual waves, even though hair was over processed.
It may be a happy medium, I know I retain better natural but 70% shrinkage is an issue.
Think I will reconsider it in 2010, for now I will wait, and research

Your hair is so thick!! Looks great.

I love texlaxing too...I can still have big hair if I air dry, straight hair if I set it.

I agree! texlaxing is the great. u do have the best of both worlds. the hair stays strong in my opinoin when you don't do the whole bone straight thing. as soon as i put mines in a rinse it out. your hair and your texture is pretty. happy growing!!!

gorgeous! i hopped on the texlax train when i started this hair journey back in october of last year. i did my third texlax today, and i love it. i love that it's thick and still manageable; i opted for this method as my hair is fine but dense, and this helps keep down the breakage that i got from fully relaxing. i contemplate DAILY whether to hack off my relaxed ends. i can't believe how much i almost detest them now in favor of my texlaxed roots...

your hair is beautiful, congrats!

Just gorgeous! I've been so wanting to transition to texlaxed. If i knew i would get your results, i'd do it in a heartbeat!

OK, sorry it took so long to get these pics... things have been a little crazy here, lol. I'm really happy with it.

I'm still wearing my wigs/half wigs to keep my ends from rubbing all over my clothes and cordueroy (sp) couch, but when I wear it down I feel very pretty. I kept swinging my hair all around :gorgeous: and DH loves it, too.

Your hair looks absolutely "Beautiful"!!!:yep::yep::yep:

Welcome to the texlaxed club. It was the best decision I every made and I only texlaxed my hair twice a year. I love my hair and I use no direct heat to style my hair!!!!!!!!!
