Hey!

I wanted to post my progress/updates since my setback.

It's been about 6 months since I had my setback.

Long story short - I started my hair journey in August 2008 and was set to make BSB/ BSL by December 2009.

In October, I went out with my mom, borrowed her coat. Her coat had velcro on the hood..and it decided to eat my hair for lunch!

When I attempted to take teh coat off...all I heard "chhhhhhhhhh" like something was ripping! :perplexed:perplexed:perplexed

It was may hair! It took about 2 inches off the back in a big spot. :ohwell:

I had to get about 2 - 2 1/2 inches cut. I was upset, but knew it would grow back! :yep:

Picture time!

April 2010 update

I am excited, I think I'm BSB or BSL, if not I'm VERY close!

Here is a pic of where I started....

my hair would not grow beyond this length, it would start breaking terribly.

Sorry about the small pics, I don't know how to resize, you can click on them and it will take you to my Fotki!

Wow. Your hair looks gorgeous and your progress is amazing. What was your reggie for the past 6 months?

Thank you! My reggie is quite simple.

I co-wash 4 times a week with: AO HSR or Tresemme Silcone Free Condish or Giovanni.

I moisturize and seal with Nourish n Shine and Castor Oil on the days I cowash.

I wear pinned up twist / braid outs 99% of the time.

I rarely use heat. In the last 6 months, I probably used heat 2x.

I sleep with a satin scarf/ bonnet. Trim every 6 months.

I use Amla, Brahmi, and Maka when I fee like it. I apply a reconstructor weekly.

I don't dc anymore....and that's pretty much it!

Great Growth! What was your reggie.

I'm sorry, here is the link : http://public.fotki.com/TheHairChallenge/

Yeah, you definitely made great progress :)
The velcro thing has happened to me as well. Next winter I will definitely be wearing my hair up (or at least while I'm outside).

Congrats :)

awww i hate to hear about your set back :( but your progress is inspiring! thanks for sharing your regi and keep it up!

Thank you so much everybody! I really appreciate it!

I got asked a few questions, so I will post the answers here so everyone can see.

I am relaxed, been relaxed my whole life! LOL :lachen::lachen:

The longest my hair has ever been was barely SL, and my ends were broken off terribly!

When I was a child, my mom said my hair was probably APL at the longest.

I am 5'10. :grin::grin:

I relax every 12-16 weeks, depends on how I am able to manage my NG.

I don't really have any hard rules...I try to "listen" to my hair and stay away from bandwagons.

I am not anti-heat...rarely using heat took some time adjusting to, I used heat all the time pre LHCF. I had to learn not to be so dependent on heat.

Trims...I don't dust often ( I know I'm bad). I just get a trim every 6 months. My best friend is a stylist so I don't have to worry about my hair getting chopped off!

I protect my ends by wearing my hair up 99% of the time, but I will wear my hair down if I want...I've learned how much my hair can take. My hair is fine and very fragile, it breaks very easily!

I detangle my hair when I cowash...under running water. I use a Wet Look (??) wide-tooth comb.

I have found that since my hair has gotten longer, that I need to cowash in sections.

After I t-shirt dry my hair, I apply Nourish and Shine, then I apply castor oil to my ends.

Since I have fine hair, so I try not to overdo it with the products.

I use the GVP version of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.

I use Oliver Oil relaxer, my mom relaxes my hair for me! I relax hers also.

I use Roux Pororsity Control when needed....

I don't take any supplements, and my hair doesn't grow fast! :nono:

Believe me, there were many days I was so discouraged, I wasn't confident that my hair would grow long...and I still have those days.

My ultimate goal is to be MBL...which I hope to attain by 12/31/2010. :yep:
