What's your opinion on SB...do you love or hate it?

I had thought that Shea Butter was a savior to everyone's hair...but then I realized many people don't like it for their hair. I personally love SB. I just whipped up a batch with some delicious oils and it feels and smells so good. It is great for my hair in the winter. :yep:

How bout ya'll?

I don't like shea alone. Its too thick to spread on my hair. But i love it mixed with other things. For my body i just like it plain.

Shea Butter is a Dream for my Skin and Hair

I've used Unrefined African Shea Butter on my skin for years with beautiful results, I used to think its was way too heavy for my hair untll it occurred to me I could have better results if I tried the white kind as opposed to the yellow. I tried the white kind on my hair and it was a dream, it absorbed into my hair quickly left it moisturized and soft the difference was like night and day. My mom recently made a whipped shea butter recepe and it gave me the softest most moisturized braid out I'd ever had.

The Yellow Shea Butter has Palm oil in it which is a very heavy oil, that one is great for the skin especially in the winter, the white kind doesnt have anything added , it much lighter and its the best for natural hair:yep: theres a HUGE difference.

Loved it for my natural hair, but I can't imagine putting it on my relaxed hair. I still use it for my body though. Great stuff, all-around. :yep:

Shea BUTTER...hate. Shea OIL...love. Odd, ain't it? I tend to find the butter too waxy. I've been considering coming up w/ a mix of some sort as an oil for ends.

For body, I prefer coco butter. I think it's smells lovely (unlike shea butter).

I use it on my new growth and my ends 3x/wk after co-washing. I use the yellow unrefined slab. Just rub it between my hands and put it on in sections like a relaxer. Haven't had any breakage or other problems with the new growth. I don't know if it's the shea butter or not, but it sure doesn't hurt!
I also use it twice daily on my youngest DD's hair from root to tip. She's natural and her hair LOVES it! I don't know if I'd use it on her as much if I didn't co-wash her hair several times/wk. I only comb her hair wet w/conditioner. If I combed her dry with all that shea, it might be too thick and pull out hair. It would probably attract dirt, too.

I love raw african shea, so much, i could marry it. ok, jk.

i melted it down and whipped it with other great oils and rosemary oil for fragrance. It's a great skin moisturizer also, esp for my feet.

Although, I would imagine if you have relaxed hair or like lightweight, straight hair, then shea butter may be a bit much. Its great for twistouts.

love it..use it on my skin and hair..it can be a bit heavy for my skin though..so i try to use the lightest of the light..i plan to mix it into a fluffly cream

I absolutely LOVE shea butter. Shea butter + wearing my hair stretched = only co-washing once or twice a week!

I loved doing wash 'n gos, but I find it so unnecessary with shea butter. My hair stays soft and moisturized all week with just some shea butter.

I love shea butter for every single inch of my body. I use it on my hair everyday.

I'm about to order 10 more lbs. :look:

I love love love me some shea butter. I've just started transitioning and I must say that this is the best stuff in the world....omg.. I use my mixed with evco..and baby,..... I have a new bff

I love/hate it

its very thick and heavy but very moisturizing

dang just came from one thread listing things I need to use up

I gotta use up my Shea Butter too

lots of pre poo oil/butter treatments :yep:

I just started using shea butter...so far its just ok.
I'm going to start mixing it with almond oil or my evoo to see how it goes.

i love it. i thought i was allergic to it but i just cant use it for my skin. on hair, fabulous.

i put it after my activator/moisturizer and before my gel (sometimes).

I love it for both hair and body. If it's too thick or waxy for you try mixing it with someone else. Add in some cocoa butter if you don't like the scent. My husband was like :nono: without the cocoa butter. You can also try adding a nice smelling essential oil.
I have different mixes for skin and hair. I have tried it with EVOO, coconut oil, rosemary, and a few other essential oils.
It's a staple for my family.

I love shea butter. I add coconut oil and aloe to mine. My hair loves heavy products and I use it year round. I also use it on my skin.

I LOVE Shea butter !! I melt it in the microwave then mix it with EVOO and put it in the refrigerator for the night.

The next morning I take it out and let it warm up to temperature room.

After a few hours it becomes a very SMOOTH paste and I use it on my hair and skin :lick:

I'm very lucky too because my mother goes back to her homecountry every summer (Senegal) and buys me loads of PURE UNREFINED shea butter at the market, coming straight from the village.

It's funny cuz my whole life she told me about the benefits of Shea butter (for hair, skin, dark spots etc.) and I just wouldn't listen to her until I began researching natural products ... go figure!

I know from experience that in francophone west Africa (Mali, Senegal, Ivory coast etc.) a lot of women use it on babies and young children as a daily skin lotion but don't bother use it for their own hair... it's kinda weird.:ohwell:

i use pure shea butter, straight from the nut.. the only processing i do is to whip it up..

I had been sleeping on it for hair use. I use it on my skin, but when i mix it with a little conditioner and put it on my hair... it feels WONDERFUL

I love it

i have the unrefined yellowish one i hated it til i whipped it and now its loads better and is great when mixed with my favourite oil of all time, coconut. I use the mix to seal everyday. I use it also as lip balm and its fantastic

I used to hate it on my hair till I started using SheScentIt's Gillian butter. Both my natural and relaxed hair loves this stuff!!!! Shea Butter is the first ingredient.
