OK, I've only been texlaxed for about an hour now, lol. But I am so happy I can hardly stand it! :beach: :dance7:

I was SO tired of it taking me hours to just put a few Celie braids in my hair, all the tangling, single strand knots, and shrinkage :wallbash:.

I hated being natural. I started to hate my hair because it was so draining and exhausting to deal with it. :nono: I really thought long and hard about what to do, and what would fit with my very busy lifestyle.

So today I texlaxed! :trampolin

I used ORS. My roots got straighter than I would have liked :ohwell:, but that's ok. I followed Sistaslick's advice to the letter. After I rinsed out the ORS, I put a whole bottle of Redken's Anti-Snap in my hair, followed by tons of Kenra Color-treated condish. Then I neutralized and neutralized some more. Then ORS pak and more Kenra. I used the blow drier on low to dry it and I LOVE the result. It reminds me of the girl from the Kay Jewelers commercial. It's thick and huge and curly. I love it so much. It's not all limp and lifeless bone-straight. It's like my natural texture, only better.

Anyone who is hating being natural, who is struggling with it but doesn't want a super straight relaxed look, I'd highly advise you to consider texlaxing. My hair still looks very much Afro textured, but I can get a comb through it without hearing tearing, snap crackle and pop. Even soaked and slathered in conditioner, it was torture combing my natural hair. Now I can comb it with minimal effort and WAY less damage. I might do it once or twice a year max.

Hooray for texlaxing!!!!!!! :woot:

CONGRATS!!! I'm happy you found your solution. Most of all, you are happy with your decision. :yay:

I'm glad you are happy with it!

Texlaxing was not good for me. My hair was kinky but fragile because of the chemicals. Make sure you step up the protein.

And where are the pics?

I'm too computer challenged to figure out how to get them onto the computer by myself. :drunk: I need DH to help me when he gets home from work.

I bought Aphogee 2 step at the BSS today, but the directions seem kinda confusing to me. :spinning: Once I figure it out I'll do a protein treatment. I did put in the Anti-Snap (which is protein) during the texlaxing process, so hopefully that should help too. Thanks for the tip! :yep:

Texalaxing is when you use a perm but not for the suggested length of time right?
I'm hoping to do it in two weeks with JFM texurizing for kiddies.

I hope I'm as happy w/ my results as you are* applause*

:yep: I only left it in for 8 minutes or so. Next time I'll put it in for 5-6 mins.

What/where is sistaslicks advise. Although I've been texlaxing every 12 weeks since August more knowledge wouldn't hurt.

I've been using Elasta QP Mild Relaxer. I love it.

Congrats! I'm going from relaxed to texlaxed. I'm so low maintenance it's shameful. LOL Bone straight means I'll just wear it in a bun all the time 'cause I'll be too lazy to work with it (also, I won't take care of it like I'm supposed to), and natural is basically the same for me. Texlaxing is great for my wash and go lifestyle (can't wait till summer!!!) and it'll fit me perfectly when I get that waist length goal!
Yea!!! Texlaxing is great isn't it? I agree; definitely the best of both worlds!!
Happy Hair Growing! *claps*

I too took the plunge and texlaxed after 2.5 years of being natural and it was the best decision I have made with my hair.

I take a shower, cowash and run some frizz cream through my hair. It air dries with volume and curls. I actually had someone do a weave check the other day because it is so thick and healthy looking!

It is so much easier to comb and detanlge and I loose so much less hair. i am going to wait a few months to decide if I want to do it again.
Before and after pics are in my album.

Congrats jousnerd, welcome to the club!!!:yay:

Congratulations and welcome to the club!

ITA that texlaxed is the best of both worlds. I love being able to detangle/style in minutes and still have kinky hair! Can't wait to see your pics

D you have pictures? What does texlaxed hair look like?

The way that texlaxed hair looks will vary depending on the original texture and how long the leave the relaxer in, how strong the relaxer is, etc. Have a look at my siggy/avi. I texlax for 12 minutes with Motions Herbal Super mixed with conditioner and oil.

Thank you all for your replies.

I am so thrilled I just don't know what to do with myself!

I don't know if I'll feel the need to do it again, because overall I like my natural texture near the roots, it was the ends that were causing the problem... they had the tightest curls of all. Now that they have been loosened, I'm not sure I'll want/need to do it again.

I wish I had done this a year ago.

The only thing that makes me frown is realizing that despite how great I was taking care of my hair (or so I thought) I have mad split ends that mean I'll need to trim off about an inch. Bye-bye BSL. But I'll be back! :armyhat:

I don't have pics yet, DH has to help my simple behind load them on the computer. :lachen:

Her advice was actually for relaxing.
- clarify & protein a week before relaxing
- use a protein condish after washing out the relaxer but before using the neutralizer
- Let the neutralizer sit on your hair for 3-4 minutes before rinsing out
- condition afterwards.

I love, love my texlaxed hair...just so versatile. Girl, congratulations and enjoy your hair!
Thank you! :rosebud:

I cannot wait to do wash 'n go styles without the billion-hour detangling session, lol!

Good for you....Im really thinking about going from relaxed to texlaxed..
Don't you touch that gorgeous hair, girl! Don't change a thing! J/K if you want to texlax I bet you'd still look fabulicious!

Thank you! I also was 2.5 years natural and I was losing tons of hair during detangling. I also feel this was the best thing I've ever done for my hair. :yay:

OMG, your hair looks so great in your siggy  Mine doesn't look that nice, lol. But I could run a comb through it, and that's a billion times better than before. I'll have to try my Noodlehead out and see how it looks...

How long did you keep the relaxer in out of curiosity. I am also texlaxed, but I always find out that my hair gets straighter than i plan for, so wanted to get an idea of what others are doing

I am glad that you found something that works for you. You have to make yourself happy. Do whats best for you.

I only left it in, application time included, about 9-10 minutes. My roots got straighter than I wanted, it's not an exact science for me yet.

OK, sorry it took so long to get these pics... things have been a little crazy here, lol. I'm really happy with it.

I'm still wearing my wigs/half wigs to keep my ends from rubbing all over my clothes and cordueroy (sp) couch, but when I wear it down I feel very pretty. I kept swinging my hair all around :gorgeous: and DH loves it, too.

Cool....i'm texlaxing this year as well. I'm doing a gradual texlax...where i'm going from slightly realaxed by doing a regular relaxer but decrease the amount of time i leave it on...and then next year i'm gonna try to decrease the amount of times i put it in.

wow your hair looks great! It is waaaaay less damaging than being bone straight and you can rollerset it to get a straight look if you want...just BEAUTIFUL!
